Ryuzu no Chaya

Opening times are up to date. Ideal spot at the start (or the end) of Senjogahara walk. There is a viewing platform of the Ryuzu fall, where you can have a drink or just admire the view (you don’t need to purchase anything). They serve warm meals (mostly noodles), coffee and other drinks. Also the local specialty yuba. There is also a cute souvenir shop with local snacks and an ice cream shop. Restrooms are located not inside, but on the parking lot above the tea house (just walk a bit up and you’ll see it). Pet-friendly.

Just an ideal spot for this tea house with gift shop overlooking Ryuzu falls! You can order food and drinks at reasonable prices, sit facing the falls and enjoy the view!

A beautiful scenery esp while eating and drinking. A good place to relax and see beauty of nature.
The food was tasty and nicely done. Pretty local and they serve the food in local dishes.
They also offer a wide variety of drinks like coffee, tea, sweet stuff and there is a shop to buy souvenir.

Fantastic small cafe with view on the falls - not overpriced which is surprising. The pork don is super tasty and pork is sourced locally. The “ozouni” in soup is also excellent.

We came across Ryuzu no Chaya after our 11 km hike from Lake Yunoko. This place offered great wi-fi, which we used to access our Klook app (needed to take the bus back down to the Lake Chuzenji area). Our pocket wi-fi was very spotty in this area, so if you need to access to the internet, make sure to stop here. We were trying to get back down to board the cruise at Lake Chuzenji, and didn't get the chance to eat here, which we regret. We would recommend eating here if it is open as there were no open dining options closer to Lake Chuzenji, perhaps due to the time of year (a Wednesday afternoon in November), or the time of day (mid-afternoon).

It is a nice restaurant with Ryuzu falls. You can enjoy the meal while watching the Ryuzu falls.

The butadon was amazing. In addition, you're enjoying your dinner with an amazing view of the waterfall.

It was a beautiful stopover place between 湯ノ湖 and 中禅寺湖 with excellent view of 龍頭滝, decent spicy ramen, friendly and hospital personnel. Enjoyed calm and relaxing lunch in peaceful atmosphere there, but imagine spots with waterfall view might not be always available, especially in busy days or seasons.

One of the best meals I had travelling 2 weeks in Japan. The signature fried tofu skin was to die for and the view overlooking Ryuzu Falls left me speechless. Absolute 10/10 experience.

Serene place with traditional Japanese foods. Odanggo is very delicious. Only set back is it gets too crowded easily.
