What a great spot! We walked by this place many times before going to check it out and i wish we'd done it sooner. There is no a/c as it's basically outdoors (fans are there but it's definitely still warm). The people working there are so friendly and welcoming, and the food - so good! We had the French toast, waffles, chilaquiles and another dish (forget the name) and everything was delicious. The portion sizes are also quite reasonable for the cost. Green Juice was also great, you want to try it. I'd 100% recommend this spot and can't wait to go back next visit.

We stopped by for a delicious breakfast. I had the berry smoothie and breakfast burrito with chicken mole on top. The smoothie was great, nice, and thick with the perfect balance of different berries. The burrito was covered in green and red salsas. This was so tasty. The combination of the egg, salsas, and mole were a delight. Good sized portions also. A must eat destination when on Puerto Vallarta.

Absolutely glorious meal, small intimate setting, and they even brought out a fruit plate complements of the chef for my daughter (1.5 years old).

Some places I don’t want to post about because I want to keep it all to myself. This is one of those places. Expansive menu in both English and Spanish, takes credit card, amazing food and coffee! Will be going back every morning.

Hands down best breakfast spot in PVR. Enfrijoladas and tamales are out of this world. Great prices, beautiful presentation. They take a lot of care here.

Place was good! Nothing crazy but very good local breakfast that takes card. We spent about $32 USD for 3 dishes + 3 large drinks. We tipped cash 😊 we got the limonada, tropical smoothie, and green smoothie

A little off the beaten path… for some, but actually very central. Went here for brunch, 2 for 1 mimosas on Thursday and Saturday. The food here was exquisite, and the service was charming! They take their time to make sure the food is special. One of the best, most delicious food experiences in Puerto Vallarta!

We had the opportunity to try quite a few restaurants while staying in Puerto Vallarta for a month, and although we loved so many places, Macareno might be my ride or die. Macareno is family-owned and operated in a lovely space. There’s an open kitchen where you can see the chefs preparing delicious food, an airy interior with fans to keep the heat at bay, and plants to add a sense of lushness. The value for quality (including friendly service and the option to pay via credit card) that you get at Macareno is incredible!

Regarding drinks, we found ourselves constantly torn between the agua frescas of the day, cafe de olla (served with cookies!), and jugo verde. They’re all delicious and balanced in terms of sweetness—follow your heart, you can’t go wrong. The food is outstanding too. It’s colorful, aesthetically plated and tastes even better than it looks. We’ve tried huevos rancheros, huevos divorciadas, burritos, and huevos a la Mexicana. If you eat meat, don’t miss the chance to add pollo con tinga or pollo con mole to your dish. Also, I’m wholly devoted to the spicy, fresh ranchero sauce you’ll find on the chilaquiles (and on a few other dishes). I never understood the hype around chilaquiles until I tried them at Macareno, and now I’m obsessed. They’re crunchy, covered abundantly in the aforementioned heavenly ranchero sauce, and topped with fresh cucumbers, pickled red onions, queso fresco and sesame seeds. I swear no one paid me to wax so passionately rhapsodic over this restaurant; I just love it that much (which is saying something because I’m from Austin and have spent most of my life eating tacos).

This was the best breakfast in Puerto Vallarta for a group of people who have varying diets. Good gluten free, dairy free, vegan/vegetarian options. They also have "classic" breakfasts if you're missing home. They have good coffee as well, which I found hard to find in other places we tried. It's small and cute and service was great.

We came right before the pandemy to a taqueria in Puerto Vallarta at a street corner with chairs on the sidewalk, upon arrival again in 2023 we went almost desperate to eat again there, sadly it was nowhere to be found. Roaming the streets we found this location and food was amazing, we came back every evening for dinner and it was after the 6th day we talked to a nice lady,Tia Martha, in the kitchen and told us something surprising!!!! It turned out they were that taco stall in the corner, her sister "La Güera" (Blondie) bought the house they grew up as kids and upgrade the food street stall into this beautiful restaurant without compromising on the prices.
Food and drinks are delicious, staff ultra friendly and accommodating .
You can order anything, you won't regret it. Try a local specialty, huarache de nopal, taco filling on an edible cactus "leaf" (yeah, cactus don't have real leaves) really try it, is amazing. And you get also, complementary, a tray full of sliced radishes, cucumber and limes, a plate of fried and crunchy onion parts and 6 different delicious mildly hot salsas, you won't burn your tongue, 3 in different green tones with very specific flavors and 3 red ones, each one also better than the other.
I just found out they also serve brunch! Can wait to go on Tuesday, it's Sunday today, Monday is rest day for the hard working staff, they deserve it! ❤ I think they use the name for brunch "Macareno" and for dinner taqueria "Las Güeras".

The tripe chilaquiles & breakfast burrito were amazing! If you have any allergies, make sure to double clarify with them though when making your order 😅

Macareno is my favorite restaurant in PV, hands down. We discovered this gem on a food tour, and we fell in love. The food is incredibly tasty, the presentation is unmatched, the environment is full of gorgeous plants, and the prices are not much higher than street tacos. You can’t ask for much more!

Heads up: it closes at 3pm, so don’t plan on dinner here. Las Gueras is a related restaurant that you can go to for dinner.

Recommendations (what we got): “taquito de nada” with birria, tinga de pollo, and pastor, mimosas, “Macho Waffle,” and aqua fresca.

This is our favorite restaurant in PV. The food is excellent, cheap, and the atmosphere is incredible. Their smoothies and juices are way underrated - the chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, tamales are all amazing. We went here most days on our vacation. There is not a better breakfast spot in PV!

Excellent food. Huge portions at a great price. I'd definitely return to try the rest of the menu. Friendly service.

***This place is a Vallarta Treasure, you'll find small and cheap enough plates (at breakfast) so that you can order more than 1 for yourself while they will be big enough so that you're surprised with how much it comes for your price!

Breakfast fancy tacos, mexican chilaquiles or american sugary waffles... Their food quality is astonishing and for their price, "normal restaurants" would sell them at least twice it's price so this is truly a *MUST* Vallarta restaurant to visit people!

It's also a very charming family business type place so you are supporting the locals. Situated right in front of Qulture, the only ick is it's on a busy sometimes loud street from out the tunnel but it gives it easy access.
