Just past Temozon, the smoked meat capital of Mexico you will find a dozen or more cenotes that are well off the tourist route. Cenote Dzalby in the town of the same name (stray dog capital) is one of these. Follow the signs or Google maps ... it is accurate. It won't feel like it is as every town you go through is smaller than the last and a bit more run down, but it is worth the drive. The road to get there is good, very few potholes or topes. The last couple of metres are bumpy. The cenote is a large cave with a couple of holes in the top that let the sun in. A dozen steep steps and a bit dark at the beginning then easy. Go slow, wait for your eyes to adjust. 100 pesos to enter. Cooperative operated. No change rooms or bathrooms but that is part of the charm. Big parking lot, they must have big hopes of tour buses. Get there before this happens. I could only wish every cenote had this authentic charm. If you like this cenote look up "Cenotes"of Cuzuma.

Ok, so this is NOT a beautiful vine filled cenote. It's underground, and only naturally lit. But absolutely stunning nevertheless.

The owner adds to the charm. My boyfriend was nervous about getting in the water, so the owner got in with him. It was absolutely charming.

We saw no one else the whole time we were there. The owner told us visitors are rare.

Try to go at noon, when the maximum light comes in the ceiling holes.

We had the whole cenote for ourselves!! We had been there at around 2-4 pm so the sun would stand perfectly and the local guy could illuminate the cave with some self-built reflectors. Great experience and only 50 Pesos per person!

The cenote is amazing! It's not exactly in the location, just park and ask the locals - it's 5-10 minutes of walking. We were alone there.

Google directions are NOT accurate. Do not turn the second left just keep going straight and you’ll see the signs for the parking. It’s $100 pesos per person as of January 2023. There is a guy who will walk you to the entrance and down.

This cenote is so worth it. It has crystal clear water, is a bit more shallow than some others with some parts to actually swim in, it’s off the beaten path and we basically had the place to ourselves for two hours. Only a handful of people came at the end. This place was so raw and real. Unlink anything I've ever seen.

I wouldn’t do this one until after 12pm because of the way the sun hits unless you want a pretty dark experience. There are electric lights also but it's dark compared to other cenotes without the sun shining. Also the path down is steep and the steps are tiny. There is a rope to hold onto but I wouldn’t do it if you have any knee or balance issues. It was pretty slippery.

It is an awesome experience. We had the whole Cenote just for us since this place is not heavily advertised as others are. There are no services in place so you have to come prepared with your bathing suit.

A really interesting cenote that is different from the other two I have visited. You have to walk down into the cave. The staff is very helpfull and explains you about what you see there. The cave is big and there are several small openings that let in the sunlight (best during 12 and 2). After visiting the cenote the owner took us to another cenote close by. This adventurous hike led to a more open cenote which has a real jungle feeling to it. The entrance fee was only 50 pesos! Great place and we were the only ones there.

A great, basically secret cenote which is very unspoilt by tourism. Me and my wife were the only ones there and were amazed by the natural beauty inside. Definitely recommended.

Sort of accidentally ended up here. Nobody else was there. No facilities. A very friendly man led us into a beautiful, peaceful cenote for only a tip-like amount of money. The entrance is somewhat tiny and scary but this leads quickly into the spacious cenote. He knew a lot to tell about it (all in Spanish) and did his best to give us a nice tour. Off the beaten track and very basic, but definitely worth a visit if you’re into those kinds of tiny adventures.

If you don’t like overcrowded cenotes where you have to wear life jacket then this is the one! Located in garden of local man in Dzalbay you just get an authentic cenote experience. Lightened only by natural light but with massive speleothems all around the cave. Amazing!

Totally astounding cenote! We were alone and it only cost 50 pesos. It was a little bit hard to find but we asked a local kids and they helped us.

Unglaublich beindruckend!
