Mina Prehispánica de Taxco

The silver mine in Taxco is crazy. The silver content is ~65%, and this should be why native amaricans mined here. With light, you can see the shining silver, pretty rich! Also, there is mercury mine inside (>85%), which was used for extacting silver and also as
pigments for the Aztecs. After the tour, they will offer a cup of Mezcal cocktail which is nice.

I visited this mine from my hotel in Taxco, which was just a 6 minute walk away. I learned a LOT about the rich mining history and culture in this area, prior to colonization. The guide was absolutely knowledgeable and helpful. I was very impressed with how well-kept, organized, preserved, and maintained this venue is. After the tour, there is an EXCELLENT restaurant and bar for you to recharge and enjoy the wonderful views of the city.

Vast silver deposits, great tour

It brought chills within when we visited the place and saw the hidden beauty of silver and gold mines. Splendid experience and it was well organised to describe the ancient way of mining and what all minerals are available and how it used to be extracted. The end of the trip under mine was with mouth watering bebidas which again was commendable...

It's a place which had a lot of interesting information of many types, the guide is a very polite person who is going to give you a lot of knoweldge about the history of the place, the geology of the rocks in the Silver mine and it was discovered by accident.
In my humble opinion it is the most interesting place in Taxco and you should go yes or yes.

If you never seen ancient silver mine just go there. You will get the guide for your visit 🤫you will meet ancient miner ...

What a great tour guide. My kids loved it. The caves were much bigger than what I expected. I also loved the great stories. After you finish the tour you end up pool side with great views and a free drink to boot.

Entrance is now 180 pesos. Better go on a weekday as it's less crowded. Cool guide, shared lots of info about the mine. Cocktail at the end was meh. There's a gift shop at the end.

If you want to go to a distinctive place on your route in Mexico you must visit Taxco, Guerrero. Once there you can spend some time visiting the "Mina Prehispánica". You will love it.

The mine tour was spectacular! If you are in Taxco… this is an absolute must see!

Apparently the mine was discovered a few years back after an owner came in to renovate an old bar… when expanding in the back… they came across this prehistoric mine… I’m sure the guides will do a much better job of explaining the details!

The tour was well organized, very safe and a lot of fun!

I did not have the opportunity to checkout the hotel or any thing else at this location.

Really fun tour of a gold and silver mine found underneath a beautiful hotel. I thought it was interesting and informative. The site is thoughtfully and tastefully preserved. At the end of the tour, you get to relax at the hotel pool lounge with a drink and enjoy the beautiful view of taxco. I highly recommend it.

What a fantastic experience. A recently discovered old Chontal mine, dating back to the 15th century. Recently rediscovered in the basement of a hotel! Tastefully "restored" for access. Wonderful tour guide!!!
You will not be sorry you hit this!

I enjoyed this tour much more than the valenciana mine tour in Guanajuato! $150 pesos per person for a tour that lasts about 45 minutes. Then you can get a free drink after the tout by the bar next to the pool
