To access this beach for free you must hike to it. It’s a short but strenuous 2 mile round trip hike on AllTrails starting in Boca. You will start on a paved trail in front of some houses and wind through the jungle before reaching the beach. It’s quite steep in some areas but we did it in flip flops and were fine. There is daily parking in Boca for 100 pesos cash only. I heard this was an excellent snorkeling beach but unfortunately the day we went the water was extremely turbulent and the sky was covered. Still it was very fun to jump and dive under the rough waves! Definitely wasn’t crowded when we went. There’s a bar at this beach as well open to the public.

an easy walk from Boca de Tomatlan if you’re in shape. You can continue down towards more beaches or you can stay here. you can walk back or you can get a water taxi. Don’t try to swim back.

We had a private yacht that took us there and we did a hike and jumped off a cliff back to the boat!! It was an amazing experience that is memorable!!

Lovely little beach that wasn't particularly crowded when we visited on a Sunday afternoon - probably only a maximum of about 30 others on the beach when we were there. Sea was calm, clear and had lots of nice fish in. There's a restaurant there and also an additional more rough and ready bar which only sold beer and coconuts (not any water).

We walked from Boca which was a surprisingly tough walk - definitely take lots of water! That took about 40 minutes. Going back to Puerto Vallarta, I think we paid way more than we should have done for a water taxi at 1000 pesos for two people. But there didn't seem to be many taxis arriving or departing and it was getting quite late so went for it anyway. His original price was 2000 pesos so at least we got it down! We were the only ones in the taxi back and it was a pleasant journey so I didn't mind too much. That water taxi back took about 30 mins to the Zona Romantica.

Loved it here! After a difficult hike we chilled out and had a bevage. Service was great but the drinks were truly amazing! Great little hideaway!

Beautiful hike from Boca de Tomatlan. Takes about 30 minutes to get there. Highly recommended. Nice blue color of the sea. There is a rope you can swing on. Sandy beach with a restaurant. We had waves so you can't swim much. From there you can take a water taxi back or to other beaches. The water taxi can also be paid by card.

Amazing spot. A nice break if you're hiking the trail to stop and have a dip in the ocean. Pretty small though, I can see it being busy on weekends but there was only about a dozen people there mid afternoon on a Friday.

To be honest it's a fabulous beach! We were hiking from beach to beach through the mountains and all of them were epic!! It is a paradise, believe me!

This was the first stop on our hike to from Boca de Tomatlan to Los Animes Beach. It is a small but beautiful beach that is also home to a lovely little appointment only restaurant. We did not spend much time at this beach as we still had a good distance to hike. We came back a second time to enjoy Ocen Grill.

Quiet from 10 to 11, there’s a vendor on the beach.. I highly suggest the hike from Cabo.. once you reach Los Colomitos.. keep hiking (the stairs are on the other side of the beach by the ocean) and head towards Los Caballos! Its was a very peaceful beach

Nice small beach. Trail was somewhat difficult but we made it with 5 years old. Lots of people there and boats. Took a water taxi back for 50 pesos per person.

Came here during an overcast day and despite there not being a lot of sun, it was still a gorgeous beach! Calm water that is perfect for swimming, unlike the main beaches in Puerto Vallarta

Great beach, be prepared for a 40 minute hike or get a water taxi there, you may use public route bus from puerto vallarta, is $1 dollar only.

The beach is small but normally empty, is great for swimming as waves are non-existant in the place

We did a 1.4 mile hike from Boca de Tomatlan, you can also use the taxi boats for about $3 dollars each way.

So beautiful! We did the hike from Boca to Las Animas on a Monday. This beach wasn’t too busy, but we’ve heard it’s packed on the weekends (it’s also tiny keep in mind)

The hike itself is about 2.8 miles and took us an hour and 40 minutes from Boca to Las Animas. Starting at Boca you’ll be walking next to homes along the coast. It’s a little confusing but you’re going the right way if you stay against the coast. Wear water socks or good shoes for the hike as there are some precarious stairs to go up and down at different points.

We took a water taxi back to PV from Las Animas for 1,300 pesos.

Highly recommend the hike though if you’re fine with sweating a lot and getting some exercise. There’s three beaches along the way to dip in the water which will feel amazing when you’re so hot!

If you’re hiking to it be prepared! Comfortable hiking shoes are recommended (sandals are just not enough) and get there the earliest you can bc it tends to get super crowded! Remember this is a small beach so no privacy in holidays or weekends. I highly recommend hiking a little bit more to the next beach! Less people gets there

Wow!

We took an Uber to Boca and hiked through the jungle to get to Colomitos. The hike was awesome. Not just paved trail, but also not too intense. Just enough to work up a sweat so you are craving a swim when you get to the beach.

There was a small hut selling cerveza and coconut water but the prices were inflated. We brought our own cerveza to enjoy. We arrived around 10:30am or so and there weren’t too many people crowding the beach.

Would definitely do again.
