Nice Jazz cafe and Inn managed by very friendly couples. Very near to Tazawa Lake . Very nice ambiance. Serve very nice western meals and breakfast with stay. The vegetables ingredients are from their own garden. The lake is super beautiful. Please visit this place, it’s amazing. You will enjoy

I came upon this place when other plans fell through and I'm so glad I did. The owners were delightful, greeting you at the door and cooking you breakfast the next morning. The location next to the lake is lovely and you're just down the hill from skiing at Tazawako. I cannot say enough good things about this place.

We had a wonderful stay! Located beautifully on the lakeside, with a nice jazz cafe and restaurant. Excellent diner and breakfast, and I would highly recommend the whiskey ;-)

Great inn, with very friendly owners. Very close to the lake and very nice breakfast (Japanese) and, besides “a la carte”, also a very nice set diner menu (more Western influenced). End the day in style with one of a hand full of classic cocktails in the cozy bar with some jazzy tunes.

Tastefully decorated inn and fabulous food! Hosts were super friendly, we had the best time there! Be sure to try the locally brewed draft beer, best I've ever had.
p.s. there's even a mini onsen

Jazz music, nice food, cozy rooms, and a hot spring bath. All run by a couple.
Some of the nicest accommodation you can find in the area.

I felt I was literally stepping into the dream B&B I’d always wanted to build one day — the moment Tatsuya-san drove us up this quaint little place, tucked away amongst trees and a stone’s throw away from the famed Tazawako lake.

I LOVED EVERYTHING about this charming space. From the woody furnishings to the loft room we had to the way our room was almost like a sunroom with the huge window pane overlooking the autumn leaves and a bit of the lake... from the jazz music to the extensive whiskey bar to the delicious homecooked meals.. this truly felt to me like a home away from home — a feeling I always believe in and dream to recreate with my own B&B (if I ever do open one — it will definitely be modelled after this place).

An extremely warm place with equally warm hosts, Yuli-san (an excellent cook) and Tatsuya-san (who apparently must be the one to serve alcoholic drinks, haha). The inn is small and homely — just five rooms, if I’m not wrong, and simply furnished with a shared bathroom, washroom and private onsen bath which you can book for 20 minutes per person each day. We had dinner here both nights (very reasonable at 2000 yen / person) and enjoyed 4/5 courses. We especially loved her salad and wafu dressing — really tasty and refreshing! We aren’t big eaters but we finished almost everything for breakfast and dinner every day.

Rent a car if you can — or cycling might be a better idea to fully enjoy the lake (20km, we took around two and a half hours). The inn provides bikes for free if you stay two nights or more.

Shall stop waxing lyrical as this review is turning into a bedtime story. Just know that That Sounds Good is literally a sound and good decision if you need to make it.

Edited: Completely forgot something important — there are woodpeckers that will diligently wake you up at 5.40am every day. The noise woke me the two nights I was there which upset me, but upon finding out they were woodpeckers... who can be angry with woodpeckers, really? All the better to start and enjoy the days early (:

Very friendly hosts, they speak good English. Place is very clean, quiet and peaceful. Free breakfast is very good. For some reason all other hotels around this area refuse to give us a room, most likely because we didn't speak Japanese. This is the place to stay if you are coming here.

The owners always so polite and patience to the guests. Explain the details very well, even teach us the Japanese traditions.

The food is the highlight here. We order one set meal and one ala cart.

For set meal, it come with apetitize, soup, main dish and dessert . Ala cart we order pizza.

Each bite is so delicious and can taste the great skill of cooking. Infusion both japanese and international style. It bring the tastebud to next level.

Simply incredible.
Yuli san and Tatsuya san are the loveliest people and the most gracious hosts one could hope for. The inn is charming in every way: the room is spacious and comfortable, the bath is a treat and the jazz music playing in the background sets a cozy a relaxed mood. We were lucky to be there on a Sunday and see a live session, an unexpected, strange and wonderful experience in rural Tohoku.
Tatsuya san will gladly pick you up and drive to the bus station at Tazawakohan when you arrive and for any day trips you'd like to take (mount Akita Komagatake is highly reccommended!). We also borrowed bicycles and spent a day riding around the lake which was marvellous.
Yuli san's food was incredible, and kept surprising and delighting us.

Highly reccommended!

Definitely a hidden treasure, the owners were extremely friendly, and the food was terrific! Menu included about 11 pages of alcoholic beverages too. The experience felt like it was out of an anime, definitely a place to consider staying at if you have the means, as it can be rather difficult to access if you don't you drive.
