El Anafre Rojo

Great food. Ordered the waffles, cafe de olla, eggs and an apple/ginger drink. Atmosphere is nice. I had a view of the cathedral that is across the street.

Excellent food and great atmosphere. The staff were friendly and they even had both Spanish and English menus.

The food at this restaurant is the best we had this trip to Mexico. Have the Pueblo mole (chicken) the stews - we had lamb and shank.

We were there at noon on a Saturday and we’re surprised that they still only had the breakfast menu, but it was delicious. We had jugo verde which was a mix of all kinds of goodness. I got the mole de olla which I cannot recommend enough. It was like a super rich, slightly spicy beef stew with carrots, squash, potatoes, radishes and who know what else served with slow braised beef shanks. There was so much depth of flavor I am salivating just writing this.

This restaurant is part of the Hotel El Señorial (which is also a great option if you'd like to stay in the historic district of Puebla). We ate here 3 times and every time was a delightful experience, the chef here delivers a combination of deliciousness and beauty in his/her dishes. We just couldn't help coming back. The waiters and waitresses were also super friendly and attentive. All in all, if you are in the area, "El Anafre Rojo" will not disappoint, just drop by, no need for reservations (at least we didn't need any).

I have been twice for breakfast. I ordered huevos motulenos, absolutely delicious with a nice kick. I ate alone and sat by the window with an amazing view of the church San Cristobal. Both times the service was outstanding. Thank you Ismael y Ricardo. Highly recommend

The food is delicious, mostly from Puebla but the menu also includes other kind of Mexican food, very well prepare and in creative styles. The environment is very comfortable and sophisticated. And it is in a great location in the center of the city. Finally, it has very economic prices for what you receive. Expect a bill of no more than US$25 for two people with drinks (non-alcohol), appetizers, soup and main dishes.

This is one of the greatest places to eat in Puebla. The restaurant it's clean and cozy. The staff is friendly and prone to help.
The food it's great, tasty and colorful.
The Chile en nogada is a major dish in Mexican cuisine. If made it right it's a delicatessen. The season fruits (pomegranate) and seeds plays a big part in this dish.

One of the few restaurants in the area opened before 8am. The Cafe de Olla and Omelette Poblano were to die for! This will definitely be a must stop on all my future visits.

I never liked mole poblano...until I tried it here. Deffinetely my must visit place whenever I visit Puebla

Delicious Poblano food with cozy decor and attentive service.

Excellent expression of fine Poblano dining. The presentation is beautiful and the food is unique and delicious. I highly recommend the degustación de moles. It comes with a sampling of mole negro de chocolate, pipian verde, a mole rosa made with white chocolate, wine and pine nuts and a Mareycuya mole made with real fruit.

The Anafre salad is also an outstanding choice. Touches of goat cheese, chapulins and a mezcal jicama vinaigrette make this one a rare specialty.

Great service, nice atmosphere and very reasonable priced for the quality and craftsmanship.

I make a point to come here whenever I’m in Puebla.

For those who know the restaurant that was here before be prepared to be amazed by the change, for those who are just coming for the first time enjoy the new concept being given here.
From the moment you come in you find yourself in a restaurant that screams Puebla from every corner.
Very well designed, wonderful interiors, amazing food and great service made the experience one of the best I ever had in a restaurant in Mexico.
Both times I went (lunch and dinner) The waiter and the maitre d' were always attentive and fast to ask if we needed anything to provide it. Since it was our first time going to this new restaurant they were very good at recommending things from the menu to eat and drink. Personally I never enjoyed the taste of Mezcal in any way served, but yesterday after the waiter recommendation I tried one with berries in it and the flavor was above and beyond any of my expectations.
Plating is carefully and beautifully done for each one of the plates being served.
What made this restaurant stand out among others food wise is the fact that most of their traditional plates are done 100 in an 'artesanal' way. Like the mole and butter. And service wise is the attention to details being given through all the visit.
I highly recommend this visit and considering it's location is a good place to have a meal in downtown Puebla without having the busy life surrounding you
