Rohana Estate Lodging and Camping

Rohana's place is a perfect choice for nature lovers. During my trip in Sri Lanka I visited 11 different accommodations and I can sincerely say that Rohana Estate Lodging was the best of all of them. Meals prepared onsite were delicious, tailored to our needs. Rohana was very hospitable and always keen to give some interesting facts about the surrounding area, provided tips and recommendations.
The view from our room was breathtaking. During nights we could listen the sounds of the jungle around, marvelous music.

Rohana is a great guy, and a youthful adventurous spirit—he will have great recommendations to explore the beautiful area and send you on some wild adventures. The property itself is beautiful as well, with its own view point.

A few things to note to set expectations; internet is a separate charge from the room, hot water needs to be boiled (but he’s happy to do it) and the roads in the area are pretty rough, so if you’re not comfortable driving in the mountains with potholes or a manual transmission, just get a ride there, and pay a guide or a driver (it’ll be cheaper anyway). Lastly, you can use the kitchen to prepare your own food, or pay a fee for prepared meals.

It is highly recommended to visit this place located in a beautiful landscape. On the way you can visit the Knuckles mountain range and several waterfalls. This place is a place where you can enjoy nature freely. You can also see beautiful tea plantations. Mr. Rohan, the owner of this estate, will gladly share his hospitality and knowledge of the area with you. Indeed, this knowledge is a very valuable gift from him. Even though the fort is surrounded by rocks on the top of the hill like his shelter, the fort will captivate your heart when you walk there. Pitching a tent and spending a night at that place is an inspiration in itself. I feel that it is very appropriate for all of you who are thinking of going to Nuwara Eliya to visit Gomera next time.

Rohana's place is special, it is super remote and the landscape is beautiful! Rohana was also extremely helpful and the food prepared for us was plenty and delicious :)

While searching for accommodation on my ride to explore knuckles,I stumbled upon Rohanas Estate lodging which offered a very reasonable rate compared to the limted options available around the area. Though the Google maps directed me on an offroad path the location is easy accessible with a well paved road until its entrance. So calling roahana and asking for the directions is a must.
The location has the best views and if you want to spend a night camping under the stars on top of the estate rohana is well equipped to arrange everything .My best memory of the stay remains with the organic home grown coffee that rohana offered and trying out jambola straight pluck from the tree itself.
Since the location is a prime spot nearby to the starting point of the popular knuckles five peak trail I extended my initial stay for an additional day. Needless to say that Rohana himself being an explorer and adventurer has wealth of stories and experience to share and you can know all about plantation from him. His hospitality is at the best and I sure will be back to explore more soon with family and friends

We enjoyed such a peaceful stay at Rohana’s.

He is super accommodating and has a wealth of knowledge about the surround area - especially about trails and other natural places of interest.

Our room was incredibly comfortable. We woke up each morning to the sound of birds and a gorgeous view of the mountain range.

The food was delicious and Rohana kept us well fed throughout our stay, catering for all of our dietary needs.

Lovely little lodge with panoramic views. The garden is full of tropical secrets. Easy access to all the main attractions.

We were invited by Rohana to visit his estate last weekend. He is very helpful and clearly understands the passion of a traveler so we were able to cover everything we planned for the day on a happy note. The 360 view on top of his estate is one of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen! Highly recommended for camping and watching sunrise/sunset.
P.S. - He is a great photographer so you can guarantee that your memories will be absolutely beautiful on the digital screen.

Since I wanted to go somewhere in this long weekend, selected this place on the recommendation of one of my travel friends. Only two girls were there for the trip and we reached by bike. The owner was so kind and helpful. He called several times on our way to know where we are. Then he wait for us in Theldeniya town and guided us to his location. The location is very easy to access. From Kandy, you have to use Mahiyanganaya road and once you passed Theldeniya town 6 - 8 km turn to Rangala Road. From there to the lodge it has around 15km.

We reached after 6 hours of bike ride and Mr.Rohana helped us to be relaxed by giving a coffee. It gave us energy. Then he explained his adventures & journey around the world and showed pictures. In the next day morning he himself brought us breakfast where we did camping.

The owner (Mr.Rohana) offered all the equipment which needs for camping. We had open camping in his tea estate. There is a fortress top of the estate wich has a 360° view. You can see Hunnasgiriya, Bathalegala, Gombaniya, Knuckles Kirigalpotta, besides Kandasamigala, Knuckle Five Peaks, Piduruthalagala Mountain range too.

You can see the sunrise there and I'm sure that experience never can be forgettable.

Highly recommend this place and I assure you can collect good memories to your travel life. Appreciate the great hospitality given by the owner Mr.Rohana. I'm expecting to visit again with few other friends too.

Delicious tea and breathtaking views! You can see the tea estate from big beautiful windows in the house, or hike up the mountain for an incredibly stunning 360 view of the Sri Lankan mountains.

Visited there with my family on a sunny day and the weather was mild and pleasant, the ideal weather conditional for hill climbing and understood that is the usual climatic condition prevailing in the area.
When we reached the summit of this property we felt the heaven was one step above. The sceinic beauty is so powerful and attractive with a stunning 360 degrees view of all the mountain ranges in central province, namely mount Hunasgiriya and Knuckles at a arm stretch and clear view of Hanthana, Alagalla, Bathalegala, Sripada and Piduruthalagala at a distant. To add more beauty to the environment all green back ground with nicely planned tea estates, forestry and many waterfalls from seen there as well as on the way. Wishing to visit there few more times to explore more on natures valuable gifts wishing the management of this property good luck.
