Edna has dedicated her life to preserving a chapter of our shared human history, for which we should all be attentive toward and grateful to learn about. Our ancestors paved the way to building the future we enjoy today, and it is largely thanks to the property owners' kind-hearted efforts that we members of the public have access to this piece of history they have unlocked for us. The passion and altruism that Edna holds is increasingly rare in today's world, prioritizing morality above profits, and legacy above all else. She welcomes you into her home to share with you not only her own family history, but also the history and happenings of both ancient and contemporary cultures, all of which deserve greater attention by Panamanian and foreign visitors alike, than any amount of wealth, entertainment, or self-centered nonsense. Please, I invite you, to put aside your concerns of today, and step back in time to a healthier, fascinating way of being, in an extraordinarily special environment and residence that rests atop the same site as our precious ancestors of Sitio Barriles. Trust me, visiting is worth your while, and I wish the very best to everyone involved. Muchas gracias!

What a nice surprise was visiting this place. The cutest couple of Chiriquí will give you a very thorough presentation about the history of Panama and Sitio Barriles, and all the efforts to keep this historic site alive. The site is not only a guide about the ancient civilization but also a very interesting tour on local fauna and plants, the beautifully kept gardens are an entertaining hike.

The place is very close to Volcán Town, you can also get home made cheese, cookies, and even ginger bread. I hope many people go to this place to keep the flame of history alive. Totally recommended.

If you want a short hike that is BEAUTIFUL, stop here. It’s worth your time. The little explanation on the patio with pictures was helpful but we loved exploring the site by ourselves. Since it was raining she doesn’t walk with you. The place was set up nicely and well cared for. With so much foliage I was surprised at how manicured and cleaned up everything was. Would love to come back here when in the area.

Do not miss! Where else can you actually hold a pot thousands of years old? This is a window to a past civilization. The owners of the farm are doing their best to preserve everything without much help from others. I really appreciate them.

Sitio Barriles is an eye opening visit to the little known home of the "barrel people".
Lovingly cared for by the family that has lived on the land, they will walk and talk you through the digs and surrounding area as you learn much about the people and their lives.
A wonderful adventure that is not to be missed.

This a small museum/ garden/ archeological site run by the owners of the properties and local guides who have experience in digging for artifacts. Interesting history of the region even though most of the important pieces are not found in situ.
Do have a cup of coffee...

A pity that Panama does not have a natural history museum. There are some artifacts that have been dated by German archaeologists at 3000 years old. A hidden treasure well worth a visit.

What a beautiful and interesting place. Edna the owner and guide is very passionate about its history. At the end of the tour we got homemade marmalade and cheese. Both were delicious and very inexpensive. Loved the guava marmalade.

This place is amazing. $5 per person for the tour. TAKE THE TOUR! Edna is a fantastic guide and adds so much to the visit. The artifacts were so unexpected. The civilization was apparently ended by a volcan baru eruption.

One of the best memories I'll have in my travels. The host lady, Edna...adorable, informative, well-defined. The site is of the utmost authenticity. She tells the whole story of the history of the site, and eventual property of her family. A lot if pride here. They have homemade cheese and jams for tasting with no sales pitch...but you CAN buy the products very affordable. Tour and a couple ample containers for under 10 bucks. Super stop!

I highly recommend this neat place ~ the docent/owner was very knowledgeable and seemed very happy to share her place with us. Along with the archaelogical artifacts and dig, she gave us a tour of her land and the little rainforest jungle on her land.
