I try to avoid hotel food at all cost, but there's not much around the Amak Hotel. So reluctantly we resigned to go to the Tawa Restaurante. Much to our surprise, we were greeted with an authentic and bright space with a panoramic view of the mountain side and the sound of a flowing river.
Service was prompt and we ordered the skewered alpaca followed by a chicken roulade stuffed with ham and cheese and a wild mushroom ravioli.
It was out first experience with alpaca and although tasty, it'll probably be our last. It was cooked nicely at medium rare, but I suspect that its a very lean meat and hence a bit on the chewy side. The accompanied sauce however was delicious. I can't remember what our server called it, but she said it was a local sauce.
The ravioli was nice; cooked to al dente but the chicken was dry.
All in all, a nice experience for two weary travellers.
