The Leaning Tower in Toruń

The Leaning Tower in Toruń is a medieval defensive Tower which owes its name to its considerable tilt. A legend says that the creation of the tower was connected with an offence of one of the Teutonic Knights from Toruń who, against the monastic rule, fell in love and dated a beautiful daughter of a wealthy merchant. As penance for breaching the chastity vows, the knight was ordered to build a leaning tower as a symbol of his crooked ways and deviation from the strict , monastic rules.

Fascinating tower, it looks odd with the tilting. Don't know if you are allowed inside since it was closed.

This tower, which has protected the city for centuries, is now retired. it has become a most populer tourist destination

Time is passing by and yet this tower never change... Some great memories from my first visit can now be shared with my little brother... ☺

A great place being in Toruń, you have to visit the bendet tower and the Old Town...

Very nice sight, unfortunately there were many tourists at this day, but Thorn in general is a very beautiful city.
A Legend says that you are a honest person, if you are able to stand with your back to the tower, your heels touching the ground at the back at the tower and you are able to put both of your arms in front of you.

What a marvellous experience! For the ridiculously low price of 5 złoty, you get to actually touch and hold a wide array of medieval weaponry. Swords, axes, halberds, spears, shields... I was even able to put on a proper iron helmet. In addition, the man on site was able to demonstrate how one was supposed to fight with the different weapons. He showed off the different techniques and skills with practiced ease, and it was clear to see he was very knowledgeable and passionate about his work. And for the fairer sex, they also have a lovely exhibit of clothing from the Middle Ages. Definitely worth visiting!

Nice building, very popular amongst all tourists. Sometimes can be very busy there.

Torun is a beautiful city. It is possible to feel history everywhere.
I recommend to visit this place.
