Claude's Le Cafe de Ville

Claude's Le Cafe de Ville is a French cuisine restaurant located in the heart of Davao City Poblacion. The restaurant is on the second floor of the Oboza ancestry house. Claude's has retained the charm of the old house with its old wooden interiors and furnishings. They have a simple but impressive menu. Their cheese platter and medium well steaks are my personal favorites. Their prices are much more expensive but are quite worth it.

Too sad to know that this place has closed already. I went to Manila for around seven months last year and when I came back, the first thing I wanted to do was to dine at Claude's. To my surprise, I found out that the restaurant stopped its operations a long time ago. 😢 Still posting this review to tell everyone that once upon a time, Davao has a great homegrown resto - Claude's.

Claude's Café de Ville is a magnificent restaurant housed in an old mansion right in the busy city centre. It's a beautiful and tasteful oasis in a dusty,chaotic area of town.
And the beauty of it all, the quality of the food actually matches the surroundings.
It's such a pleasant surprise to find authentic, classy French food in this little corner of the world.
During the holiday season Claude offers some really rare treats such as calve's head or couscous royale (with delicious merguez) on top of his standard menu.
The foie gras at Claude's is small and pricy but truly sublime, certainly one of the best i've had in the Philippines. And i found the other items on his menu reasonably priced for the quality offered.
Service is competent and attentive, a rarity in this country, and Claude himself watches over everything.
The only negative thing i could say about Claude's is that the wine list exclusively French and therefore bad value. The house wine is good but at a hefty 1150 Php it better be and there are no better value new world wines on the menu.
Nevertheless, the existance of a gem like Claude's in this remote, underappreciated city is very appreciated.

My wife and I decided to have a special night out with my sister in law and our niece. We picked this restaurant for the ambience and atmosphere hoping it was like the photos we had seen. We definitely were not disappointed. From the moment we walked up the stairs and entered this beautifully decorated restaurant to the moment we left, it was perfection. We were greeted by the owner in a very professional manner and escorted to our table. There was a lovely sound of music being played by a very competent musician which made the restaurant echo with romance. The waitresses were prompt and efficient and the owners wife was extremely helpful with our order. Oysters, mussels, prawns and escargots as an entree were taste bud tantalising. The excellent selection of red wine made this first segment outstanding. 10/10. Then came main course and pork dish and steak with peppercorn sauce. I thought things could not get any better but the presentation and taste was scrumptious. So nice to have a steak with a gravy bowl on the side and also a jacket potato with dishes to compliment. So good, I wanted to fault this place, so I ordered dessert creme brûlée with a cappuccino. Again absolutely perfect. I visited the cr (toilet) and this also was beautifully presented and immaculate. On leaving this restaurant, I congratulated the workers and owner as this would have to be the best meal I have had in a French restaurant, and I have visited many! Congratulations on a excellent experience.

One of the best meals we had in Davao. I personally love restaurants situated in ancestral houses because of the unique ambiance. Their staff are nice and attentive and the experience was made more special with Mr. Claude's presence and being involved with the dining operation. We left so full as the servings were huge. We highly recommed dining here when in Davao City.

I had a very nice evening at Claudes Cafe on 4th April 2018 and the food was excellent. I started with 'fine du Clare' oysters, followed by my main, Blue Merlin and dessert was creme brulee. The food was complemented by a very nice wine, the staff were very friendly and overall I had a very enjoyable meal and look forward to my next visit.

The food is Great! We celebrated the birthday of my girlfriend in Claude's Cafe de Ville and ordered bouquet of flowers as a surprise to my girlfriend. They also give us free cheesecake!

I'm still dreaming about how good the eggplant is! Spicy eggplant in coconut cream and the the shrimp in aligue sauce (crab fat) was exquisite! Too bad I wasn't able to try the majablanca cheesecake because we had to dash to the airport. I promise I'll be back for more :)

Good food! Thats the first thing i can say. Its a fine dinning style so expect food to be in a pricey side. They have parking so thats a plus. Staffs are very accomodating. During our dine, the owner is so hands on.

One top French restaurant in Philippines i am French and also a good chief cook so i think i know what i said.. Other in Davao are just trying to be french restaurant but they cannot reach the level of a real 40 years professional that work in that field since 40 Years all over the world in the top brand hotel restaurant !!! Thats a reality.. Some open restaurant without knowledge or real professional experience but as they are fare from France they think that coking as French receipe its enougth to be a Pro restaurant !!! We don't understand how they are the first in Trip Advisor ...We dont believe on this sorry.. Be award on this Claude Cafe is a real French restaurant.

An established fine dining place located in the heart of Davao city. Give their steaks a try. Parking could be an issue so you might end up parking by the road.

Classy and historic ambiance. Great service. Good French Food. The goat cheese salad and spring chicken are delicious.

This restaurant is not cheap as far as Davao City goes but the food is truly excellent as is the care of the presentation and the ambiance. Well worth a visit ...

This place is nice and intimate. Food's pricey, but that's expected. Order the protein. Prepare your wallets. 😅
