It is the most unique place I've been to. Eerie, tranquil, quaint with a touch of green wetlands. The idea behind it, the serenity of experiencing it and the vibe of the place blending in with the natural rocks of the earth.
It will leave you wanting more. I just wanted to soak the place in.
Pro tip: get the audio guide, trust me.

We visited here end of February, on a week day, around 3pm. Didn’t run into any lines and bought tickets at the front gate - approx. 13€ per ticket.

Probably need to pre purchase tickets in busy season but the park is a nice size so you don’t run into too many people. A few of the smaller lookouts and the tunnels/well do have lines due to small stair cases, but all moved pretty fast.

The well is cool but when you file down in a line of people, definitely takes away from the experience. If you’re claustrophobic I could see it being challenging also.
The grounds (very well kept) and the palace were more amazing personally! Either way, it’s worth seeing and learning about.

There’s a cafeteria on site and washrooms as well and I recommend walking up to the front gate. It’s a bit chaotic driving through or trying to get a ride right to the front gate.

Quinta da Regaleira is an interesting place to explore. The well, in particular, is unique with its design. The feeling is hard to describe as you descend into the well. The caves are also nice to explore, but the grounds have been fully restored and lost their original charm. The whole estate is huge, so be prepared to do a lot of walking. Some parts have been restored completely and lost their original look and charm. The palace is filled with intricate designs that are worth admiring. The chapel may be small inside, but its exterior design is quite beautiful. Overall, Quinta da Regaleira offers something different.

Amazing place. Relaxing atmosphere! You can wonder around the gardens and you will find many hidden gems around such as caves, tunnels and viewing points with breathtaking views. You can also enjoy a nice coffee next to the palace and explore the interiors. Great experience, reasonably priced.

Beautiful complex with lots of awesome stuff to explore. You really get lost in the aura of enrapturing history and, even in the rainy, overcast weather, it's a beautiful fusion of nature and construction that has stood the test of time. The building is slightly closed-off and more impressive on the outside than inside, however it's mainly about the grounds surrounding it and the initiation well that's such a great time. Additionally, I was surprised by the many creepy, macabre caves that prodded my imagination after seeing the well.

Absolutely worth visiting! An "easy, but hilly" 10 minute walk from the National Palace. The grounds are beautiful with cobblestone paths and some steep stairs. Many of the paths do not have hand rails and may be challenging if you have mobility issues. We were here the beginning of December and the site was not crowded at all, no wait.

Beautiful gardens and architecture, spent about 4 hours here, easily could spend the whole day. You can explore caves, plants and the view from the upper gardens overlooking Sintra is great.

This palace stands out from other classical ones due to its unique combination of palace, garden, and the captivating well within its grounds, offering visitors a one-of-a-kind experience. This place is huge and requires atleast 4-5hrs.

⚠⚠⚠ weather can be quite unpredictable here so keep a warm jacket and umbrella.

Definitely a must go when you’re in Sintra. Going to the bottom of the well, you’ll net thinking to yourself about how creepy and weird it is, but it’s fun and an experience you won’t forget it. The caves are actually very well lit and there’s no way you will get lost, and surprisingly dry despite how it rained that morning. I believe it is worth it just for the gardens, and the immersive atmosphere in nature. The art on the buildings are also one of my favourite architectural styles, gothic and manueline. Allow yourself to get lost, or go with a guide, either way it’ll be memorable. There’s also a nice restaurant in there.

A breathtakingly beautiful place. Everything about it is quite magical, the setting on the mountain, the approach, the building itself. However, for me as a plant lover, it's the gardens. The Sintra micro climate allows a vast array of plants to be grown that would not survive elsewhere.

Great place to visit. Take your time and relax as you walk the grounds. Don't try to do all of the Sintra sites in one day. Take two days and enjoy yourself.

Extremely beautiful architecture!! This castle was on my wish list for years!
Very crowded though, if you want the place as empty as possible aim to arrive at the opening time. Is a beautiful place to spend the entire day if you want, walking, resting, enjoying the sun.
Always buy tickets in advance and be sure to respect the time frame indicated on the ticket for your entrance.
There is a little restaurant on site serving cold/ warm drinks and snacks.

Worth the drive from the city. It was a rainy day however i would say it just made the visit that much more magical. Yes there long cues for the more popular attractions within the site.. but the natural beauty does take your breath away. Ornate buildings.. interesting cave passages… tropical gardens, you feel like you have stepped back in history. The town of Sintra itself is quite charming as well !

Really strange place, but not to be missed on a trip to Sintra. We went to Peña Palace, the Moorish Castle, and Quinta da Regaleira. They are all must-see, and all totally unique. Make sure you spend a little time wandering the grounds here, and absolutely don’t miss the Initiation cave, which doesn’t even come close to describing what it is…

Plan a day trip to Sintra and include this place for sure. Very nice garden and overall atmosphere. An hour from Lisbon and you are in a fairly tale.

Amazing place to visit!! Much better than Palace of Peña. Buy ticket ahead of time. Really pretty scenery and serene feel inside the initiation well. Must visit!!

The palace is truly magical and enchanting. There was a little drizzle, but not too bad. We had to stay in line for about 15 minutes to get to the Initiation well, but it was worth it. The caverns where one comes out from the well are very pretty and unique.
There are many places to walk around holding hands and stealing kisses.
The Castle itself is beautiful, although fairly small. It takes about 10 minutes to walk through.
The grounds provide plenty of opportunities for photos, even on an overcast day.

Breathtaking grounds with much to see and lots to explore. There’s a line to go down the well to the cave system, but it moves fairly quick. At another cave system, the Labyrinth Cave, there’s no light but it is also very interesting.

Getting here can be intense. You are walking uphill nearly the entire time. The 434 bus (hop on hop off) will drop you off near the exit but there’s still 5-10 min uphill you have to walk to get to the entrance. Getting an advanced ticket will allow you to skip the line.

The inside of the mansion is quite crowded as everyone moves through the rooms in single file. There’s a bit of history about the estate but not much else. If you are limited on time, stick to the outside.

Quinta da regaleira is personally my favorite (even more than Pena palace), there are multiple green areas since Sintra is a national park. But the surrounding gardens make it more magical.
Some lakes, many tunnels (some entrances closed), hidden pathways and beautiful views.

12€ entrance at the counter. Same online

Hi guys, so I bought my ticket online, was 11euros and I went first thing in the morning at 10:00am

As soon as you enter, rush towards the famous attraction which is the initiation well, just to get it out of the way and take some photos before it gets too overcrowded.

For photos they don't allow you to stop, you need to keep moving so you need to be fast taking your photos. .

It's a nice place to explore. The property consists of a Romantic palace and chapel, and a luxurious park that features lakes, grottoes, wells, benches, fountains and a vast array of exquisite constructions.

Definitely worth the visit, I spend 3 hours there,so adjust your schedule accordingly as I visited after the Castelo dos Mouros and Pena Palace.
