Uwajima Unyu Ferries

We took this ferry with a rental car and thoroughly enjoyed the 3 hour ride to Beppu. You can book your boat time without number plate and without paying. Remember when checking in to bring your cars manual with you as they need to inspect it. Also, we arrived 15 mins before boat departure, which was considered tight, but the staff were totally fine with it. Most of the highway to here from matsuyama is 1 lane, so little chances to overtake. Plan ahead.

We used this ferry on our trip to Kyushu and did the booking in advance.
Hassle free experiance for us. the ferry ships are well in shape and the boarding and the 70 minutes cruise was (apart from the rainy weather) really very smooth. The way to get there was nice as well, as you will have to drive on a scenic road towards the port. There is a brand new, nice food court with different restaurants directly at the ferry station as well. We had some delicious burgers there while sitting outside and waiting for our ferry to depart.

Went from Yawatahama to Beppu by ferry.
If you’re just on foot you dont need a booking and can buy a ticket at the window counter. The counter only opens one hour before departure, so dont worry. After that you can enjoy the view from the top of the port building. The ferry arrives and pedestrians just go up the boarding gate/ramp.

All in all a very nice experience, although a little tough to understand if you dont know any kanji.

So easy to sleep with rocking of diesel engine.

Nice large ferry! Smooth ride and great tatami like areas to sit and relax during the trip.

A very low key, no flare, but very comfortable ferry to cross the bungo channel. If you are buying a 2nd class ticket, go to the upper level as there are much less passengers. You could lay down and take a short nap.

Ferry crossing was comfortable and pleasant.

1年前にリニューアルしてたみたいで、とても綺麗でした。
また、高齢者同伴でしたが、スロープで昇り降りでき、安心して利用できました。
フェリー乗り場の方も優しく対応してくださいました。

九州との連絡ハブとして賑わいの中心地であり、ミナット市場や海鮮食堂なども隣接し、港町・魚の街・四国の西玄関として他府県ナンバーの乗降車を見かけることも多い。雀のお宿のモデルでもあるらしく、展示を皆振り返って行く。三崎町の国道九四フェリーと乗降客を奪い合っているが、何方もフェリーターミナルを新築するなど相乗効果となっているようで嬉しい限り。

まだ新しいターミナルで、近くに道の駅も有り退屈する事なくターミナル内で寛ぐ事が出来ました。

最高の3時間でした！隣国の家族がスマホの音量マックスでYouTubeを見ていてうるさかったです。船員さんが注意してくれれば助かりますが、大変ですよね。
また乗船したいです

ターミナルが一新されて綺麗になっていました。
GWの繁忙期でしたが、誘導もスムーズにしてくれたので、特にトラブルなく船旅を満喫できました(＾＾)

ゴールデンウィーク、国道９４フェリーが予約いっぱいでキャンセル待ちもできず絶望していたときに、こちらに問い合わせしたら空きがあるとのこと！三崎港から向かう途中、山道やトンネルで通話が途切れてしまったのですが、対応してくれたスタッフさんありがとうございました！！無事九州に帰れました！船もリニューアルしたのか、とてもきれいでした！！

一人旅で10:15八幡浜発の便に乗りました。平日だった為かとても空いており、電話で当日予約でも乗船出来ました。車1台で、1名分の2等船室乗車料が含まれてます。

船内は広く、席によっては室内から景色が見られてずっと眺めてました😄
テレビが付いていて、船首カメラでも景色を見れます。

売店もあり、飲み物やカップラーメン等の軽食、ちょっとしたお土産も売ってありました。

船酔いし易い体質です。
天候などにもよるとは思いますが、揺れも少なく快適に過ごせました。
また機会があれば利用させて頂きます✨

九州と四国を行き来する時に使う好きなフェリー
佐賀関と三崎を結ぶ国道九四フェリーと競合してると思います
普通車１台の値段は国道九四が７０００円程度に対し
宇和島運輸は１２０００円ほど。
ただ、乗船時間が長いので事前に運転してきた疲れを
ゆっくり船内で休憩して癒すことができます。
それぞれの旅程で使い分けると良いかと思います。

2022年2月に新しいフェリーターミナルがオープンします。完成から45年経ったターミナルからの引っ越しです。周りには道の駅みなっと、お魚屋さんが8軒程入ったフィッシュマーケット どーや市場もあります。伊勢海老やアワビ、ナマコにウチワエビ、タチウオ、バケラに鱧、クロムツ、マトウダイ、宇和海産の雲丹、タコにカワハギ、アジやタイなどなど季節のお魚が並びます。買ったお魚をBBQできますし、たくさんの種類のみかんジュースが買えたり、とても楽しめます。ターミナル3階のレストランマリンも新ターミナルに引っ越し。八幡浜名物のチャンポンが食べれますよ。1階にあるカツプヌードルの自販機は是非是非残して欲しいな！。別府に渡って由布岳登って温泉に浸かって帰る日帰りツアーもありかな。

船が新しくなっておりシックで落ち着いた雰囲気で快適でした。二等運賃で床だけでなく、ソファ席や一人掛け席も利用できるのでいろいろな好みに応じて席を選べます

新築でとても綺麗になりました。食堂もあります。あかつき丸も今までのフェリーより豪華になり贅沢な感じです。
