Hotel Okura Niigata

We really enjoyed this hotel. Very friendly staff and despite the hotel being a little old, it was very clean. The room was a nice size and was very clean. It’s located right next to the iconic Bandai Bridge and is very central to many restaurants all within walking distance. There is a convenience store 1 minute away. There is free ice on each floor and a nice restaurant on the main floor. The price was very reasonable, too. Will definitely return.

Despite the hotel being a bit dated, for the price it's probably one of the most pleasurable experience I've had in a Japanese hotel. Wide comfortable rooms, nice view, nice staff, free parking.

They don't have USB ports so you should bring your adapter but it's not that big of a deal.

They have a smoking area on the 4th floor and many shops across the first few floors.

Location is quite good as you can walk pretty much anywhere in the central area within 20min.

My only gripe was that there was not much space to place your toiletries for a party of 2, the room was very well maintained and spacious.
Breakfast starts from 6.30am so try to be slightly earlier or on time if you are trying to catch the 1st ship to Sado Island at 7.40am.
Breakfast options were wonderful, particularly the eggy french toast, croissants, rice and milk.
There's a walkway outside the hotel lined up with tulips if you are looking to take some pretty photos while you're there!

Ok, this is an older hotel but location in Niigata was perfect for me to walk and see most f what I wanted to. Now service was unexpected. Mrs Matsumura-san was so delightful and assisted me in getting my room and to it. She gave me extra points of interest in the city. I was amazed she was a trainee. Wow such great service and she did well speaking English with me. No the room was excellent. I paid a little more for a corner room overlooking the river, so beautiful. I left my curtains open the entire time. City lights on the river were amazing to see each night. Great bar, nice and quiet and good selection of whiskeys. Yes, they had Yamazaki 18 one of my favorites so my night cap each evening was perfect. They have a great sushi bar, poor master was so busy trying to make everything by himself and guide the two young lady servers with guest. Good sushi and sashimi!!. Handicap accessible. Plenty of parking here too. They are great at getting cab if one isn't already there waiting..Please come stay here and get the river view.

From the moment I arrived (by bicycle) it was obvious that service here is taken very seriously. Two of the staff grabbed my panniers, showed me the best place to stow my bike, and ecorted me t the check- in. You would think from the warm wlecome I received that I had rolled up in the latest Bentley! The room was very large and well- appointed. Breakfast was excellent. A great stay, I'm returning here the next time I visit Niigata.

A lovely hotel situated beside the iconic Bandai Bridge. The staff are amazingly attentive and the service is wonderful, something you come to expect in Japan. The rooms are larger than most that you find in Japanese hotels and the bathrooms are nicely appointed. There are several restaurants in the hotel with a range of styles and price points. The lobby restaurant provides a lovely buffet breakfast with a mixture of japanese and western offerings. For families, they have connecting rooms, which is very convenient.

Had a relaxing tea and coffee time with a fabulous view of the longest river in Japan!

It's good hotel. It's easily to find the some local food around the hotel.
Also, we can cross the brige to find more intersting shop where close to train station.

Room was a bit small but well equipped. Location was good and within walking distance to shopping area.

Good Hotel in the calm district if Niigata. Breakfast with view to the river.
