Came here after walking by, and seeing the GF sign in the window.
Returned for dinner, and the owner could not be any more understanding and accommodating.
Great meal, great service!
The shrimp curry was a highlight.

3 weeks in Portugal and this is the best meal we have had hands down. Unpretentious and at a reasonable price. Katy the owner was an excellent host while training a new waiter who did very well. You have to eat here!

Really a fantastic place to try food from across the Lusophone world (the former Portuguese Empire). The owner is so friendly and knowledgeable.

Really delicious food. Best food during our Lisbon stay. We had prawn curry and fish stew, both were excellent. Good sized servings with extra rice offered if we wanted. Desserts also delicious. Such kind and friendly service.

The window and the welcome mat of this unassumingly simple yet elegantly warm and welcoming cafe claims "Food to Remember," and they didn't fail to deliver on that claim. Pois Zé! serves up traditional Portuguese dishes as well as dishes that acknowledge the influences from the country's former colonial history. My wife and tried the Mozambican Shrimp Curry and the Angolan Fish Stew respectively. Both were delicious, fresh and perfectly seasoned. The Shrimp Curry was fresh and tangy without too much spice heat and flavors that came together in a way that made it difficult to determine what was creating them. The Fish Stew was wonderful in its depth and again, the freshness of the fish was a clear confirmation that we were in Portugal in a city where great, fresh fish is ubiquitous. The staff was friendly and informative not only about the dishes and their origins, but about the local wine regions, with 4 wines "on draft" from Lisbon itself and the surrounding regions with bottles in dispensers which paired with our dishes in ways that were mutually complementary and elevating. There was one early mistake with some delicious samosas. We ordered the plate of two including a vegetable and a beef samosa. When the waiter realized as they were finishing the dish in the kitchen that he'd put an order in for fish and beef samosas, he quickly corrected and offered us a "sampler plate of all three," at no extra cost. We enjoyed them all, with the fresh heat of house made piri piri salsas, one green and one red. The tomato broth for the Angolan Fish Stew was so rich and delicious, I quickly soaked it up with the perfectly cooked rice that accompanied the pot of stew. The staff quickly noticed and offered - again, at no additional cost - an additional bowl of rice. My wife and I finished the meal sharing a slice of rich and light but creamy house-made cheesecake which I paired with a cup of cafe com cheirinho, again, a perfect pairing. The ambiance was also very memorable, with clean, white plaster walls ribbed by two grey stone arches. Among our culinary adventures together, this food experience will definitely be one that will remain vivid in our memories.... Truly a food experience to remember.

Had a wonderful experience with my brother at this restaurant. A charming mix of traditional Portuguese and food from places such as Mozambique, Cape Verde, Angola.

We tried a mixture of steak and some fish dishes, one from Cape Verde, made by a chef from Cape Verde himself! Great people with amazing service too, they took the time to explain the food and had a great passion.

One of the best meals I have had in my time here in Lisbon, we will definitely be back! AAAAA+++++

Fantastic new restaurant in Largo Rato. The food and wine is spectacular. Very simple but elegant menu that honors both traditional Portuguese food and the influences of former colonial cuisines, such as a Mozambique curry and an Angolan fish stew. There are several vegetarian options on the menu for both lunch and dinner. The wines are locally sourced from Lisbon and a bit further afield in Portugal. A variety of light reds and whites on draft and more complex red and whites to be enjoyed. The service is impeccable. Highly recommend this new restaurant.

Recomendo
