Gym SPORTJA Leiden

Fantastic gym. I have been going for a year now and absolutely love it. Plenty of space, high quality equipment for a range of strength athletes. The staff is very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. I think it is a testament you often see them training there as well. There is plenty of strongman equipment, which I love!

I've been training Olympic Weightlifting here for more then 2 years and whenever I visit another gym I'm so glad to be back& have acces to sportja. I feel like barelly anyone harshly judges eachother on their athletic abilities, there is a place for those who just come in whenever they feel like it and those who train almost every day and this to me feels like best of both worlds.

The gym is at a nice location, easy to reach, it has a high ceiling (wich is something i personally allways look for, but i know a lot of ppl dont care at al) . The barbells and other equipment are of high quality and well used, with the gym staff actively adding and replacing things that need to be fixed.

There are quite a lot of ppl who come to sportja for some sort of sport specific training, from Weightlifters and Powerlifters to Rugby players and Track athletes, to Calistenics and Crossfitters. Which is really cool because they are often very passionate about what they do.
(I think it's good to note here that it has to me, never felt like anyone was placing themselves above another person just because they were fitter. There can be friendly competition 1 on 1, but there is barely any elitism going on as far as I am aware)

Also i thought that it would be good to note that I as a queer person have experienced this gym as a very lgbtq friendly place.

All in all 10 out of 10 would recommend. And so does my sister who moved to another city for her studies and always says she misses having a gym like sportja whenever she is back in Leiden and we go train together. I think that in itself says enough right ;).

Cozy gym, not too big, very nice people and staff. First entry + 3 training sessions are free, then you can decide whether to get a membership. The only thing missing in my opinion is a hangboard!

Best gym I have seen. All the equipment looks good, they have an outside area, and they have the equipment you want to use (multiple squad racks, lifting zones, freeweights, benches, some machines, an amazing calisthenics area, and more.
Also friendly and knowledgeable staff which is great

Amazing gym. Very friendly and educated gym. Definitely recommend it if you want to avoid the typical commercial gyms. Really builds the sense of community

I was searching for a gym like this. Lots of free weights, great atmosphere. Big calisthenics corner.
I always thought I was lifting right, but the trainers at Sportja helped me on how I can improve my form.

A lot of my friends are now a member of Sportja and they don't regret it!

Great gym, been training here for years. Great trainers, good atmosphere, mixed public (recreational, competitive, fitness, all ages). Diverse equipment, both free weights, machines and calestenics.

Competitive environment, very knowledgeable trainers, awesome community. A variety of equipments for functional and strength training, whether it's power lifting, Olympic weightlifting or calisthenics. This is the right place to be!!!

Great equipment, and an open/stimulating environment. Great place for powerlifting and sport- fitness advice. Definitely a recommendation

Fijne gym! Ruim een jaar bezig hier en voelde me (in vergelijking met andere gyms) niet onzeker door het fit boy/girl imago! Nu heb ik kunnen doorzetten en in combinatie met de fysio is het een goede locatie!

Al jaren lid en helaas door mijn verhuizing moeten opzeggen. Mega fijne gym, met genoeg ruimte en apparatuur om al je kracht oefeningen uit te voeren. Chille sfeer, iedereen kent elkaar en ik heb me altijd op me gemak gevoeld.
