This theme park spreads across 80+ hectares of Mongolia grassland to provide the real-life experiences of stepping into Genghis Khan's Mongol Empire and hence the name 13th Century Complex.

The moment we neared the entrance, the messenger signaled our arrival and 2 horsemen dressed like ancient Mongol warrior came to take us into the park in an orderly guided manner.

The compound is divided into king's palace, museum, shaman tribes' hills and the restaurant compound. We could experience a grand dinning with folk song singers and then taking turns in taking photos on the throne.

I felt like a Mongol warrior while dinning the restaurant among people. I could learn many things about Mongol empire, Genghis Khan, shamanism, and various shamanistic tribes of Mongolia exploring this park.

The overall experience was memorable except for the rest room. It too seems from 13th century and the moments of using restroom are also memorable ones, but not in a good sense.

Visited in late April 2019 while they were sort of closed... they seem to really open around May 2019, but still got to see the exterior. THIS PLACE REQUIRES SOME OFF-ROADING WHICH IS VERY DOABLE WITH A NORMAL CAR, though highly not recommended if it rained or snowed the day prior. Probably took 45-60 minutes of off-roading at 10-30mph to get here... very little signs indicating the direction. TIP: FOLLOW THE PATH MOST WORN (ALMOST ALL OF THEM END UP HERE ANYWAY) AND LOAD GOOGLE MAPS (works with this marker). Google Maps will show you that you are on a (dirt) road so just kind of follow the map. There are 3-4 main complexes, all somewhat close to each other (1st complex after the main "gate" is on the left, the other complexes you have to keep driving another 2-4 miles on the path that goes "left" and up and down some hills... yeah it will feel like you are lost due to the lack of signs, but just keep driving towards the left hill!). Free parking....

Very nice complex consists of 7 construction sites stylised under the buildings and construction of 13th century of Mongolia. Nice panorama views and very quiet.

Also visited a 13th century museum which showed the lifestyle of the Mongolian people in the 13th century
Another major attraction here was the Shamanist Temples. Visited some of them and interacted and got to know more about this idea of ‘Shamanism”. It is an old practice in Mongol land which involves a practitioner reaching different different states of consciousness in order to perceive and interact with a spirit world. A ‘Shaman’ who practices this gets access to world of spirits and with this he does healing and divination. Genghis Khan before every war used to visit these temples and interact with these spirits

We went there in early July, got there early and it was a bit cloudy. The entry and horsemen greeting were great. Locals are attending to the place and its great. But you may need translator or driver to accompany you.
Be sure to ask which way to go from the guides as the location is spread throughout the park and it could be tricky if you just drive off.

Do pack a lunch or snack in case. There is a restaurant there but was closed for large group visit. Luckily we had some sandwiches packed so that was our only meal . Also do pack all weather clothes when you are in Mongolia.

Also note, Mongolian milk products offered held our stomach well. thankfully.

Do ask or try the Horse, Camel rides that's included in the entree fee.

Spent 2 weeks in Mongolia visiting the sites and this by far was the most informative. As a history buff I found the various hurtS each focusing on a theme like, military history, library and language, horse back riding, and civilian life in the 13th century. Staff was cordial and professional.

The camp itself represents a lifestyle of Mongolians in 13th century. They serve Mongolian meals only.

Best way to approach the 13th century for real. Nicely prepared, well explained and excellent food onthe wide open campus.
