Monsoon Eco-Resort

Our stay at Monsoon was incredible. I can only say that if you are ever coming to the Arugam Bay area, you have to stay here. We've stayed in homestays/hostels/eco-lodges around the world, and this is one of the most special we've seen.

The space Vishy and Seneth have created is serene and beautiful, and you can feel the love that has gone into every little detail. The front garden area is lush with all sorts of trees and flowers, and you can spend whole afternoons sitting in the little cafe area. The rooms are super comfortable, clean, and spacious. We had an outdoor shower and bathroom, and we could see the stars from our showers at night. They have hand-made most of the furniture on the property and within the rooms, and you can really see the appreciation for detail and craftsmanship that has gone into each piece. The property is just a few minutes' walk from Whiskey Point and Pottuvil Point, and you can watch the sunrise from both.

We took our morning coffees and dinners in the restaurant overlooking the rice paddy, and you can hear the birds and even elephants at times. The food is some of the best we've ever had - not just in Sri Lanka but in general. Vishy prepares incredible fusion dishes based on Sri Lankan traditional cooking, and all of the ingredients are fresh, and each dish is delicious in its own way.

Vishy and Seneth are lovely human beings who we now consider lifelong friends. From the moment they greeted us, they were kind and helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our time at Monsoon and in the Arugam Bay area. They helped us organize a motorbike, introduced us to their friends in the area, and gave us wonderful recommendations for our time there.

We stayed nearby for 3 weeks and were at Monsoon for dinner pretty much every night. The food was amazing, no set menu they just cooked what they had and took requests if you told them in advance. We have 2 small children who don’t like spicy food which my husband and I love so Vishy made them a special non spicy meal which they loved. Vishy and her staff were amazing, so friendly and welcoming and made us feel at home. I honestly cant say enough nice things about this place.

We really enjoyed our stay at Monsoon Eco Resort. Vishy and her husband immediately took us into their hearts and the great property made us feel like home. Breakfast and dinner were prepared with love and the food was so delicious. We would definitely go there again!

This is one of our favorite places in Sri Lanka. The owner are incredibly friendly and absolutely fabulous!

One word to describe Monsoon eco resort is "extraordinary". Me and my boyfriend initially planned on staying for about a week but on day three we already extended our stay for a total of 3 1/2 weeks and it was the best decision ever. The owners Vishy and Seneth (and the whole crew) made us feel so at home and welcome and would help us with whatever we needed! The whole place is sooooo lovely and the housing is amazing as well - you can tell how much love and time has been put into the decorations and the whole accommodation. Another thing: the food. Wow - Vishy herself cooks and she is the absolute best. We had a lot of meals and every time we thought it couldn't get any better. Also the breakfast was incredible Sri Lankan food (if wanted it could be changed to European food) and the coffee made by the wonderful Savi was a highlight every morning. So thank you monsoon Family for being the best people ever - we loved staying with you and can't wait to come back! 100000/ 10 would recommend! Much love from Austria

When we booked our stay at Eco Monsoon Resort, we did not expect to find such a gem! The hosts are amazing and made us feel at home the moment we stepped in. These are real people, offering their home, time and local knowledge to make your stay as good as it gets.

All the food is prepared by the hosts - definitely real Sri Lankan cuisine at its finest here. The meals are wholesome, cooked with a lot of heart and soul; a mix of dhal, rice dishes, different roti, potato, veggies, fish, chicken and seafood, paired with fresh juices, proper coffee and/or chai kept us craving for more every day. Also, they are great at managing the spiciness levels and if you want to go all the way, you can.

The resort itself is a very unique, beautiful refuge. It is authentic, charming & peaceful and provided a quiet and lush oasis. It is a place to enjoy, have great talks and get a good rest after a day of surfing or exploring the coastline. Yes, the surfing hub of Arugam Bay is a bit of a ride away, but that is part of what makes the place: Less crowds, more authenticity. Within a short distance from Eco Monsoon, there are two lesser-known point breaks that kept us entertained and let us enjoy some uncrowded sessions.

So, if you're up for an authentic experience away from all the crowds, give this place a go. We enjoyed it - the beautiful accommodation, the homely food, the heartfelt hospitality, and the early morning surfs. We'll be back. Thank you and see you soon.

We had the pleasure of staying in Vishy and Senneth’s paradise for a month. The cabana’s are gorgeous, unique and immersed in nature while still providing all the modern amenities and luxury touches. Having an outdoor bathroom was a great experience (as someone who lives in cold climates it was a first for me)
The team were attentive and so helpful for anything you needed, I will miss my morning lattes swinging in the hammock.
A huge plus, the FOOD!! So healthy and flavourful, I felt so well nourished by the end of our stay.
The area is slowly starting to wake up for the season, there’s a handful of other spaces around to explore and the beach is absolutely massive so you always have privacy and can relax. 20 minute scooter ride away and you’re in the bustle hub of Arugam Bay. They have all the best tips on where to eat!

Really cool place, really lovely people! I slept in a super cute cabana with a wonderful comfy bed and awesome bathroom. Vishy, the owner looked after me when I was sick and cooked me some tasty food. Overall, beauitful quiet place to read, relax in the hammock, and enjoy some time for yourself.

My favorite place in Sri Lanka! Vishy & Senet are two sweethearts. They own and run the place and make every guest feel as part of the Monsoon family.
Vishy’s cooking is the best I’ve had in Sri Lanka, it’s a must.
The place is stunningly beautiful, all the architecture done by Senet and interior decor by Vishy.

We were „only“ at the restaurant BUT it was so awesome! Everyone was so friendly and the stuff told us exactly what kind of curry was in the food and were really lovely. The owner and his lovely wife were also such nice persons! The place was so beautiful. We went there again to breakfast and it was also very delicious. Unfortunately we miss the other food bc of bus changes. :( we will definitely come back!

Celebrated my mom's birthday in this magical place!!! Words can't describe how beautiful it is here! The food is very tasty and there is a variety of cuisines! The best place in Arugambay for anyone to experience hospitality Srilanka is famous for. The owners are so warm and the place is serene.

This is a gem in whiskey point and echo friendly. The property is filled with trees making it so relaxing and calm but their food makes it heavenly will definitely come back
