❤Don’t miss the cocktail in the photo I’ve attached!
We opened with the prawns and the waiter was nice enough to offer fresh hot bread.
Then we moved to the mains and as can see the photos - was really good!
As I understand everything here is Portuguese 100% and it’s a family owned. Nice story behind and definitely worth coming back.

I loved my experience here, from the fresh decor to the great service and amazing food. I recommend keeping your bread at the start to eat with the sauces that many dishes come served in. A great eat with great drinks as well.

Came here for my last solo dinner before leaving Lisbon the next day. Waitress gave a nice wine pairing recommendation with the pork cheek dish which was so soft and tender. Literally melts into your mouth. Chocolate mousse was good but the portion was huge so I couldn’t finish the entire thing myself.

Service amazing and our waitress Iara was so so good, descriptive and friendly. Something you’d expect from a very high end restaurant. Prices very reasonable and a lovely setting :)

My family and I had a wonderful experience here for NYE. Arguably our most memorable night we had in Portugal on our trip. The food and service were spectacular. I have a few friends visiting Portugal this upcoming year and this is one of the places I’ll be recommending to them to go.

(Not just another) Culinary Gem in the Heart of Lisbon
Located in the neighborhood of Lisbon's Principe Real lies Pica Pau, a restaurant that exudes warmth and hospitality, captivating every palate with its culinary artistry. Step through the unassuming entrance and be transported into a realm of delectable flavors and vibrant atmosphere.
As you enter, the welcoming staff greets you with genuine smiles and a warm demeanor, ensuring a seamless transition into this culinary haven. Their attentiveness and presence are unobtrusive, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the dining experience.
The décor of Pica Pau is a symphony of colors and textures, seamlessly blending traditional Portuguese elements with modern touches. The rustic brick walls are adorned with artistic murals and antique-style lighting fixtures, creating an ambiance that is both inviting and sophisticated.
The menu at Pica Pau is an enticing array of Portuguese specialties, each dish crafted with passion and precision. My heart was set on trying the legendary Pica Pau, a culinary masterpiece that has been on my bucket list for years. And boy, was I not disappointed!
The Pica Pau, a roasted beef dish infused with Portuguese spices, garlic and pickles, arrived not too long after the couvert which consistent of a warm bun, Pica-Pau gravy, and salted butter, setting the stage for a culinary adventure. The succulent beef, perfectly roasted to tender perfection, was imbued with a symphony of flavors that danced on my taste buds. Each bite was a revelation, a testament to the culinary artistry of the chefs at Pica Pau.
As the Pica Pau symphony concluded, I ventured into the dessert section of the menu, where my eyes fell upon Medronho, a distilled strong liquor made from Arbutus berries, also known as strawberry tree fruits. This unique spirit, with its distinct aroma and slightly sweet flavor, provided a delightful finish to the meal.
Pica Pau is not just a restaurant; it's an experience that embodies the essence of Portuguese hospitality and culinary excellence. From the moment you step through the door, you are enveloped in warmth and treated to an unforgettable dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Pica Pau to anyone seeking a taste of Portugal's rich culinary heritage.

Pica Pau is a true gem in the heart of Lisbon, a restaurant that has earned its reputation as one of the city's premier dining destinations. If you're seeking a culinary adventure that will tantalize your taste buds and warm your heart, look no further than Pica Pau.

Best traditional, yet elevated food in Lisbon. We returned twice on our trip. The wine list is so impressive and our sever was exceptional. We tried everything and the Pica Pau was the highlight!

A memorable meal here, all for good reasons. We wanted to return here, but there is too much choice in this area of Lisbon - shame really.

The interior is tastefully done, reflecting the rustic element of the menu. Everything we tasted was new to us and impressed. We received an extra dish by accident, which was meant for the neighbouring table, so I tucked into it to their detriment thinking it was mine. It was great and worth the embarrassment when my actual dish arrived. Special mention to the octopus rice.

As much as the mains were great, they were outshone by the starters of broad bean fries (genius) and moist bread with the Pica Pau sauce; genuinely the best bread and dip I've ever had.

Wow wow wow. Incredible meal, great service, beautiful table settings and such a wonderful style. I was so disappointed when I was full, I really never wanted to stop eating.
Great wine, amazing dishes. I could eat here every week for the rest of my life.

Lovely little place, like so many hidden gems in Lisbon. A nice warm ambience and quick service. The food is good. The steak is tasty and the salted cod was good as well.

This restaurant offers a modern upgrade on traditional Portuguese cuisine, and you'll be pleasantly surprised by how they manage to improve these dishes that are often considered bland. The restaurant itself has a stylish and classy atmosphere, adding to the overall dining experience.

Enjoyed dinner here tonight. It was our first dinner in Lisbon and we were blown away by the service and taste of the food. Loved everything about it. Drinks were on point. Wine was reasonably priced. Octopus dish was some of the most tender I've ever tried. Pig suckling dish was also a favorite. It's also cool that you can watch the chefs cook and the kitchen is not hidden behind closed doors. From what I saw, the chefs really put their heart and passion into each dish. Highly recommend!!!

Very yummy. The olives, bread and blood sausage were excellent. I had the portuguese beef dish and that was great. Everything was well-prepared and tasted delicious. Definitely would go back to this spot. Highly recommended!

Overall, great experience. The signature pica-pau is tasty (although a tad overpriced for the quantity) and I thoroughly enjoyed the pork in sauce with mash potatoes.
The chocolate mousse was great too.
The staff could have been paying a bit more attention to the tables (had to call several times to order food and drinks, ask for wine to be poured as they kept the bottle away etc).
But overall, lovely place for a date or a friends gathering!

Perfect in every way. We were treating a friend to a Portuguese menu and this modern take on portuguese is one of the best ways to do this. Everything was slick in the service. Advice was well offered and the menu choice was amazing. The vegetarian options are great, but the stand out item on the menu is the pork cheek... just melt in the mouth deliciousness, although it could be a just touch more creative than being on a bed of mash potato, but it was amazing none the less

A place with tasty food that works until late, a big plus considering that most of the restaurants were closed and here I could eat something tasty even at 10-11 p.m.
The Pica Pau starter is very tasty and even tastier is the sauce that is served with, the prawns are also juicy with a very tasty garlic sauce.
For main I had the traditional Octopus which was soft and tasty, I would recommend asking for lemon to squeeze over the octopus.
The staff was friendly and explained all the dishes on the menu. Atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and charming.

Cannot recommend highly enough. Food was amazing and Lisbon has great food. So tasty and really worth going. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, nice atmosphere in the coveted garden area and we had an amazing meal. Would recommend the octopus and of course, the pica pau!

Staff was welcoming and always attentive. Food was delicious and very well presented. I had Açorda de Camarão accompanied with their homemade ice tea. If you are looking for a restaurant in the Principe Real area in Lisbon I highly recommend this restaurant.
