The National Museum of Nature and Science is a fascinating museum that showcases the diversity and wonder of nature and science.

It has two main buildings: the Japan Gallery and the Global Gallery. The Japan Gallery features exhibits on the natural history and culture of Japan, from ancient times to the present. You can see fossils, animals, plants, minerals, and artifacts that tell the story of Japan's unique environment and heritage.

The Global Gallery covers the evolution of life and the universe, from the Big Bang to the future. You can explore various themes such as dinosaurs, space, biodiversity, and technology. You can also see a life-size blue whale model and a steam locomotive outside the building.
The admission fee is reasonable and the staff are courteous and helpful. I highly recommend this museum to anyone who is interested in nature and science. It is one of the best attractions in Tokyo.

There is so much to see and do, even as a foreigner who doesn't speak Japanese, photos does not do this place justice. Come and experience for yourself, my 6 & 10 year old thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Even the adults and grandparents had fun. There's an amazing indoor playground for 4-6 only that requires reservations but looks amazing from outside. Take a map at the entrance and plan your journey as there are 2 separate buildings and many different exhibits to see. In order not to get lost or miss anything we just went from top to down. Park next to museum is also very nice. Walking distance from JR Ueno, very convenient.

Just what I imagined the place to be. Such a great place that gets the visitors involved in their displays.

The museum is divided into 2 major buildings, the the global collection and the Japanese collection, both are very interesting and well curated.

The place is packed on weekends but still has a lot of space available to roam around. Lockers are provided and cafeterias and restaurants are there when you want to have a quick bite.

Nice museum with many exhibits. An app was provided that presented information in English. As you walked up to each listed exhibit, it recognized where you were and presented the appropriate information. Also each exhibit has a touch screen that includes English information and gives detailed information about the exhibit.

You can easily spend a whole day walking through the different floors. The museum covers general and detailed science information about the creation of the universe and development of life on earth. It also has a large amount of information specifically about Japanese scientific endeavors.

There is also a reasonably priced restaurant with nice food choices.

The admission is free for those over 65.

Wonderful natural history and science museum, located amongst the Ueno museum and gallery area. Large collection of taxidermy, including Hachiko, as well as geology, anthropology, astrology, and prehistoric exhibitions.

Incredibly well organized and highly educational museum with hours worth of beautiful exhibits to see and learn from. Most of the exhibits feature well written information in multiple languages, and there are some truly rare items here that are fascinating to see for any fan of science and nature. Definitely one of the best museums I've visited.

I do absolutely recommend this museum to everyone.
Everything is explained very well, most areas are barrier-free, most signs are also in English language, overall everything was great.
There are many 100 Yen coin lockers.
The entrance fee was about 620 per adult.
In my opinion, the most awesome site was the 360 room in the first floor of the global gallery, where our world and human existence is showed from big bang to nowadays, really great.

The museum is huge and has two parts: one specific to Japan and a larger, more general exhibition. If you are interested in science, make sure to plan in plenty of time. Have a break on the roof terrace inbetween.

Honestly a true highlight in all of Tokyo, you can spend a full day in here. Massive collection of skeletons and taxidermies. All exhibitions are distributed over 7 floors connected by escalators and elevators. The lowest floor is about physics and nobel prices, then you have dinosaur and other prehistoric creatures' skeletons and life-like reconstructions. One floor had a huge collection of bugs and models of big mammals. Outside is a reconstruction of a rocket launcher. The terrasse on the roof has a nice herbal garden and a good view on the surrounding city. There are some installations with interactive screens simulating you standing in a storm. Amazing place, worth every Yen. Even has a children's area. Very educational, information is available in all major tourist languages of Japan.

It was one of the most satisfying and well-worth visiting in Tokyo. Thanks to the modernization of Japan in the heyday of natural science, there are many well-restored collections. Earth observation equipment displayed on the second floor of the Earth Hall was especially good. It was good to see the earth observation satellite sensors, marine detection equipment, seismometers, etc., and I liked the introduction of the scientific principles in an easy-to-understand manner. It's a good enough space for adults and young children.

Unfortunately, Korea has no National Museum of Science and Natural History yet. I felt slightly envious when I saw the Japanese enjoying the weekend at the science museum. If you're traveling to Tokyo, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit here. You won't regret it!

Big museum, the 1st building has 3 floors and the 2nd one has 6 or 7 floors. The animal statues are plenty and interesting.
Entrance fee is 630 yen. I didn't know they have an app to explain the exhibits in foreign languages, so I didn't use it. There are minimal English explanations here and there.
They also have a cafeteria which is reasonably priced (below 1000).
I visited on Sunday, people started crowding at around 11, so best come before that, and go for the 2nd building first (the international exhibition)

Great museum! You can buy tickets at the door with either cash or credit.

There’s lots of things to see in there. Although many of the exhibits have fake models, it’s still quite interesting to see. There were many plaques that weren’t written in English, but that wasn’t a problem.

You should spend about 3 hours in here to enjoy the museum to its fullest!

The National Museum of Nature and Science, situated in Ueno Park, is an amazing museum. Its extensive range of amazing specimens, both living and non-living, is admirable and allows for an immersive and educational experience. The exhibits are meticulously arranged for optimal observation and many offer partial/full English translations for those unable to understand Japanese. The museum displays a large amount of scientific information on many topics, sporting many levels of interesting content.
I especially enjoyed the herb garden as well as some of the animal exhibits. A herb garden grows on the rooftop, harbouring many exquisite herb plants in a neat and well-maintained garden with an AMAZING view across the city.
Many of the exhibits include lovely specimens of the animals, such as the multi-coloured butterflies, spectacular birds, detailed aquatic creatures and more. Visitors can gaze upon their wide collections of plant and animal species, many of which are accompanied by fascinating information.
Overall, the National Museum of Nature and Science is a breath taking institution, well worth visiting.

This was a cool museum, very educational, and I like the fact that it's geared towards children. Each section or floor has its own genre, and the displays are great, they're so well done.

The dinosaur bone displays were so beautiful and well displayed. They have multiple language options for the displays as well. It was a moving experience to see the remains of such ancient creatures.

I went on a Tuesday at opening time. Buy tickets in advance for a quick entry. The star exhibits are definitely the dinosaur skeletons in the global exhibition building.
