Shahi Mosque

This is by far the most beautiful mosque after Wazir Khan Mosque as per my understanding. The Art work here in this mosque is soo unique and overall architecture is also so impressive. Do give this mosque a visit you guys will definitely love it.

The accuracy of geometric designs and the symmetry was mind blowing. To think this was all made such a long time ago without any help of modern technology.
The colors and graphic brilliance along with the aesthetics is also eye catching.
I loved the place and thank God I was able to see it.

The 17th century old Badshahi mosque, a replica of Badshahi mosque of Lahore was built by Chiniot resident Nawab Saadullah Khan, Prime Minister of Sub-Continent, a close aide to Mughal Emperor Aurang Zeb Alamgir. It is one of the historical monuments and tourist attraction sites in the district which is visited by thousands of people from all over the country and abroad.

There were 17 halls around the ground floor of the mosque which were residential quarters for the employees of the mosque but when the mosque was handed over to Auqaf Department some 50 years ago, these halls were then converted into shops.

Chiniot’s Shahi Masjid (Badshahi Mosque) was built by Nawab Saad UlIah Khan (1595- 1655) during the regime of Emperor Shah Jahan (1628-58). It was built during 1646 to 1655 AD. It is an exceedingly handsome edifice of hewn stone obtained from the hills near Chiniot. The mosque is set on a single-storey podium with perimeter shops. The external façades are distinguished by their prominent decoration and by the four corner towers. The internal court has an ablution pool and three domes over a gallery bordering the prayer hall. Almost all salient features of Muslim architecture are fully reflective in the construction of Shahi Mosque, which because of its artistic skill and calligraphic dexterity seems remarkable even today. A few years ago, when the government started conservation of the Shahi Mosque, local craftsmen with expertise were hired while original materials were used to restore the building and artwork on the walls. It was an effort to redefine the original structure, details and settings.

In the middle of Chiniot city, Shahi Masjid Chiniot built hundred years ago by Mughal empires. It was the small model of Badshahi Masjid Lahore, same design and structure was used to build Jamia Masjid in Dehli, India. Masjid was made of Sang-e-Mrmr but some years ago there was a dead need of rehabilitation. So some parts were repaired. Now majid is open for namaz and visitors. Local Government has fix lights that increased the beauty of this historical place.

A historical treasure to be cherished. Could have been taken care of, unfortunately not the case.

Shahi Masjid or Badshahi Mosque is one of the historical landmarks in Chiniot. It was built about 400 years back by then Mughal Premier who was from Chiniot. It's worth-visiting.

Beautiful place, a great cultural and historical heritage in the city with a long history. Best architecture but needs the attention of the authorities for its development and take care on regular basis. It must he promoted for the tourism in Chiniot by providing some good environment around it. Just like the same in Lahore. For visitors, specially tourists and photographers it’s a must visit place. A MUST!
