Maíz Criollo Mexico

This was the 1st place we had a meal in Puebla. What a fantastic meal we had!!!! The rib tacos were outstanding. The mole was great. To finish it all we had a delicious blue corn ice cream. Could not recommend this place any higher. It's a must.

Incredible food! The most creative and beautiful food in Puebla. My wife had a beautiful dish that was a play on American “shrimp and grits” with habanero grits and perfectly cooked butterflied shrimp. My dish was mole topped with a blue corn huarache, plantains, and crispy pork belly. For appetizers we had blue corn chalupas and blue corn esquites; both were simple dishes, but super flavorful and perfectly prepared. Definitely a bit pricier but worth the splurge once in a while. 110% recommended.

Over the past month, I have dined here on numerous occasions both for lunch and dinner. The food is excellent as well as the customer service. The cocktails are always well crafted and enjoyable. And you definitely have to have their carajillo.

We had read reviews that it is good but it exceeded our expectations. I had the pork belly huarache (with mole sauce - we're in Puebla) and my partner had the shrimp habanero. Both were fabulous - thanks Raff for your excellent cuisine. The restaurant closed at 9 so don't leave it too late but the menu all looks great!

Everything here was absolutely spectacular!!!! From the sangria, to the corn (which is like a delicious corn lime soup!!), to the short rib tacos that were packed with meat, to the pozole, and finally the corn cheesecake that was just a wonder. I normally can’t stand more than a bite or two of dessert, and I ended up eating half of it 😂 everything was INCREDIBLE. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in Puebla! You won’t be disappointed- and make sure you don’t skip dessert 🥰

Lovely atmosphere near the zocalo. We had the pozole and pan de elote. All were excellent. Nice varied menu. I definitely would eat there again.

One of the best meals from start to finish I've had in Mexico, that's saying a lot! Everything was very well done, seasoned well, and just delicious. Try the craft beer too! Great service, and reasonable prices. Will be back

A small cozy restaurant with excellent service, nice presentation and amazing flavours at very reasonable prices. I had the mole enchiladas and my wife had the pozole costilla cerdo, both were fantastic. For desert we split the rebanada pan elote with bola de helado which we both tremendously enjoyed. Luckily we are staying at the hotel next door so we will be back for sure. I highly recommend.

Wow! A highlight of not just my Puebla trip but all of my Mexico trip so far, the service and food was honestly incredible. If you are lucky enough to find this gem don't pass it up.

My husband and I stopped here for dinner. What a gem of a place! We shared the Picaditas and each had a pozole. I had the chicken and my husband had the pork. Everything was so fresh, flavorful and delicious! We shared the pan de elote with apple and ice cream for dessert. The service was lovely. Highly recommend! I hope to go back before we leave Puebla.

One of my favorites from a few days in Puebla. The food was very good, nicely served, and interesting, but without the over the top extravagance or price of nearby Mural.

There are many restaurant choices in Puebla, but I kept coming back to Maiz Criollo. After the 5th visit, I had room for desert and was not disappointed. The food is traditional but prepared and presented with a modern flair. All the dishes and the service were excellent. Do not hesitate to try this restaurant!

A little hidden restaurant in a side street, where generally rather less traffic than on the major tourist roads. Very exquisite beer and wonderfully prepared meat dish. Many, many thanks - it was a celebration.

What an absolute delight! We stepped in for lunch when passing through Puebla and had two of the best dishes we’ve had in Mexico. The oxtail was tender and in a fresh and delicious sauce, and the pork belly just sublime complete with delectable crispy skin. The service is super, fast and attentive. Would come back to Puebla (hungry) just to eat here again.

Great food! We loved the photos on other google reviews and the menu looked different but undeniably Mexican. We were very pleased with the food, and the service was excellent as well!

Every time we come to Puebla it’s must to go to Maiz Criollo. Puebla food is already next level, Maiz Criollo is probably some of the best restaurants in Puebla. The dishes are super unique, unlike food I’ve had anywhere else. Highly recommend their picaditas de acociles, rabo de toro and esquites de tuétano.

We had a wonderful meal here. César provided excellent service. Ox tail with yellow mole was delicious! Corn beer is refreshing. Highly recommended.

This is a great little restaurant! I love mole, chiles en nogada, and Pipian but it’s what every restaurant has here in Puebla! This artist stepped out some and made some unique creations. I guarantee there’s several things that you’ll want to try here and hopefully room for their dessert.
Customer service is top notch, really a easy recommendation.

Great place, great food

I have visit this place twice and surely will return, they have an amazing service but the food is extraordinary. I highly recommend you the “Huitlacoche Tacos” they full of flavor and it is a nice tarter and then you can enjoy any of the delicious options in the menu.

The beat thing is that probably you only want the starter but you prefer something different as a second and you can also order from the restaurants next to.
