Verny Park

Highlight of my visit to Yokosuka. Probably one of the few places in Yokosuka that have such an open and direct view of the ships docked at the port and also open to the public.
On one side you can see the JMDF HQ and their vessels, while on the other side you can see the US naval base and their vessels.
Cool place to walk through or sit down and just enjoy the view. Also conveniently located right next to JR Yokosuka station.

Pretty much the only easily accessible area to see the ships around here
Walking to the any of the bases is useless because they won’t let you in anyways

Beautiful park with a lot of flowers right along the water can be windy at times so hold onto your hat
Washroom and smoking area with drink vending machines near entrance with a map of the park and it’s points of interest

Great place to relax and have a picnic. I also love the beautiful landscape of the flowers.

Great park to relax! You can see the US navy base and the base of Japan Maritime Self Defense Force from here! Long wood board deck here!! You can have a bench to see the bay!! There are good garden too! You can enjoy beautiful roses in the season. That’s super beautiful!! It’s close to JR Yokosuka station and Starbucks coffee store! It’s easy to get in!! You can enjoy here with good coffee on weekends!! Enjoy!!

Great park and great spot to view a warship. I didn't think I'll have a chance to see a real 41 cm. naval-artillery of IJN Mutsu in my life. But Wow! Look that! It's so great!! And this area is around with a lot of monument about Japan naval warship such as Yamashiro, Nagato. And I have a chance to see DDG-174 Kiriahima and DDH-184 Kaga! Wow! She both look beautiful!

The best thing about Verney Park is that it is a beautiful waterside park that is well maintained and kept clean.

Verney Park is located near Yokosuka station (JR line) along the waterfront. It is within walking distance (4 minutes) from Shiori station (Keikyu line).

The biggest perk of Verney Park is that it offers a beautiful view of the Japanese naval base along with a view of the American naval base. This is a big deal for all the people who love naval ships. Aeon (formally Daiei Mall ) which is right next to Verney Park, has a shop where you can buy tickets to take a boat tour of both the Japanese and American naval bases.

Verney Park is host to various events throughout the year. May brings the Rose Festival. June and maybe August brings the Norimono Festival (festival in which kids can ride different vehicles) along with open day for the Japanese naval base. December 31 brings the food festival before the New Year fireworks.

We always come for a stroll at night for a good view of the navy base. Very refreshing.

Fans of modern warfare and advanced battleship, this is a good place for you to see the Japan and USA Navy's finest equipments. Spotted 4 USA Aegis destroyers ,3 Japan destroyers , and 2 submarine.

A quiet park. Good views of Japanese and American ships and submarines. Lots of restaurants near by. Nice place for flower viewing and pictures.

Bring your coffee and arrive just before dawn breaks and enjoy watching the sky change colors as the sun begins to rise. Nice way to start off your day.

Peaceful. Very relaxing. Wonderful to see the variety of roses in different colors and shapes..🌹 (and read about each one of them on the signs if you can read Japanese..)

Pretty park with lots of benches. The roses are spectacular in the Spring time. There is a small playground over by the mall and a few picnic tables as well.

Nice place, it’s good to be here to relax, refresh and to calm your mind especially at night

Great place to walk near the water and warships

Great relaxing place to walk and to watch the water. Highly recommend at night.

Named after the French naval architect that designed the dry docks on the base as well as the first modern lighthouse in Japan, the park features a restaurant, a gazebo, rose garden, museums, as well as a naval gun from an Imperial Japanese Navy ship and much more. Accessible by train and bus from the Yokosuka JR Station and by foot from anywhere else in the city it is a delightful park with a view of both naval bases as well as Sarushima and the Tokyo bay.

Nice and quiet at night. The moon hanging over the water at night with water gently lapping. Passersby mind there own business while you sit on one of the benches relaxing. Recommended for walking alone with your significant other.
