The Takayama Green Hotel was amazing. The staff were all very welcoming and eager to help. The hotel is very spacious and beautiful. We stayed in the newest wing of the hotel. The rooms were huge with plenty of furnishings. The bathroom and washroom were super clean with amazing water pressure. The hotel was very quiet and peaceful. The gift shop was massive with so many wonderful and handcrafted items to buy and see. There are easily 4 or 5 different resturants in the hotel, all of which smelled fantastic. This hotel has a great hot springs inside, but unfortunately if you had tattoos you are not allowed in, so I was unable to experience that part of the hotel.

Three North American tourists enjoying a series of onsen-oriented hotels on our way to Nagoya, Takayama Green Hotel was a very nice mix of traditional and technological. This hotel is closely located to the JR station, perhaps at most a 10 minute walk if you are smothered in luggage, and the bus station located nearby gives you an excellent coverage of the city as well. After days of babysitting by tour guides, this was a hotel and city we were able to enjoy on our own - and if anything, we enjoyed the hotel so much it was probably unfair to the city. Nonetheless, the hotel's closeness to the bus station made touring the city easy and enjoyable, despite the grueling summer heat.
A huge attraction in the hotel itself is the souvenir shop. This store is open for most of the day, is very large and well-designed, and is stacked with all sorts of gifts, though mostly edible gifts, with competitive prices. And since I started the review talking about the onsen-orientation of our trip, the onsens here are also exquisite. There is a large open-to-the-public onsen on the ground floor and a smaller, very fashionable and relaxing onsen located for hotel guests. Both onsens were very good and recommendable, though I personally had a preference for the hotel-specific onsen. All areas have excellent bathing areas and due to our frequent visits we didn't even use the bathing options present in our hotel room.
Food options available are excellent. You can get some special meats at dinner if you have the card for that meat. With or without those special offers, the food is mostly buffet style and the sheer choice and quality are both tremendously good. It was also the first time that we were able to try Natto, fermented soy beans that you mix (very thoroughly) into rice. Between the three of us North Americans, overall impression was poor to middling, but it definitely was an experience that we won't forget! A nice quirk of the hotel is its signage - there are small machines that project the signs via light onto the floor in multiple languages. This could be an issue if you're in a hurry, but why would somebody checked into this onsen-providing hotel be in a hurry?

Wonderful experience on this hotel! I only gave it 5 stars because there isn't the option to give 6 stars. The breakfast is explendid, lots of breakfast variety. The staff are really funny and friendly. The rooms are really spacious and the hotel itself is really pretty

Views from this hotel of mountains are beautiful. If you need cash in Japan, you must got to the post office. Be ready to walk. Dinner buffet is very good. Service was great. Stayed in Japanese style room, would recommend the experience. They do have Western style rooms.

It is a good hotel, large with hundreds room to serve so it a bit too commercial with lots of tour group.
Very good warm welcome Japanese service style which quite impressed.

Nice hotel, good price. My wife and I enjoyed the private baths as well. The various gift shop type stalls are nice too (got some good gifts here, including a sarubobo for my son), and the izakaya restaurant there is also had great food.

It is kind of surreal and funny, when you first enter, to see all the native tourists walking around in the hotel-branded bath robes, but then you end up doing the same thing yourself, feeling blissed out after the bath.

I also really liked the book of Buddhist texts left in the hotel room (kinda like Gideons' Bible). Still have it.

Beautifully decorated & it's a fairly large complex with multiple restaurants & a gift shop. This hotel has a public bath (onsen) which I hear is excellent. There's also a garden in the center of the complex which can be viewed from inside the upscale coffee shop area or you can stroll outside.

Location was great, hotel was very roomy even for 4 people, we had 2 x double sized bed + 2 futons. The meal.package, especially the traditional Japanese Hida Beef course was amazing, the Japanese breakfast was just as amazing. What's even more amazing was the onsen, again very spacious even when busy, the outdoor pool was nice and hot, and its open sky so you can enjoy the falling snow while soaking, very heavenly. Close enough to walk to station (10mins, longer if you're dragging suitcase), or they have free shuttle bus to & from the station.

Found the hotel to be excellent. Staff were very friendly and the meals were good quality. Buffet breakfasts and dinners had lot's of options. Room size was good but we paid a bit more for bigger room than it looks like the bus tour guests get based on the comments I have read.

One of the best hotels I stayed in Japan. The service is great and the staff is really dedicated to make you feel most welcome. I got the humble room and it was great. And you can stay there to visit Magome, Tsunago and Shirakawago. Great historical places to visit.
