I was happily surprised by these caves. We were lucky the weather was bad when we went, because of that we didn't had to wait long to get in. Really loved the whole Christmas ambiance they created inside🎄 and it was not just food what you could buy (which is often often at Christmas markets). Instead they sold a lot of nice and original Christmas things. It felt truly magical.✨ Would highly recommend

Amazing cave with a large number of wall paintings. In November and December there is a very nice Christmas market with a large selection of different Christmas stuff, clothes and decorations. The food is only after a while, they have some great places to eat something, there are stroopwafels and some Italian cannoli. The temperature in the caves is nice amd around 10 degrees. It is recommended to buy tickets in advance, buying tickets on spot requires you to take a very long line. If you have electronic tickets you will be inside in 10-20 minutes.

Fantastic Christmas market inside caves. Always busy but we got there early. Nice natural constant temprature makes browsing comfortable. Highly recommended, you don't need to book you can pay on entry. Nice range of Christmas goodies and other items.

This was our first Christmas market experience in a cave and we were not disappointed

It was a magical land from the time we stepped inside

The Christmas decorations were beautiful and pretty. Also the other things that were available.

I could not stop myself from clicking the pictures and checking different products on display.

This is a shoppers paradise shopping for Christmas 🎁⛄

The cave is beautiful because of the history it carries and represents.
It's very cold inside, and if you stop looking at the small markets that exist, even more so!!!
There is very little variety of markets inside, all dedicated to Christmas. Other types of products are missing.
At least there is a bar to stop and have something hot!!!!

Very cute cave to visit during Christmas. It has a lot of stands but not very traditional ones. You will see basic markets for like phonecases but there is definetly some Christmas stuff in there. The whole walk takes about an hour and now that you have to reserve a time spot it won't be that crowded. I would recommend having cash on you as the signal is really bad in the mines so the pin probably won't work. There is also a restaurant in the middle of the network which only accepts cash.

The Christmas market is the most amazing thing to see. Not only do you get to see the beauty of the caves, but the decorations and shops are spectacular! Bring Cash because only some shops can take your chip card.

Absolutely magnificent during Advent and from 15 November until Christmas. Good selection of goods, beautiful decorations. Take time for a 2 hour visit.

Very nice cave with lot of charcoal paintings. In the winter there is a Christmas market inside. The tour is about an hour. Very nice guide. Fun and informative.

We had a nice tour through the Fluweelengrot. The guide was a funny guy what gives it an extra dimension. It is a 50 minutes’ walk trough the caves and you will see multiple well-made artworks on the walls. In the second world war it is used as hiding place. At the exit you will find the ruins of a castle on top of a small hill.

Great place to hide from the Cold ❄🥶 but the prices are higher than on the ground. I recommend buying tickets in advance

I used museum card at the castle and then tried to used it again to enter this cave. However, the lady at front desk told me that I could only use the museum card once a day at this place and refused to let me into the cave. However it totally doesn’t make any sense for me as the entrance of the castle and the cave are different.

They eventually helped me to fix this issue and they were very kind. I did appreciate. If anyone is planning to visit here I highly recommend you to visit this cave before visiting the castle to make sure you can use your museum card.

A tour in this marl cave system will show you the art, stories and local history from medieval times until the second world war who's signs are still there. It's a constant 12°C and very dark, but the guide has a light. The tour is given mainly in Dutch, but English questions can also be answered. Not very suitable for people who aren't good on foot, although the cave floor had no obstacles. Afterwards you can visit the beautiful castle ruin of Valkenburg. Would recommend to everyone!
