I visited the Wooden Shoe Factory in Marken a few days ago during my vacation, and it was a highlight. The demonstration of how they used to make wooden shoes versus how they do it now was super interesting.
It's amazing to see the skill and craftsmanship that goes into each pair. Plus, the quality of the shoes they have for sale is really top-notch. If you're ever in the Netherlands, it's worth a visit to see this unique piece of Dutch culture up close. Definitely a memorable part of my trip!

Great time seeing traditional dutch clogs being made. The man demonstrating was awesome and extremely knowledgeable and skilled. He prett much turned a regular block of wood into the shape of a clog in less than 10 minutes. Definitely worth the trip here to learn some interesting facts about dutch tradition.

Visited as part of a tour group, interesting place the guy who gave the demo was funny and very knowledgeable, I enjoyed it very much.

Unique experience to learn and watch the making of the historic wooden shoes of Netherlands. Have the working steam engine and machines from the early 1900s on display and the process is demonstrated as part of the tour.

This attraction is a Dutch wooden shoe workshop with equipment dated far back, still running on steam engine rather than by modern electricity from the wall.
The one demonstrating the shoe making successfully show us how a wooden shoe is made with modern tools so it took least than 5min. He has made trip so enjoyable even though it was freezing cold that day. Afterwards, you can try on the shoe in the gift shop. Certainly to make a stop if you are in this part, like Edam, Markt and Volendam.

A phenomenal experience, the tour they take inside, in addition to the enormous variety of shoes, is great!

To know more about the clogs was such an amazing experience 😉 the guide was super, talking both in English and Spanish . We watched demonstrations how the wood is carved into the shape of a shoe 🫣

At the factory one can also buy clogs, though seam a little expensive, around 40 euros 💶

Great place. Ingenious commercial modelling to keep the art alive. Entire experience is well orchestrated..there is a good element of joy, fun, freshness and humor. A worthwhile visit.

This is such a fun experience for anyone interested in the rich history of the Dutch. It was wonderful to receive a complete demonstration of a wooden log being turned into a clog within minutes. You can try on your size, buy a pair or 10 (whatever floats your boat). Amazing staff all around this excursion and in the towns of Volendam, Marken, and Zaanse Schans. Will happily return again.

Nice experience altogether. The whole process of wooden shoe making is properly displayed. They still use steam engine to power different machines used in the process.

Must visit shoe factory 🏭 if you ever visit Amsterdam! Loved everything here... In this small outside shore town... People are so welcoming and friendly!!

Probably best part of the tour, very informative presentation by a very enthusiastic young employee on how cloggs are made....enjoyed this very much.

I went to wooden shoe Factory in "Marken" (a beautiful village in North Holland, Netherlands) where "Joe well" explained the importance of Wooden shoe along with how they prepare them.
Shoes are water resistant and that is the main reason people in Holland wear wooden shoes as wooden shoes keep the feet warm and dry despite of having lot of rain, especially farmers use them to walk in the filed.
Shoes with all sizes are available and one can buy them as souvenir.

Friendly staff, showed us exactly how the shoes are made & we were able to try them on and ask any questions regarding the shoes
