Unusual restaurant hidden away in a grand multi-purpose event space. We arrived at 7pm when the upstairs restaurant opened and got a table without a reservation although it did start to fill up around 8pm. The food was simple but great quality - delicious salmon and chocolate mousse. The restaurant atmosphere is slightly strange, it feels a bit like you're eating in a hall in a stately home, but the waiter was humourous and the service was good. We enjoyed our dinner here!

Food is superb, well worth a visit despite the slightly strange surroundings and the service without a smile.
We had the pork “pica-pau” for starter and then the pork with clams and potatoes and the cod with chickpeas. All were excellent, but massive portions!
As it is a little unclear, there is a bar on the ground floor, a “taverna” on the first floor servicing drinks and light food and the restaurant on the 2nd floor.
We arrived at 7pm when it opened and got a table without a reservation. It had filled up by 8.

If you're coming for lunch, I recommend going inside to look at the beautiful interior of the restaurant, and then sitting out in the courtyard area of the bistro. It's lovely and quiet, shaded and great for a solo meal. I enjoyed the Açorda, it was very flavoursome - the only issue was the poached egg was overcooked. Service was very quick.

Food was amazing, portions were so big that we didn't finish everything! Highly recommended if you want to try authentic Portuguese food.

Very nice Hause, with an oriental garden after you come in. The restaurant is very interesting, and last but not least: I've never eaten a better lamb -rice in my life... This so simple dish was so unbelievably tasty, a big compliment to the chef. Service was excellent too!!

Amazing restaurant surrounded by the historical building. The personnel working at the restaurant will make you feel part of royalty. The food was simply amazing, the flavors were like an explosion of deliciousness, you need to reserve a table or try a walk in. Miguel, our waitress was amazing, bravo Miguel!!!!!!

A typical Portuguese restaurant with amazing food, friendly staff and a must do when in Lisbon. This is a secret place and highly recommended.

Very nice restaurant in Lisbon center, stunning environment and special architecture. Small taverna for Tapas and restaurant for full meal. Food is ok a bit turistic but the place is worth a visit. Staff is super helpful!

Fantastic food! Sooo out of the way. It's easy to miss, so keep your eyes open. It's a unique dining space. It is one of the top 10 places to eat. The price with the Euro conversion is great, superior value for money. Highly recommended restaurant with authentic Portuguese food.

One of its kind! The interiors are very interesting with much of the building kept as if old. The food is auth Portuguese and the menu/ pricing for groups is very well set. Private dining halls are also available. The bar us on level zero and the restaurant on the first floor.

This is a really great place with authentic Portuguese food. We enjoyed it a lot! Also, what makes it even more special is the Moroccan design.

Amazing food at a reasonable price. We ordered shrimp patties, cod fish cakes, clams, sauteed mushrooms, chicken gizzard, and fried pork in red pepper sauce. Food came quickly and was in decent portions.

We didn't go to the restaurant (second floor) but instead went to the tavern on the first floor which offers a tapas style dining experience.

The decor upon entry was beautiful.

From the outside, this place is unassuming. Do not pass it by! Step inside and up the dramatic staircase into the foyer. Continue upstairs to the breathtakingly beautiful dining rooms... each more beautiful than the last. The service and waitstsff work relatively fast (even if the story goes that things are slow in Alentejo). The prices are very affordable and the food is great.

After reading all the negative reviews, I considered not going. That would have been a huge mistake. The staff were, friendly, helpful and discretely attentive, the wine suggestion was spot on. The food was absolutely amazing, perfectly cooked. And very reasonably priced as well. The building and decor must be seen to be believed. An absolute must visit.

It is one of the most emblematic places in Lisbon. The restaurant has one of the best traditional Portuguese cuisine. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Old, beautiful and stunning building. An absolute must visit if you are here in Lisbon. We did not eat or drink here, we came simply just to look at the insides of the building. It seems to be from Morocco, maybe Marrakeck. It has the old patina and grandeur. Great exhibition of the ex-patrons from Alentejo. Definitely a place to see.

I feel like this place is a little under rated. The rabbit stew was great, just be aware that the food is rich and the portions are large, so it's pretty easy to over order food here.

4* for THE FOOD
1* for the place you must see it !

You must find it before enjoy it, because from the street you only see a little door, go upstairs and now choose between Restaurant or the Taverna.

First what a magic place we can discover in this old house with Moorish decor.

NOW THE FOOD :

I took : - Lagartos de Porco Preto con Espinafres
(Black pig tenderloins with spinach) and for me french fries too.

Fries and Spinach were classics but pretty good but the pork was YUMMY !
