Costa Nova's colorful beach houses are a delightful spectacle, adding a vibrant touch to the coastal charm of Aveiro. Strolling along the sandy shores, you're greeted by these whimsical striped houses that tell a story of tradition and coastal beauty. Each hue seems to narrate a unique tale against the backdrop of golden sands. Exploring Costa Nova feels like stepping into a living canvas, where the cheerful colors mirror the lively spirit of this seaside destination. A must-see for those seeking a picturesque escape along the Portuguese coast.

Easy bus ride from Aveiro city centre, takes about 45min bus 36 and costs 2.60 euros, I think bus runs one bus in an hour frequency.

Really nice place. We went during winter time, went for a stroll. The typical houses are really lovely. We had a “tripa” which was warm and really nice.

Lovely walk around the ria and on the beach, even on a cloudy day the views are brilliant. Please try the "Caldeirada de enguias" a tradicional fish dish 😋

You can easily take a bus from the bus stop near the canal and city center to reach here. The houses are beautiful and maintained clean. You can buy tickets directly on bus.

cute little houses in a line, next to the water, 2-5 mins by foot from the beach.
Must see if youre visiting Aveiro and nearby

We enjoyed our time here. Good place to just chill and walk around. The weather was perfect as well when we came here to visit. It’s definitely worth the stop. We also had lunch around the area. The place is really charming if you know how to appreciate it. There’s nothing much to do, but it’s something that you shouldn’t miss especially if it’s your first time in Portugal, or if you live in Portugal, and it’s your first time to visit Aveiro.

Very charming place. It feels like you are in a children's book. Quite crowded and it's a llittle difficult to find a parking place. You should keep in mind that all-over Portugal they close the restaurants at about 3pm and reopen after 6:30-7:00 PM. Also applies for this place. There are some awesome beaches on the other side of this narrow peninsula.

Very cute! I got an uber from Aveiro and got there within 10-12min and it costed €10 each way. Unfortunately it was a public holiday and most of the shops were closed. Still worth it going.

This place is one of my favorites. They try to preserve the original architecture. It's worth seeing :)

Really, really beautiful!
Summer tip: although the sun’s still out, places close fairly early, so make your decisions based on when you’d like to go and the time they’ll close.

I’ll call that a must-see place if you’re close to Aveiro. Typical fishing houses well decorated and perfect for intragram lovers !!! Few coffee close to this place and nice homemade “tripas” to eat. You have also parking around this street ! I guess it must be packed of tourists during summer. It’s free…

We went here on a day trip and loved it. You have to see the striped houses to appreciate it. A quiet heaven easily reachable from Porto. Lovely for a day trip paired with a trip to Aviero.

They are only some houses with colored lines, but together they make a very nice picture. It is a good place to walk.
Only ten minutes from Aveiro, I will come here again if I am near.

Nice beach but recommend to go in sunny weather, nice for photos. Ready to eat seafood from market are good, and good value!

During summer this place can get quite busy. It's easier to walk around and to take pictures during off season.

There are tour busses that come here but Costa Nova is easier reached by car.
