Daisei Kiln

I am a new fan and super supporter of this family run pottery store and studio! The family has welcomed me twice with different visitors that I was showing around the area. I can’t wait to come back again and buy more pieces for my home!

Daisei Gama is a very beautiful pottary studio and shop. Must visit if you go to Mashiko.

My husband and I first visited the Daisei Gama store during the fall pottery festival in 2016 and fell in love with the store's pottery. We purchased a number of items and returned in the spring to purchase more before we moved from Japan. The owners are very welcoming and their son speaks excellent English and gave us a mini tour of the kiln and explained how the designs are made. I am delinquent in writing this review, but we have been very happy with our dishes and I look forward to buying more on my next visit.

You can understand so much more about Mashiko pottery by exploring the kilns and the workshop areas behind the gallery here. Be sure to go upstairs in the gallery. You have to take off your shoes and wear the provided slippers, but you get a great view of the building from the upstairs balcony. I love the huge old beams and rafters.

Such an amazing place and such beautiful pottery. Very friendly talk with the artists. We highly recommend this place.

Must-see when in Jonaizaka. 150+ years of tradition, superior craftsmanship, and super friendly. As an added bonus, all pottery thrown and fired on-site, with a beautiful traditional house as a showroom. Super!

Kind staff, photos not allowed inside. Fun to look inside the store. Quite expensive compared to other stores around Mashiko.

先週行きました☺外にはかわいい小ヤギ、アヒルちゃんもいてとても楽しかったです！窯も見せてくれてお店の人は親切。お皿を3枚買いました。店内も素敵ですので是非覗いてみて下さい〜

いろいろお店を回って帰る間際にたどり着いたのですが、素人目にも商品の質が他とは違うと感じて、長居してしまいました。素敵なお皿に出会えました。伝統的だけど古さは感じないデザインだし、食洗機もオーブンも使えるそうなので、長く使っていきたいです。

益子陶器市で来訪しました。
ここは、登り窯が見られてそれだけでも楽しいですがヤギもいて驚きました。
店内も素敵な空間で素敵な益子焼がたくさんあって。子供も大人も楽しめる場所でした。

ヤギさんが出迎えてくれる益子焼「大誠窯」は、創業から200年も経つ歴史がある益子焼の代表的な存在。
益子の中でも1番大きな登り窯を所有し、そこから芸術品が生まれてきている…とのことです。
登り窯を間近で眺めましたが、大きさも驚きましたが、その空間に特別な空気が流れているのに感動しました。おごそかというか、神聖というか、なんとも言い難い空気感です。
店舗には高級な陶器が販売されています。目の保養にも立ち寄ってみてはいかがでしょう。

購入した飯碗が大変気に入っている。

益子共販窯元センターの近くにあります。

当たり前ですが…、唯一無二ならココで購入すればと思います。ココの彩色が好みなら…？の話しです。

素晴らしいできばえの数々です。益子に行くとこのここでしか買い物をしません。
