Came 45min before they closed and it was quiet, but still plenty of time to see this small park, only ¥500 entry cost.
You can get a small feed bag to feed the squirrels for ¥100 it is worth it, (tip: if you rustle the bag of food near one of the more energetic squirrels you can coax them onto your shoulder or chest.
Otherwise it is kinda fun watching all the squirrels skitter around.
Most the animals here seem really well cared for, however the turle's tank was kind of dirty when I came but I'm not sure what kind of environment that kind of turtle prefers.

Went an hour before closing time and it was perfect. It wasn't crowded and the staff is very nice and helpful. Squirrels aren't shy at all and its very fun to watch them run and climb everywhere. Be careful to wear thick clothes because squirrels can scratch your skin when climbing on you.

The park is located far away from Machida station, you have to catch a bus.
The entry fee is 400yen and the park is not so huge, but that will do.
The squirrels viewing area is very spacious and you can try feeding the squirrels by buying gloves and squirrel food.
Apart from that the park has Guinea pig, reptiles and birds etc.
A shop is available inside especially for buying squirrel and various other animal toys, so thats it if you like this review please give like.

Very cute little garden with loads of squirrels! Nothing fancy, just lots of cute little squirrels running and jumping around. You can buy food and feed it to them. It’s a little complicated to get there - I went to Machida station and took a bus. There’s a nice little park not too far away, too, so when you’re done with the squirrel garden you can walk there and take a stroll.

I recommend visitors should go! It is a small park and the entrance fee for adults is 400 yen. You can buy small bowls of carrots and lettuce to feed guinea pigs, rabbits. And best of all, you can buy seed and feed squirrels! Squirrels are not afraid of you. There is another area in the park where u can see a neighborhood of squirrels! There are small wooden houses painted by school children.

An extremely fun and interesting place to visit! The squirrels are so cute and active (though the day I went was really hot, so a lot were also just resting in the shade). I also happened to see a really cool lizard that wandered in by chance as well. The tortoise was massive!! All the kids visiting looked like they were having so much fun. I’m not a child anymore, but it was still such a great experience.

Also love that Machida Squirrel Garden supports & encourages meaningful and continued employment of disabled and neuro-divergent adults who often face barriers and discrimination in the Japanese workforce.

Purchased a few items from the gift shop as well; everything was just so adorable!

It was amazing, absolutely loved it! There are so many squirrels that you can feed and let them climb into your gloves! There is also other animals like a giant tortoise, rabbits, guinne pigs etc.

I would recommend wearing full length trousers just incase you get scraped by accident but not essential.

No need to book ahead.

I don't know why this place isn't 100 times busier!

Nice place to visit with your family and kids. Best experience is to give foods to squirrel and their way of eating it.

These little guys are so cute
There are rabies and guinea pigs and a snake... But the real attraction is the squirrels. You buy seeds for 100 yen and they come right up to you. So cool.

A very precious experience for city people. The squirrels are just too cute to watch, feed, touch and interact. We had stayed for 90mins and did not want to leave at all. They gave us scratches and mud in return LOL. Do bring some disinfectant gel with you as a safety measure. Enjoy!

Very nice and fun little squirrels, rabbits and Guinea pigs.
The squirrels will jump on you, don’t wear your nicest clothes, but they have some jackets to borrow.
Well worth a visit for an hour to an hour and a half.
Extra plus for employing people with disabilities, very friendly atmosphere here.

Great place to go if you love squirrels, and its very affordable too! Just be careful, some of the squirrels like to bite a little

Somewhat dirty but deserves 5 stars. They employ special needs persons and are great with kids. Was winter so the squirrels were more focused on sleeping then grabbing the seeds but kids loved all the hamsters and guinea pigs aswell. Bring about 1000-2,000¥ per kid for seeds and snacks took my 3 yo about 2 hours to have enough and we left. Gift store is nice but it's a gift store, expect 800-1,000¥ per kid to get them a small plush toy

Cute!! Pay to get in (400 yen adults and 200 for children). You'll see guinea pigs, rabbits, turtles and various other animals. Then go into the squirrel Park area. Buy the squirrel food 100 yen per bag, the squirrels will climb all over you and let you pet them. It's a small area, but well worth the money. Parking is on the street adjacent to the park.

Excellent experience. Buy the snacks for the squirrels. They will jump on you and eat right out of your hands.
There are also guinea pigs and various other small animals to see in the front of the main squirrel area.

So cute! Such a great place and such nice volunteers. We had initially planned to visit the Fox Village but after realising how much of a hassle getting there was we decided to visit Machida instead - and I would highly suggest doing the same since it's much easier to get to and seems to be much more interactive as well as cheaper. Like the others have said, the squirrels are definitely not shy and if they see you with a bag of seeds they'll definitely jump on you. Make sure you wear long sleeves and pants as the squirrels can sometimes climb up/down all over you and their nails are very small and sharp. Kids would love this place but so would any other animal lovers. We had a great time and even made a little squirrel friend that seemed to enjoy riding around on my arm. So much better than an animal café and no time limits.

Best Risu Park in the world! (please add a café)

This is a really nice place to take the family. You can even build a squirrel house (event is held once every other month). Come on Saturday morning to maximize attention from the squirrels. Coming on Sunday (when they have been plenty already on Saturday) may result in a bit of a disappointment.
