Sushi Bar + Dinning ENJI

Found this place just round the corner from the hotel I was staying in, fantastic little sushi restaurant, the owners are lovely, husband and wife and the lady speaks good English, so ordering if you don't speak Japanese is a lot easier! All the sushi I had was excellent, and I had quite a bit! The highlight for me was the barracuda, one of the best things I've ever eaten and the avocado stuffed with crab, perfection. Also have an excellent range of sake and are very helpful in helping you choose which one goes with your meal. Not the cheapest place, but you get what you pay for and it's worth the money alone just to watch the sushi being prepared in front of you, a true art form.

If you're into quality sushi, I would highly recommend dinning here at ENJI. Not only is the sushi and sashimi great ,they also have a nice variety of sake and shochu to pair with awesome dishes. And one of the biggest highlights here is the friendliness of the staff and chef, very courteous and cordial to the customers. A great place to relax and hang out.

An amazing experience you will not forget. An incredibly intimate setting that seats about 6-7. The service and care taken was phenomenal. As the food is being prepared be sure to ask questions about where the seafood and ingredients were sourced.

I recommend Really diving into the full experience. It was my first time having sea snail and surprisingly I enjoyed it a lot! Keep notes of what you enjoyed as the Chef will ask what you enjoyed and will prepare more later.

All in all it is about a 3.5 hour experience so be sure to be present in the moment. Great for a date night if your date is adventurous !

Hands down the best dining experience in Japan. It’s a small understated restaurant that allows for a very unique personalized experience with the chef & server. Chef pays special attention to every detail, from the presentation, quality & friendly service. I love ENJI and would give all my money to them if they had a restaurant in my town (Las Vegas)!!

Wonderful dinner tonight! I have no complaints. I Facebook messaged the owner about 3 nights prior to inquire about availability for 2 adults, and made our reservation that way. The owner was up front about the style of dining (omakase), the cost per person (they did take credit card), and the cancellation policy. Since I knew beforehand what our meal would cost, there was no surprise check at the end. The food was served one by one and prepared in front of us. Everything was so tasty. I found out that I really enjoy fish liver. I think the salmon roe starter was also one of my favorites. I enjoyed my meal with plum wine and sake and my husband had beer. We were served green tea at the end of our meal and an ice cream. I left feeling perfectly satisfied, not hungry nor stuffed. We look forward to coming back again in the winter!

Delicious and intimate sushi experience in the heart of Yokosuka.

ENJI is the most personal sushi experience I stumbled across during my time in Japan. The restaurant has just six seats (reservations required). From a size and experience standpoint, it is just you and the Chef. The sushi itself is excellent, each piece expertly prepared, delicate and deliberate in its sequence and presentation. Fantastic sake selection to back up the food. Highly recommend a visit to ENJI if you’re in Yokosuka.

I had omakase and it was absolutely splendid. I was unsure of what to order, so I decided to let the chef decide. The fresh wasabi is a treat really made me chose this place. To be clear, omakase is not a quick bite. Dont expect to walk in, eat your fill, pay, and leave. It's an experience to enjoy. Expect to spend about an hour (maybe more if there are multiple patrons), but don't worry. While the portion isn't massive, and you most likely won't leave absolutely stuffed, you will be satisfied by the time you leave. It is on the pricey side to eat omakase, but it let's you adventure a bit with your palate.

The chef and his wife both speak English (I think the wife is fluent, but I'm not too certain if the chef is completely fluent since I'm a poor conversationalist) so don't worry about a language barrier. I will definitely be coming back.

Edit: I became a regular here and went once or twice a month. I have since left Japan, but I really want to stress that ENJI is absolutely worth it. ENJI has become the standard for sushi in my books. So far, nowhere has been able to compete (and that does include 1 Michelin Star sushi restaurants in Kyoto). Make sure to make a reservation a few days in advanced on Facebook messenger if you would like to visit. Don't hesitate. ENJI is a place that I will always fondly remember and hope to return to.

Had this recommended by a friend and boy did it not disappoint. Taka and Tomo are super friendly and provided guidance for my experience. I love Tuna and they served me some of the freshest sushi tuna to date. Have to try the cheek jaw tuna. Simply amazing. Left super satisfied knowing I’m coming back for more. It’s hidden little spot that’s sure to do well. The presentation and freshly made wasabi straight from the root was a real treat. The lighting is a little low so pictures with my phone won’t do it justice. Have to try for yourself.

Great spot if your looking for something well above the sushi go rounds. Tailored menu if your picky and excellent staff. Youll never look at sushi the same.

横須賀にあるお寿司屋さん。予約は必須で、1週間ほど前にお願いしました。夜のコースは料理が7品の手巻き寿司も含めてお寿司が13巻とボリュームたっぷり。ただ、お寿司のシャリを小さめにしてくれたり、調整頂けるうえ、美味しいので女性でも頂ける量です。カウンター席のみで目の前で握ってくれたり、用意してくれますし、気さくな大将なので心地よくご飯を頂けます。多く頂いた中でも、手巻きに使われていた海苔があまりの美味しさにびっくりしました。海苔でこれほどまで風味やお寿司が変わるのかと。海老も生きた海老から捌いて調理してくれるので、ぷりぷりで甘い濃厚な海老でした。味は都内に劣っていないのに、この値段にはびっくり。お気に入りのお店が増えました。

この料理でこの料金は安い、美味しいお鮨屋さんです。素材良く、ひとつひとつ丁寧な仕事をされています。英語堪能な女将さんの接客もいいです。お腹と懐に余裕があれば、最後に気に入ったお鮨をアラカルトで注文もできます。ふわっふわっの穴子が人気でした。

と思いましたが、ホールの方も、キッチンの方も腰が低くて気取った感じはなく、お店も綺麗で言うことありません♪
日本酒の種類はそこまで揃っていませんが....
それを補えるほど刺盛りも握りも全体的に甘くて口溶けがよくとても美味しかったです♪

横須賀中央駅から歩いて七分くらいの裏道にあります。こじんまりとしていますが、とても綺麗で静かで上品。女将さんも気の利くかたでワインのセレクトも良いし、なにより富山出身のご主人が握るお寿司も日本酒も最高です。二部制ですので予約してから行くことをオススメします。

三浦半島の食材を活かしたつまみや握りはとても美味しいです。
大将が富山出身なので北陸の食材やお酒も有り。
