What a job they are doing here taking care and rehabilitating these poor and abused creature. They have more than 5 orangutans here, all looking healthy and beautiful waiting to be sent back to the wild. There are sunbears too

The 5 star is for the nearby river (less than 10 minutes walk from the hostel) where we had water fun as a family. We stayed one night at the hostel and at RM40 per night we don’t expect much. It’s a perfect place to get away from the noisy city. It’s quite, you breathe fresh air and to rest and relax. Wifi is available and signal is strong.

Bring your kids here for a fun day out. There's a picnic spot at the entrance with a cool stream so rmbr to pack your extra clothes

I love the tortoise area and hornbills. My nephew enjoyed himself so much. It was definitely a good day out.

Matang is truly amazing place. As a former volunteer to this centre, i can understand why some people come, see animals locked in cages, and get upset or think its a bad place. Its a common misconception. Majority of these animals live in enclosures because they cannot be reintroduced into the wild. Some of them rescued from illegal pet trades/circuses, some of them injured, etc. If these animals were let free, they wouldnt make it on their own. They haven't developed the skills to do so. Matang tries to provide a happy, stimulating life for these animals, and people dedicate their lives to this. Some of the animals are actually rehabilitated and released back into the wild as well. Its all circumstantial. It depends on any given animals' individual story/situation whether this animal will one day see the jungle again. Unfortuantely this isnt always the case, and yes, its sad to see animals locked up. But please consider what got the there in the forst place before critiquing. If you have any question about any animal, ask a staff member. Theyll be glad to explain the animal's story, why theyre there, and so forth.

This is for the wildlife and the frog walk with Dominic, not the accommodation (would give that a solid 4 star rating). We saw 8 species of frogs, including the 2nd tiniest frog in the world. Outstanding.

Although the place can be a bit sad, as there are many animals in cages, the centre does a really good effort to keep the animals as happy as possible.

They have to stay for a period in the centre before they can be released.

Nice place to visit, lots of life protected local wild animals can be viewed throughout the national park jungle trails. Huge cages were built within the jungle to have sufficient natural and secure habitat fir the animals. Some of the wildlife found here are orang utans, hornbills, sun bears, crocodiles, tortoises, jungle cats and many others. There is also an exhibition gallery at the wildlife centre. Awesome nature learning experience for the young and old alike.

Fantastic job in conserving and rehabitating Orang utan. A 360 program is in place to take care, grow, train a city born orang utan, from admission, nursery, primary, secondary, release and monitoring to ensure the city orang utan can go back and survive in forest.

After not seeing any orangutans at Semenggoh we went here so that my little boy could see them. We weren't disappointed. They truly are magnificent. Lots of hornbills here too.

A very nice place. Very calm, peace. The wildlife are very exciting to watch and interact. I fall in love with the Clouded Leopard. If you walk by him please stay for awhile. He will come to you. And will be very sad when you walk away after sometime.

Orangutan rehabilitation center. Very nice forest walk, easy for anyone. Other than Orangutan z they also manage other animals such as tortoises, different types of monkeys, porcupines, crocodiles, sun bears, hornbills etc. One can spend two hours here.

Been here as a volunteer to help with building the place back up. During COVID this place had to work with minimal staff, but now with more volunteers coming to help, we can help rebuilding and make everything more comfortable for the animals, some of which cannot return to the wild. don't consider this place as a zoo.. it's a rehabilitation center to heal and bring animals back to nature or give them some comfort if they cannot go back to nature.

I get to see orang utan for the first time. And the trail offers quite a wonderful walk around the park. The picnic spot is a relaxed and great place for the soul and mind.
