The Yak Lake House

I'm so glad I stumbled across this place. Started with an art evening painting the most stunning view, went on the sunrise paddleboard tour which was incredible, highly recommend! About to do the catamaran. All excellent value with such friendly team teaching and supporting. And massive thanks to Raul, super helpful, amazing service, and super friendly! This place is a must. 5 stars!!

ABSOLUTELY THE FRIENDLIEST HOSTEL I HAVE STAYED IN MEXICO. It's a lively, young international staff (especially Raul, Lucio, Sandie, Stephan - wow! Super interesting people with fascinating life stories) and guests. Excellent restaurant and bar.
Lots of group activities on the water and parties every night. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The vibe of the place is really great. You just want to chill there and relax with an awesome view on the lake. you can use all facilities and there is no separation between bar/restaurant guests and hostel guests. Hostel is also having each day some activities/discounts and they are pretty cool, such as painting with aperol on the deck :P You can also go swimming from there (in the middle of the pond are small stairs to water) just the bottom is a little muddy but it is still great. You can directly book tours in reception as the place is also a tour organizer. The guys on the reception would help you get around and advice you on how to spend time in bacalar. I was surprised how cool this place was and I can truly recommend it for the vibe.

The Yak is the perfect hostel.
Right in front of the Lagoon, good view and good vibes. The food and welcome drinks are really nice and I love that everyday there’s an activity to do and to meet people around.
Don’t miss the Wednesday party cuz is the best in Bacalar.😎

Absolutely brilliant Hostel with the friendliest Staff, in particular Ruso, Julieta and Raul made my stay so much more enjoyable.

Amazing location right on the lagoon, cool vibe with music and lots of activities to get involved in. The staff are great, especially Raul! He was very helpful with recommendations for my first time in Bacalar! Would recommend this hostel to everyone!

Lagoon view with a nice deck. In the heart of Bacalar. Everyone with the disposition to help and guide, specially Santiago. Rooms are clean and comfy and they have lot of daily activities to make your stay even better!

Very cool hostel! Especially the ambiance was awesome! The hostel is directly located at the lagoon, what do you want more? The staff was super helpful. A big thanks to Santi, Raúl and Luciano. The only downside: The bed in the dorm was not very comfortable...

Love this place!
We are backpacking in Mexico and this place made us feel like home, not only because of the magical location right on the lake, but because of the amazing people working there, that felt like a big family! Everyone was so friendly and did everything to help us out, whenever anything was needed (extra blankets, change the AC settings, locker problems, etc. ). Humberto (working front desk in the afternoons) didn’t just help us through our chaotic check in (we couldn’t find anything in our backpacks 😅), but was able to organise a trip to the jungle for us, that otherwise would not have been possible. He is also fluent in English and helps whenever a translation is needed. Definitely one of the most caring and friendliest people I have ever met, making our stay at yak lake house just perfect! 🥰🥰

Probably the best hostel I've ever been to and I've been to many places.

Lake front location is unbeatable, can't go wrong with that so I came there for a few days. I ended up staying a few weeks. Why? Wonderful people, great vibe and energy make this place magic. In particular Humberto, Santiago and Fabi - the marvelous trio. This excellent and super professional team looks after you and make you feel like home from the get-go. No matter who you are, where you come from and how much you have in your pocket they will treat you the best way.

I left a few hours ago and miss it already. I will be back for sure.

Great hostel! I highly recommend it! Great location, close to the center, with a very nice terrace on the lagun. The shared-room was clean, very convenient. This place is very well decorated, it has it own charm. Free coffee in the morning. The activities offered by the hostels were really nice. The staff was lovely. I would come back!

Love this hostel, great location & great staff - Raul was very helpful and lovely! Out of the 3 hostels I stayed in Bacalar this was my favourite.

Amazing hostel, best location! The staff was incredibly warm and made me feel like part of their big, happy family! The room was cozy and comfy.
But the real fun began with the activities! I tried kayaking and paddle board sunrise tour, wow swimming on those calm waters was the ultimate bliss! On Wednesday they have party it was so much fun, made so many new friends!
It’s a paradise! Than you so much!

My brother and I just stayed 5 days in this great place! Amazing staff, especially Humberto and Santiago, thank you guys for the great experience, will definitely come again!

I was not a guest of the hostel, but hanged there for a couple hours before my boat tour of the lagoon.
The receptionist was the first person I met in Bacalar who spoke good English and actually had a problem-solving, helpful attitude.
Phone was dying and he managed to provide a charger and let me charge it before the tour.
Epi pen needed refrigerating and he saw to that too.
Wish I’d chosen it as my accommodation! Ambiance seemed cool and relaxed.
