De Petrakerk is gebouwd in 1957 wat in de stijl goed zichtbaar is. Tot het complex behoort ook een pastorie en een kosterij. Kenmerkend is de rotskei op het plein voor de kerk. In het Grieks is petra te vertalen met rots of fundament. In 1995 kocht de Gereformeerde kerk (vrijgemaakt) dit complex. Tijdens de opening in 1995 stond in de kerkdienst Mattheus 16 centraal, waarin Jezus zegt: op deze petra (U bent de Messias, de Zoon van de levende God) zal ik mijn gemeente bouwen. In 1995 werd de isolatie en kleur aangepast aan de eisen van de tijd. De kerk heeft een elektro -pneumatisch orgel met veel mogelijkheden.In 2023 werd het gebouw verkocht aan een projectontwikkelaar.

Mooie lokatie. We willen daar gaan oefenen met onze Zanggroep Voices. We hebben overigens nog ruimte voor nieuwe leden. Vooral Alten zijn welkom :-)

About IJmuiden
City in the Netherlands

IJmuiden is a port city in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is the main town in the municipality of Velsen which lies mainly to the south-east. Including its large sea locks, it straddles the mouth of the North Sea Canal to Amsterdam. To the south it abuts a large reserve of plant-covered dunes, the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. The city is on the south bank; the north bank is otherwise a steel plant and Velsen-Noord. It is 10 kilometres north northwest of Haarlem which is 18 kilometres due west of Amsterdam.
