La Chaya Maya Casona

Picked the restaurant from the google and reviews so let me help the others too. Staff is super nice, we walked in 6 of us and they fitted us is right away. Menu is in English and Spanish, server spoke fluent English as well. We had 6 different dishes and everyone loved theirs, plus presentation is very nice. Atmosphere is such a lovely vibe, even on a hot day it was a nice breeze and not too hot. Beers were delicious, cocktails as well. Loved that server offered appetizers right away and we ordered some and we loved them!

Bill for 6 people was less than 2000 pesos and we all had several drinks. I think it’s very good deal.

It's my second visit and they really don't disappoint me. Everything is delicious and the portion is quite generous.
I just recommend that dessert be shared because it is too much.

I was really surprised how good the food was. I had a white fish filet (percha?) in a delicious, rich, green cream sauce with rice. I can't tell you what my nephew had, but he loved it; very tender chicken in a not spicy brown sauce. Home made tortillas--in fact we can two women in traditional dress making them (masa?).

Service was excellent, very attentive. The atmosphere was quite nice. Inner courtyard, and a large open air room with high ceiling fans (no A/C). At dinner, there is a huge inside dining room that I don't think they open for lunch or breakfast.

Somewhat expensive for Mexico, but very high quality, very fresh. I would certainly return.

This place is a must. Yucatecan cuisine varies from the usual Mexican cuisine, and this is one of the best places to get a taste of it.

As soon as you go in, you'll see women making hand made tortillas, nothing can beat that. You can't go wrong with panuchos and Cochinita Pibil. Everything on the menu looks amazing.

This place is a little slice of heaven. It’s so peaceful here. A wonderful way to start or end your day. I don’t think the reviews or even the photos really do this place justice. It feels like you are slipping into a different period of time. It’s wonderfully accented with touches off colonial architecture, but elevated to atmospheric heights with it’s presentation of Mayan culture. This place is a must stop during your time in Merida.

Everything was just right at La Chaya Maya! The food was fabulous, the service was super nice, the location and atmosphere was great. I can highly recommend it and will come back! :)

Food was good but served entirely too fast... Not even a hint that it was other than mass produced earlier in the day.

AMAZING food - best papdzules in Mérida :). Good vegetarian options. I’d love them to make mushroom or cauliflower pibil 🙏🏽.

The cuisine at this establishment is exceptional, complemented by attentive service. The ambiance is steeped in tradition, reflecting both in the food and decor. While some locals may view it as too commercialized, it remains an excellent destination for those visiting to experience authentic traditional dishes during their stay.

Everything that is said about this place is true. Great food (a little pricey), great service (attentive and helpful staff) and great atmosphere ( "la casona" is just beautiful and dining at the patio is a must). While there are possibly other good places for tasting local cuisine, a visit to La Chaya Maya shouldn't be missing in your trip plans for Mérida.

We went to have dinner and the food was excellent. Great service and a big menu selection. My wife ordered an artesanal Mayan beer, I did ordered the Chaya lima waters. For dinner we ordered the 4 mayan order for two.

Delicious food, great drinks and good atmosphere.
The place is spacious and nicely decorated. From ordering the food tomreceiving it, you only wait some minutes.
Taste wise it’s really good and the portion was properly sized as well.
If you want to try some Yucatecan food, this is one of the great places to give a try.

Cochinita pibil is absolutely fire!! Soooo good! Hand made tortillas in front of you. Doesn’t get fresher than this! 10/10

Recommended by tour guides AND locals. I enjoyed several meals here. Authentic Yucatan food but also very inviting and friendly. A calm and relaxing interior (Sundays were very crowded and filled with families). You can download the (extensive) menu in English easily via the QR code at the table. Please see the photos...everything was delicious, one word of caution, you'll see the chopped egg dish - SHARE that one as I'm guessing 1/2 dozen eggs went into that one though the waiter said only 3! LOL

This restaurant is absolutely amazing. The queso relleno was divine. It had a little sauce delicious. The lima soup was excellent. The chaia and pineapple drink was great. The chia lime too. The Horchata was not real.the food was great and it was amazing to see the girls doing tortillas. They were delicious. The location was great and too the decorations. I really recommend it.
