Restaurante Lage Senhor do Padrão

Great experience, both food and service. A local family run restaurant that has a simple menu of freshly caught fish. All come with a side and a sauce. I had the prawns, which are cooked in a secret recipe sauce, which has a distinctly Asian infusion, no doubt by chance than by design. The pawns are large and succulent, and the sauce is unexpectedly sweet with deep flavours. The service is extremely friendly and welcoming.

What a pleasant surprise to find this restaurant after walking along the beach. We were told there were many restaurants along the road near the beach and we found the perfect place. Great atmosphere, service and food. We started with jumbo shrimp, then had monk fish with rice which was good enough for two. Delicious meals all around. Highly recommend.

The food was absolutely outstanding! We have been to Portugal few times and had a lot of food! But this is by far the best we have ever had! The service was also fabulous are waiter was so friendly and helpful and happy to serve us! We had to wait at the beginning as came as peak time but the waiter was very efficient and got us a table in 10-15 minutes with about 6 families ahead of us! 100% recommended do not leave without visiting! Recommend salmon / sea bass and shrimp in special sauce

To be honest, I think that this restaurant is in my Top 5!
We took Octopus salad as a starter and Salmon with potatoes as a main dish. For a dessert the choice wasn't easy, but we finally decided to try one cake with almonds and one cream with eggs. Everything was simply delicious!
And last but not least, the prices are very economical.

If there is an opportunity for me to give 6/5 I will wholeheartedly give it to this restaurant. I don't do this often but when my wife and I came out of the dinner, we were so happy with the overall experience.

We had a great culinary experience in Portugal overall and the best food we ever had was at this restaurante Lage Senhor do Padrao. This place deserves the best reviews for the sheer variety of authentic Portuguese fare, great taste and quality ingredients they have.

This place is mostly frequented by the locals and of all the restaurants we saw in Matosinhos, this one had a long line of customers waiting outside for a table, showing how popular it is. Initially the staff said a wait time of 50 minutes but they got us a table in 25 minutes and that was a big relief. Nonetheless for the experience we had I would have gladly waited an hour, and if you have read my previous reviews you would know I don't like to wait for more than 30 minutes.

Anyways I went in hoping to order their whole fish, preferably the turbot, by the kilogram rate, which will be grilled with salt and olive oil. I didn't find it on the menu and on asking the staff they showed me the fish and mentioned it is an expensive fish. As we wanted to indulge a bit we gladly agreed. The fish came with three sides that we can choose. We also ordered the caldo Verde soup and octopus salad, which were great too.

In short, this place is worth visiting again and if we do come to Porto again I will travel all the way to Matosinhos just to eat at this restaurant. That's how much I am impressed by what we had.

Excellent place to get amazing freshly cooked seafood. Staff were very friendly, ambiance feels locals and the prices are great. Get here early as it fills up very quickly, but you can always have a beer whilst you wait in line.

The best in the region, best food, best price, very friendly waitresses, even though it's located in a very touristic area it's well frequented by locals, that being said this restaurant is always full so make sure to arrive before opening hours to get your spot without waiting in line.

Superb! Go there, you won't be disappointed. If pushed my only criticism would be its location and surroundings, but once inside you're not aware of those.

Super busy restaurant with long waiting lines but it was worth the wait. The grilled sardines were and also sides were delicious and the prices here were surprisingly low - especially for the drinks. Here you get one bottle of wine for the price of one glass in other restaurants around.

Simple and cute atmosphere! AMAZING SERVICE! The waiters and waitresses are just adorable and very professional! Food is super good and fish is super fresh. Prices are more than fair. It is cheaper than all other places we have been for the same quality in matusinhos. The result of all this is that you have to come prepared for waiting in the best of time for half an hour. But it is worth the wait!

Best food I had in Porto by far. The fried sardines were the best and the shrimp were fantastic. Also the price was very reasonable for what you get.

One of the best places to eat fish. We eat turbo, it was amazing. Queimada was an amazing pudding.
Must order ginhina. Most come back

We've elected as the best restaurant in our trip to Portugal, we went for dinner on a weekday and we were mind blowing about the quality of the food. Amazing staff, we had a 40 minute pleasant conversation with the waitress. They are hard workers and I'd recommended to all of my dear friends.
Both the cod fish and the Shrimp appetizer were amazing.

A wonderful restaurant! We shared a large turbot , more than enough fir 5 persons, which came with various side dishes. The staff organised our meal and recommendations, together with wine and everything was delicious. The service was grest and tge price very reasonable.

I was advised from a friend of mine to come to this restaurant and i was simply delighted, a top high quality food that made me reminding the old times..... wonderful employees in a wonderful restaurant with amazing prices! This people are concerned to offer the best food, accessible to the majority.......I highly recommend this restaurant!

Had great time in this restaurant. All food was very well cooked and quickly served. Fish dishes were really tasty.

One of the best restaurants I have eaten at in Porto. The food was absolutely exquisite. The grilled cod for two was the star of the show, it was expertly cooked and just juicy and delicate in an amazing olive and garlic marinade. I would definitely recommend you try it if its on the menu when you visit.
The shrimps were also a fantastic starter to share.

Our waitress was also fantastic and incredibly attentive.

Wonderful experience of local food. Very busy place at lunch time. We came at 12:30 and were just before it became very crowded. The service was quick, portions big- we really underestimated the size we got;) but we ate all🤭 everything simple, while delicious and fresh. Really recommend. And bill was 👌 for that plenty of food we ordered. 🫶

Very busy restaurant at lunch time, great grilled sardines, well served portion (12 sardines serves 2 people). We had a sangria which was good 🍷 the Arroz de Marisco was excellent, serves 3 people really, very generous portions. I’ll definitely come back for more sardines!

Good food for good price. A bit of waiting usually required (we waited about an hour on a Saturday lunchtime).
