Our stay was great. From the friendliness of the staff to all the little extras in the room. We were in the "new wing" 1st floor. Very comfortable bed/pillows. The breakfast was great as well, many many options to choose from. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Just checked out of this wonderful hotel. Honestly blown away by the property, service and extra special treatment for my dog :)

Everyone was helpful, friendly - went above and beyond to make our stay amazing.

We stayed on the 1st floor by the restaurant / bar and it was a gorgeous room with a beautiful view. Couldn’t have asked for more! Really love the Octant hotels - thank you!!

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It had a fantastic historical atmosphere, delicious food, and the best breakfasts with a view, and the staff was exceptional.

I stayed there some time ago but for some reason am reviewing just now. At the time I was most impressed with the quality of the breakfast which I rated to the then general manager as the best I had ever had south of the Pyrenees.

I would rate it SEVEN star in each category - I've never before stayed in a hotel dating from 1700s with such amazing sevice, superb views, beautiful pool, dinners are sunset, lavish breakfasts..... right in the centre of sleepy old Lousa!
In any other country room such quality accommodation would be an extra €100 ! night!

What a lovely stay we had. They treated my children like princesses and made my birthday very special. Our suite was incredible. Hotel cleanliness was spectacular. Breakfast was fantastic and staff was so nice! Lousa is a very special place, especially if you love hiking as much as our family does. Make sure to hike from the hotel up to Trevim Swing, it is a challenging hike but so worth it (you climb almost 1000 meter). My children (aged 6 and 9) loved this hike! We can't wait to come back!

The staff were welcoming and helpful. There were many unique and friendly touches around the hotel and room like a stuffed animal for our 5 year old, and some hats. The view from the restaurant of town was beautiful as was the courtyard for us to play football in. The location was convenient and the hotel was in great condition. Lastly, the reception provided a handwritten note of a few places to see around the area we might miss. This was very much appreciated!!!

A charming hotel, offering a variety of attractions to the guest. The hotel staff is extraordinary, professional, courteous and very nice. Suitable for both couples and families. Located in a beautiful town, less touristy than the big cities and therefore quiet and pleasant. There is a forest nearby where you can walk, both on foot and by bike.

beautifully renovated castle in the middle of an old town. The staff at the front desk were very tentative and helpful, making us feel at home. They upgraded us to a bigger beautiful room. The atmosphere in this old palace was amazing and the decor was nearly at a five-star hotel with a price of a lower 4. It did feel that they were understaffed in the restaurant which was just OK, but the general experience was perfect.

Excellent hotel. Staff are very nice and always available to help. The commodities are excellent and the meals (breakfast and dinner) were very good.

First dog friendly hotel we've found in Portugal so far. Dog beds, toys, food and water bowls, dogs welcome in restaurant. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff. A great place to stay.

One of the best hotel experience I've ever had I might say. From room service, to breakfast, free bikes experience (electric too), 24/7 spa, big rooms for reading and chilling, parking... Also I could go with my puppy, so happy days

I’m not sure any review I write could do justice to the incredible warmth and hospitality we received at the Octant Lousã but here goes --

I got married here in August 2023 and from start to finish, the hotel staff went above and beyond to give us the wedding of our dreams. This was not an easy feat as my husband and I are based in the United States, so 95% of the planning was done remotely. They were incredibly accommodating, kind, patient, and thoughtful. If you are even slightly considering having your wedding here, DO IT! We went the exclusive route (booking all 46 rooms) and truly had the best weekend of our lives. We had a lot of moving parts and everything went off perfectly without a hitch. We also got so much value for the price.

The hotel has so many beautiful and varied spaces that we were able to host all wedding events onsite. We chose to do the ceremony on the upstairs patio by the fountain, the cocktail in the big garden, and the dinner/dancing in the rectangular garden. We also did private dinners on the two nights leading up to the wedding on the terrace upstairs and a post-wedding brunch the day after in the aromatic herb garden. It made it incredibly easy for our guests as all they really needed to do was get to the hotel – the rest was taken care of. It also made it much easier on us as we were able to relax and enjoy the weekend, we didn’t need to run around anywhere. Our guests loved exploring Lousã (many took nightly walks up to the castle) and the nearby schist villages. Several of our guests remarked that they were having such a nice and relaxing weekend, they couldn’t remember if they were on vacation or attending a wedding. The beautiful spa is open 24 hours a day (some of our livelier guests tested this!). We had so much fun alternating between the hot and cold indoor pools. The outdoor pool is stunning; kids and adults of all ages had an absolute blast.

The food was another highlight. We got so many comments from guests about how incredible the meals were. The breakfasts are endless and so delicious. I would stay here again for the breakfasts alone! Our guests were SO happy with them. For the wedding dinner, we were really impressed with how quickly they were able to serve all six courses to our guests and for it all to be so delicious. They were also able to accommodate a lot of guests with a variety of food allergies and preferences.

We were able to enjoy every moment of the wedding – and this is largely due to Diana, Nuno, and the entire team. They are true professionals in every sense of the word. The hotel did a lot to individualize the experience for each guest, especially those with kids. There were a lot of heartwarming surprises along the way (which I won’t spoil!). We left the weekend feeling like family and are forever grateful. We are already scheming as to how to throw another party there!

Even if there aren’t many things to do in Lousã, it’s worth so spend one night in this place. I travelled for 2 weeks across Portugal and this was one of the most comfortable location I slept (the weather obviously helped a lot, it was sunny but not hot, first days of May).

I slept in the old palace, superior room, it was really spacious. The pool looks better in the official pictures of the hotel, then in reality (check my picture), however I don’t really care, we stopped here to relax and we did.

Just to say our six day stay in the 'Palácio da Lousã Boutique Hotel' was a delight. Comfortable rooms, a peaceful little park to relax in, a pool, too, to refresh after the beautiful hikes we'd do around - above all, the kindest and most dedicated of staff. I shan't forget the splendid breakfast and pleasant restaurant. Just as important in those troubled times: the management's hygienic practices which made us feel more than safe. Again, a real delight.

Not only a great hotel but also a gorgeous wedding venue! The manager, Paulo Carvalho, is a real perfectionist - Very professional, punctual and organised. Planning a wedding abroad was not always easy but it would not have been possible without Paulo! We would always get an answer to our emails within one hour and Paulo came with great solutions to our concerns. All the staff were very caring and guaranteed great hospitality not only for us but all of our guests. We are very grateful we have chosen this location to celebrate our wedding which was absolutely magical. Thank you for everything and we cannot wait to return to celebrate our first anniversary!
