Takehara Townscape Conservation Area

A little town conserved and a good place to walk around, when it is not so hot!

Beautiful, rustic, peaceful. Some shops were still opened around 4pm but not many. Missed the Tsukimi festival over the weekend 28/29 Oct 2023.

Beautifully preserved old townscape and wires put underground but almost no shops are open & almost nowhere to stop to eat or drink or shop during the week is a shame. Good public parking lots nearby & historical area has many interesting temples & shrines to explore along the foot of the mountains.

Takehara Town --- a nicely preserved small town in the south costal line of Hiroshima Prefecture, which is well connected to stories like Salt-farming, Whiskey, Bamboo arts, and even is the hometown of a former Japanese Prime Minister.

A beautiful small preserved neighboorhood area. I came on summer holiday at around 9am, having a morning walk here, was very quiet and calming atmosphere. If you come by car, there are parking area available near the townscape area.

Very beautiful townscape my favorite so far in japan. Nice small town with some good food and sake factory. Nice and quiet not so many people.

Amazing and beautiful Japanese old town street. Must see this iconic place and enjoy its culture when you visit this area.

We were en route to Onomichi from Hiroshima and decided to make a detour to this place. It was tranquil in the morning, with the old charms of the town perfectly preserved.

Historical area. Nice for walk.

Beautiful, thoughtful, and well built. Statue of Taketsuru-san and his wife is classy,, accurate, and very nice.

I'm still stunned by the beauty of this old town. Absolutely worth a visit.

時期により良し悪しあり。憧憬の路はキレイなので毎年行ってます🙂夏祭りも活気あり。2月から３月は雛人形がいろんな家に飾ってあるのを自由に見られますよ🙂今日は桜🌸の咲き具合を確認👀散歩。まだ満開ではないけどキレイでしたね🙂お店も少ないですが静かめなので落ち着きます🙂（今回はR6.4.6）。

南北400mの道の両側に、江戸から明治にかけての古い町屋がびっしりと並んでいます。お店もありますが、建物の多くが今も街の人がお住まいで、これだけの街並みを保存するには、市だけではなく、地域の方々のご努力あってのものと感じました。実際に街並みを歩くと、ゴミひとつ落ちていませんでした。格子の窓にお花が飾ってあったり、玄関先にささやかなプランターのお花が咲いていたり、400mの往復をとても楽しませて頂きました。感謝です。★5つでも足りないくらい素晴らしい街並みです。

お正月に訪れました。
華やかな観光地というわけではありませんが、昔からの生活がそのままあるような、静かに散策できる落ち着いた町並み。
寺、資料館、飲食、酒蔵、休憩所、宿泊施設などなど有ります。
定休日はそれぞれで確認を。
近くに道の駅、駐車場有り

山本の愛すべきアニメ「たまゆら」の舞台となった場所です
それを抜きにしても美しい街並み！
今度行く時は竹明かりの照らす憧憬の路の時期に行きたいなー！

江戸時代末期の街並みが残ってる町です。
2〜3月は江戸時代から、現在の雛人形が展示してます。
歴史を見る事ができます。
個人的な事ではありますが、明治時代の墓は感動しました。

路地好きにはたまらない街！！
細い路地沢山あります！

そして、どこを切り取っても絵になる歴史感じる街並み。
平日の昼間は人も少なくのんびり街並みを楽しむには最適です。
明治大正にタイムスリップしたような気にもなれます。

竹原竹まつりの時に伺いました。
江戸時代や明治時代の雰囲気を残す情緒溢れる町並みが素晴らしいです。
毎年3回は泊まりがけで来れるくらいに飽きない町です！
