Nao Bacalar

Excellent place. The view is amazing. You have to try “bacalar” cocktail.

Ok so let me start off by saying I never thought I would come to bacalar and find some amazing sushi, but this place wow o wow was fantastic, service was great, views amazing (come while it's still daylight, but bring mosquito spray or wear repellent (you are sitting outside in the woods overlooking beautiful bacalar lagoon) we stayed here for three days and tried both breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast was on point, coffee & cappuccino was great while eating great breakfasts try the avocado toast with eggs (very very tasty) and the sushi for lunch and dinner was great. They also have Ramon and odon noodle soup. Literally tried all of them and each one super tasty and filling. I highly recommend this place for your meals in bacalar, but again don't forget the mosquito repellant, you'll thank me later.

Food, vibes, music and staff are amazing! We came during a full moon and had an amazing view out on the lagoon. The staff was very nice and attentive. The fish was very fresh - the salmon melted in my mouth. The cocktails are all mixed with Mezcal and are very creative. I had the Mangorita and loved the mix. I definitely recommend this Sushi restaurant!

Best sushi we’ve eaten in a very long time! The prices are a bit high compared to other eateries, but totally worth it. Staff is very friendly and the outside seating is beautiful with a view on the lake. They also serve very tasty mescal cocktails.

Slightly out of town this lovely quiet place has its own little stretch of lakeside garden.
After 3 weeks travelling we wanted a break from tacos and weren’t disappointed- good quality Japanese food in a cool setting and there’s enough veggie options to make a decent meal if you an earth friendly meal.
Don’t believe the cute house dog whose eyes will tell you he hasn’t been fed in weeks- he’s fibbing!

We loved this restaurant! The food was amazing and all of the seafood was very fresh. Make sure to order the pulpo sashimi and the seaweed salad! We loved doing the mezcal tastings — they have a great list to choose from. The service was also wonderful, especially our waiter Victor. We will definitely be back next time we’re in Bacalar!

Stunning views. Excellent service and food. There are rooms for rent and the one in the back, close to the lake, the upstairs room isn't exactly clean, bathroom the same and the tree where this house sits has a home to rather big ants that come in primarily to the upstairs room.

Nice location with pretty views of the laguna. Must visit if you are in Bacalar and craving some authentic and scrumptious Japanese food. Must try mezcal shots. Nice vegan options as well

I don't normally eat sushi but Nao was recommended. Was delicious. The fried avocado rolls were so good.

Great service, the mezcal is really good I remember they go to Oaxaca and other states to select the best mezcales for their restaurant. Also the music and the vibe will make you have a good experience in Bacalar. Highly recommend and please don’t drive there, take a secure cab, you could get drunk there lol. We had lobster rolls, house mezcal and agua de piedra.

What a spot! My mom and I did a mezcal tasting with Oscar and in the morning I got to do yoga with tracee! They are both incredibly warm, welcoming, and make you feel right at home. The views here are absolutely stunning and you won’t regret stopping by! Thank you Oscar and tracee for these wonderful experiences!

Amazing place! Freshly made and delicious sushi. My girlfriend and I got to talk with Jorge, he was a amazing and friendly host. Next time in Mexico we’ll definitely come back. Thank you very much for the hospitality.

I don’t think I need to say much… just look at the sushi… yummmm. Ok yes, the sushi was delicious and the Bacalar cocktails also good. On top of that, you have the lagoon right next to you to enjoy the view… or maybe swim? Lol. Recommend for sure.

Probably the best sushi I have tasted in general not just in mexico, taste 10/10. Presentation immaculate. Really affordable. Lovely scenes and view of the lake. Will come back.

Great place for a relaxing ambiance and super friendly service! The food was fresh and reasonably priced. The wait staff are very kind, accommodating, and genuinely care about your dining experience. The outdoor seating with a view of the lagoon in the back makes for a wonderful setting. Just bring bug spray and you’re all set!

My experience at Nao Bacalar was quite a mixed bag, with some dishes shining while others left something to be desired. I started my meal with the double salmon sushi roll, and I must say it was truly a highlight of the dining experience. The combination of flavors and textures in this roll was outstanding, and I particularly enjoyed it with the addition of avocado. The freshness of the salmon and the creaminess of the avocado created a delightful harmony in each bite. It's a dish I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Nao Bacalar.

Next, I tried the salmon sashimi, and I was equally impressed. The quality of the salmon was exceptional, and it practically melted in my mouth. The presentation was also noteworthy, with the sashimi slices beautifully arranged and served with care.

However, when it came to the tuna and octopus sashimi, I didn't find them as remarkable as the salmon. While they were certainly not bad, they didn't quite reach the same level of excellence. The flavors were decent, but they didn't leave a lasting impression. In a place like Nao Bacalar, where seafood is expected to shine, I had hoped for a more memorable experience with these particular sashimi options.

On the bright side, the service at Nao Bacalar was absolutely top-notch. The staff was not only attentive and efficient but also extremely friendly. Their warm and welcoming demeanor added a lot to the overall experience. The speed at which they attended to the guests' needs was impressive, and it made the dining experience even more enjoyable.

In conclusion, Nao Bacalar offers a mixed experience, with some dishes standing out as truly exceptional, while others fall a bit short of expectations. The double salmon sushi roll and salmon sashimi are clear winners and a testament to the quality of the seafood. The outstanding service provided by the friendly and efficient staff was a definite highlight of the visit. Overall, it's a restaurant with potential, and I would be open to trying more of their offerings in the future.

The atmosphere is amazing. Very cosy and quiet. Furthermore, the sushi was great and reasonably priced. Can recommend the tuna sashimi! Lastly, the staff were very nice and attentive. Overall, a great experience.

Found it by accident. Went in just to look at the menu. It looked pretty interesting. I ended up with a simple Gohan plate with avocado but it was delicious.

Very nice setting, lake view and jungly type. Live DJ on Saturdays per host after 8pm. Nice option to have if you are tired of eating corn for sure.
