Beautiful place, the star of all boat tours, usually the last top, cherry on the cake! Tranquil waters and very clear water, nice place to swim and enjoy nature! You can get actually in the canal, at least not summer of 2023, not sure if this can change in the future, also take into account that lagoon is closed on Wednesdays, so plan accordingly, safe travels!

Absolutely beautiful place to experience and visit in Bacalar! The history is just as fascinating as the incredible sea colors! And the water temp was perfect for chilling with a cerveza or two! Just wow! The best way to experience it is on a boat tour with a fun guide and great music!

Place is good to relax or swim. Avoid using sunscreen, make up and bug repellent.

One of the most ecologically conscious tours I’ve ever been on. The sights are unlike anything you’ll see anywhere else in the world, the tour guide was extremely safe/knowledgeable, and the experience was one I cannot wait to repeat.

I recently visited Canal de Pirates and was pleasantly surprised by how much fun I had. The shallow water made it the perfect spot to play beach volleyball and frisbee, and the sunset view was breathtaking. It's a great place to spend a summer afternoon with friends and family. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area

What an amazing beautiful place! It’s a must see when in Bacalar. The water is brightly beautiful blue that’s its hard to believe nature created it. The water is shallow and calm so everyone can enjoy even if you don’t know how to swim like me. The only way to access is by boat, kayak or swimming here. We were able to enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets here. This place along w Bacalar gas to be on your bucket list.

Canal de los piratas 🏴‍☠ is another beautiful spot along the Bacalar Lagoon!

In our last visit at the end of 2021 the guide told us that now is prohibited to use the sand to scrub your body, before it was allowed but some ignorant visitors were taking the sand as a souvenir wrongly!!! So the authorities decided to prohibit the use of the sand in this area. Well done!!!

I think the authorities need to protect more this beautiful lagoon to avoid the destruction of it!

Let’s do responsible tourism please!!! Let’s keep Bacalar beautiful!!!

This is one of those must do things. If you visit Tulum area or pass through Chetumal or area and miss this, you have missed an activity on the for sure list.

Bacalar is lovely and has the best habanero sauces, hotels, culture, pirate history and food.

There are a lot of great hotels in town and along the water. You can rent a boat for just your group for around 1500 to 2000 pesos.

The view is breathtaking. The color of the water is so beautiful and so clear you can see everything underneath the water. The deep was like 3 or 4 ft at the most so even if you don't know how to swim you will have a great time.

The area of the abandoned ship that symbolizes the pirates who used to come from the sea through the lake. Low water area and very mountainous. You can get there by boat, it is recommended to go there and swim in the pleasant and clean water.

Can only be accessed from the water but great trip!
Natural spa treatment: near the mangrove the mud is deep, almost up to your knees at some spots. Go as near as you can and cover your body, even your face with the mud (yes, it stinks). Let it dry and only then wash it off. The sulfur in the mud will make your skin like new again! :)
The water around is beautiful, amazing colours, great for both swimming or just playing in the shallow.

Beautiful landscape with amazing mud. The mud in this area is sulfurous and rich in minerals, it is excellent for cleansing the skin and protecting you from sunburns. We kayaked there on a hot sunny day and spent 2 hours there. The water was warm and clear, great experience overall.

It's an amazing place, the color of the water alone is hypnotizing. You can also rub mud that judging by the smell has sulfur in it among other minerals... I'm not a doctor, but I was told it was healthy for the skin. Anyway, there's also the ruins of a resteraunt that apperantly someone had built a few years back against the law, so now it's just nice for cool pictures.
