Beautiful views, the complex irrigation system still in full operation. A truly engineering masterpiece.

The most UNDERRATED archeological ruins around Cuzco. We went there and there was literally no one. Amazing place where Incas managed land and water via terraces and water canals. If you have the "boleto turistico" I definetely recommend going there.

Beautiful views of valley. The fountains along the massive terrace platforms are still working hundreds of years later

One of the best spots on the Cusco General Ticket package

Very nice place in the south valley of Cusco. Its main attractions are the big terrace and the water canals that made possible high-level agriculture for the Incas.

This spectacular site is well worth visiting. Unlike Machu Picchu, the fountains, all of them, flow with water just as they did 500 years ago. I was suffering from altitude sickness, and almost passed on visiting, but was very glad that I manned-up. The fourteen foot high terraces have their, apparently, original steps. One fountain is the classic triple rivlet seen in all the tourist photos. We were the only Anglo visitors for at least three hours.

This is probably the best site included in the tour. I liked it even more than Machu Picchu. It feels so peaceful. Beautiful sceneries.

Wow! Beautiful place and not crowded at all. We were at Cusco and went by bus (3 soles per person). Then we took a taxi (15 soles) to go up a steep hill, 3km (well worthwhile). You have a short circuit and a long one. I was the only one on the long one... The photos are from there.

For me Tipon its my secret place to stay and visit in Cuzco. Surrounded by green mountains and far away from the touristic places.
¡Maravilla de lugar!

This is a beautiful archaeological park which shows how smart the Quechua people were in hydrolic and agricultural engineering. The squared terraces and the water channeling are just amazing.

Really enjoyed viewing these ancient ruins. Took the city bus and a cab to the ruins making it a cheap excursion. This is a pretty big ruin site and if you want to see everything you need at least three hours.

A nice road runs almost to the top of the mountain, access is quite convenient. Several huts placed around the pathway for shelter from the rain or sun. Water features are very interesting and impressive. Easily worth the drive from Cusco. Wonderful views across the valley.

These might not be the most stunning terraces as there are Moray and not best ruins as there are so many others but this one have the most amazing view to the valley.

These terraces are watered by the water coming from the mountain and runs through irrigation built in 15th century.

It is absolutely worth a visit and enjoyed. Like any other ruin/terrace place I recommend to visit this with a guide because without getting the full history it's just an old place. Tours from Cusco cost about 20-25 soles, worth it.

Fascinating fountains from the Inka times in a beautiful mountain setting. Fed by streams above, the fountains still flow today! I recommend finding a guide who can teach you the mystical significance of these magical fountains.

Great place to visit and beautifully preserved remains of an Inca agriculture development site. Really lovely views. Try to get a guide to explain it all

Probably the most impressive archeologal site, must see in cusco, its outside of town, inca site where they tried to grow crops on different altitudes. You can get there by bus (cheap but takes longer), small part is always with taxi. Or all the way with taxi which is a bit more expensive. Buy the 130 soles ticket to see all the archeologal sites, worth it.

Cool place! Great part of the tour. Amazing views and really cool to see how the water comes down the channels they built

Tipón, is a sprawling early 15th-century Inca ruin situated inside the Sacred Valley 3,400 meters above sea level. The complex covers 239 hectares and is located 22 kilometers southeast of Cusco near the town of Tipón. It consists of wide agricultural terraces irrigated by a network of water channels fed by a natural spring. Several surrounding ruins have been excavated, and many more are visible below the soil.

The Tipón complex is located near Oropesa in the Community of Choquepeda, southeast of Cusco and along the Cusco-Puno road. It contains enclosures, terraces and an intact canal. The upper complex is crossed by the Inca Trail with an irrigation canal. It was put on the List of Historic Civil Engineering Landmarks.

The site was probably used as a laboratory of agricultural products because of the various micro-climates found within the complex. Tipon is considered one of the 16 most important archaeological tours for tourists who visit the area.

Besides being an archaeological complex, the site is home to one of the largest irrigation works in the terraces, with a great distribution of outdoor water channels.

The true purpose of Tipón is not known. Even the original name of the Inca site is lost. The only possible written reference can be found in the Comentarios Reales de los Incas by Garcilaso de la Vega. According to de la Vega, after the Viracocha Inca usurped his father, he ordered a palace to be built for his father, Yawar Waqaq. The location of this palace is described as close to Cusco, built between the straits of Muyna and Quepicancha, near the river Tucay. As Tipón is located between two mountain streams, and above the Urubamba river, some archeologists believe de la Vega was talking about Tipón.
