A really beautiful place to visit. It was interesting learning about how the windmills function and what their purpose is. We had a wonderful tour guide who knew a lot about how to maintain and operate the windmills. If you get the opportunity to go inside the one windmill open to the public, take it! So interesting seeing the inside. There is a restaurant here and a very nice gift shop. Lots of opportunities for beautiful pictures.

Highlight of my trip to Rotterdam! We caught the waterbus from Erasmus Bridge for 14€pp. We enjoyed walking the trails and taking in the scenery. It was a lovely, calm day away from the bustle of Rotterdam. We purchased pfofferjes? from a man with a small cart on the walk for 3.5€ for 9 pieces. They were delicious. Drinks were also sold starting at 1€! Great value for a snack. There is no fee to walk the trails at Kinderdijk only to enter the historic bldgs. This is a great daytrip!

**Kinderdijk, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a must-see for any visitor to the Netherlands. The 19 windmills, built in the 18th century, are a testament to the Dutch ingenuity and determination to control the water.**

The windmills are located in the Alblasserwaard region of the Netherlands, a low-lying area that is prone to flooding. The windmills were built to pump water out of the land, draining it and making it suitable for farming.

The windmills are still in use today, and they are a popular tourist destination. Visitors can take boat tours of the area, or they can hike or bike along the canals.

Kinderdijk is a beautiful and fascinating place to learn about the Dutch history and culture. It is a truly unforgettable experience.

Here are some of the things that make Kinderdijk a special place:

* The windmills are in excellent condition, and they are a testament to the craftsmanship of the Dutch people.
* The windmills are located in a beautiful natural setting, surrounded by canals, fields, and forests.
* Kinderdijk is a popular tourist destination, but it is still a relatively peaceful and serene place to visit.

If you are looking for a unique and memorable experience, I highly recommend visiting Kinderdijk.

Really beautiful place but need to walk for long way or else you can rent a bike or bicycle to see those views. Each windmill gives different experience and each place gives different vibes. Overall great place . We can take sooo many good photos and place gives different angle and different size of windmill so we can enjoy the whole few without fail. But there they had few food court and very few food items so better take so good and drink with you so you can eat and walk for that long without getting tired. Boat service also available. We can go inside some windmill houses and they can see some rare things and items they used a long time ago like wooden shoe and thread mill and mechanism of wind mill and current production . Had a good and new experience . Luckily had so many wallpaper pics than expected 😹😹

We visited during winter of 2023 on boxing day. This is a unesco site with 19 fully functioning windmills and it’s a perfect place for families and friends to experience the cultural heritage of the netherlands. Opens at 10:30 so you can take the 10:00 water bus from rotherdam. This is an outdoor area which can get very windy so makesure to wear enough clothing. The site includes 2 windmill musuems, one boat musuem, a boat tour and a musuem about the history with a short 11 minute film. Very worth your time and money as we came here specifically from a cruise ship. Learned quite a lot of the ingenuity of the ditch and how they make the windmills work. There’s a cafe and souvenir shop at the ticket office near the entrance but i recommend you bring some pack lunch.

This is a unique place, a Unesco heritage site with the highest concentration of windmills in the Netherlands. There are 19 windmills located side by side along the canals. In the past they used to pump water from the polders into the canals. You can enter two of them to see the interior, get a boat ride to enjoy the view from the water, and watch an informative movie. There is a caffee and souvenir shop. You will need 2-3 hours to fully enjoy the beauty and serenity of this place. It is accessible from Rotterdam by a boat.

The windmills of Kinderdijk are very pretty, historic, and elegant along the canals of the Netherlands. Great tour by our guide / volunteer Jos. Loved the walking areas, and there was a canal boat option we did not take.

This was an unusual experience, you can experience nice scenery, you can choose to walk or ride a bike around. Sometimes bikes are not available for unknown reasons (or at least not understandable for me) and that would be the only remark. Other than that, definitely worth of visiting and experiencing. Entrance fee is a bit on the high side.

Nice place to visit, even it deserves to come from Amsterdam as a day trip plan. You can go through the site without ticket but if you want to visit inside of the mills and have chance to take a ferry you should buy ticket. Price of ticket is about 18 euro. It has cafe, souvenir shop, toilet and parking lots. Enjoy nature, beauty, creativity and engineering there. Don't forget to ask leaders to tell you the function of the mills.

Kinderdijk is a fabulous way to get a better idea of Dutch ingenuity and how much of The Netherlands was created. There are 19 windmills; 2 are open to the public and the remainder are private residences. There’s a great entry/visitor’s centre which also has a gift shop, café, rooftop viewing area, and washrooms (paid, or included with ticket or purchase). With your ticket and a download of the free app, you get two versions of a guided tour, access to a multimedia film explaining the name and other factors, the historical pump house with interesting hands-on displays and a little shop, a bird exhibit, a boat tour which leaves/returns by the pump house, a hop on/off boat to the two windmills, and entry to the two windmills.

It was fascinating and informative, a great way to spend several hours. Easy to get here from Rotterdam on the #21 WaterBus.

Note that you can walk or cycle past the windmills without cost, but you can’t enter, use washrooms, see displays, go on boat, etc.

Really nice place, worth to visit, easy to get there from Rotterdam with the waterbus number 21 😊takes approximately 30 mins. We didn’t visit the museum (it costs €16 each), we just walked around.

The windmills are well preserved history. Really cool to see them in person still in working condition. Interesting to learn how they were used to pump water out of the below sea level reclaimed land.

Great place to visit, very picturesque and with an interesting history. It’s worth doing an organised tour with a guide, so that you get to hear the full story of the windmills.

Always one of the places you are told you must visit in the Netherlands but the local Dutch call it "too touristy". Really cool to see the history of the windmils as well as life how it used to be in the past. The only downside is it was around 19 euros to go to 2 museum and value wise it totally was not worth it. I understand the money is used to keep up the sites, preserve the history, etc but when it comes to straight value, it should have been priced at 8-10 euros. Overall nice bike path and walking paths as well.

Really enjoyed my time here. We drove into the area and there was parking available at EUR9.50. The parking is located next to a souvenir shop which provided bicycles for rent. From there it was a direct access to the windmills. Stunning sight and definitely worth the time to get there. Certainly do drop by on a nice day.

Exploring Kinderdijk UNESCO World Heritage Site was a captivating journey into Dutch history and engineering brilliance. The iconic windmills set against serene landscapes offer a picturesque glimpse into the country's past. The informative tours provided a deeper understanding of the region's battle against water. A visit to Kinderdijk is a must for history enthusiasts and anyone seeking a tranquil escape in the Netherlands.

A wonderfully atmospheric place near Rotterdam, you can drive your car directly or leave it in a large free parking lot

A chilly day in February, and the museum wasn't open, but it's still a fabulous place to walk around and take in the amazing scenery.
We got the water bus from Rotterdam Erasmus Bridge, and then returned from a different stop. Very straightforward.
