The friendliest and most accommodating hosts we had throughout our entire trip to Japan. The rooms were clean and lacked nothing. There was also a small bathtub where you could warm up after a winter day. There are many shopping options nearby. You can reach the city center by bus in 20 minutes. We highly recommend this accommodation.

Wonderful ‘home stay style’ four room hotel/bed and breakfast. Delightful hosts who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. It reminded me of staying with my grandmother when I was a young girl. Our every need was met and exceeded. The best food in Japan. Fresh local fruits and fantastic homemade breakfast soups. They accommodated my gluten free needs and we communicated well despite our Japanese that was limited to about three words, thanks to their English and enthusiasm. Beautiful new warm Japanese home with some antique sliding doors. Lovely woodwork and all kept spotlessly clean. A kitchen shared with the other guests and beautiful ensuite rooms with comfortable beds and Japanese ‘hot tubs’ for one. Bathe like a ‘snow monkey’ they explained. The location gives the opportunity to see Japanese life as the kids pass by in the mornings walking or biking to school and the local farms provide fresh produce. There’s convenient off street parking or a short walk to the bus into Nagano Station. The lovely hosts will help you with your transportation questions and needs. Stay here. It will be a highlight of your Japanese vacation.

Wonderful hospitality by the couple, especially the lady who was very friendly. You may be astounded by the modern Japanese architecture of this accommodation. I used a car and there was parking available. The lady went above and beyond in showing me around and giving advice!

Stayed at Nagano for 3 nights, and it was the best stay of our 14 day travel.

The retired couple that ran the place was so friendly and hospitable it made us want to call them our godparents <3

Place was quiet and peaceful, just a minute walk to A Coop, their supermarket and it was perfect for those that wants to enjoy cooking or heating up great homestyle Japanese food.

Every morning they will serve a simple fruit, soup and coffee/tea breakfast and it just warms you up to the core. Everything is prepared in-house (literally) by "godmother" and the food is just OISHII 🥰

10/10 will return again to Nagano just to stay in this peaceful, outside-of-town inn for a recharge from the bustling cities we are from.

Nothing more than amazing! The hosts, the location, the area that is Nagano. We absolutely fell in love with this place and Nagano! The hosts are one-of-a-kind amazing! And the quality of everything, from the rooms, the service, the water bottle, the small breakfast is superb! Run by a wife and husband that we would love to call family, it is nothing more than a 100% recommendation if you are in the area or make a detour please! Because for Nagano I can only say: visit it! We ate delicious unique oyaki at Oyaki Farm around the corner (recommend doing the Tour, recommend to make a detour to eat it), visited the amazing Shrines of Togakushi Okusha and drank amazing coffee (plus drip bags) at 戸隠珈琲豆焙煎工房「き楽珈琲」and ate delicious Katsudon at Meijitei (and bought the sauce). We stayed for 2 days, but it made our whole travelling complete. Next time we will stay longer to find our rest, so we will for sure be back. Please visit this place. Although the location needs some traveling to reach it, it is doable! We got out of Shinoi Station and took a cab for 12 mins (costs 2400 JPY). Alternatively you can take a bus from Nagano station, but it is a local bus and takes 35 minutes (costs 480 JPY). Keep in mind you can only pay buy cash and there is no refund as is how the Japanese bus works. A good pdf can be found online on how to use a Japanese local bus ;) (get a ticket at entry, and pay when exiting but throwing your ticket and money in a box :P)

After a dreamy stay in Shioriya in 2019, we came back to Japan again in 2023 for the first time since the start of the pandemic. We were so enthralled with this beautiful little inn that we planned an itinerary through Nagano once more just to stay here! The hosts are one of the kindest and most caring people I know. Every aspect of the inn is designed and maintained with great attention to detail. The rooms and the common areas are all extremely clean and the decor is aesthetically pleasing. The best part are the hosts themselves, who engage in conversation with their visitors, almost making the visitors feel like home guests. I will keep visiting Nagano just to stay here.

But that's not all. The morning coffee is prepared with extreme care and the hosts give an incredible variety of options for things to do and explore around. The suggestions are not generic. Instead, they gain an understanding of the preferences of their guests and suggest accordingly. The hosts are highly knowledgeable about the area, having grown up around there. Every one of their suggestions have been a smash hit for us!

I could go on, but it suffices to say that you are missing out on one of life's unique opportunities if you haven't stayed at Shioriya.

one of the best hosts of a hotel I have seen. Lovely people and very sweet. Everything in our stay was perfect, from when we arrive till we leave. we had big suitcases and they brought us to the station. They only have 4 rooms, if you are lucky to find availability you will love it

We stayed at the Shioriya guesthouse for 7 days. The guesthouse is located in Shinonoi, a 10 minute train ride from Nagano and a short drive from the Shinonoi station. We liked the location of the guesthouse for its quiet, homely neighborhood and for the convenience of restaurants and department stores located very close by. We stayed in the Japanese-Western combination room which had very comfortable mattresses on a raised platform. The room (with an attached bathroom) was exceptionally clean, well-designed, airy and spacious. The room has a small refrigerator, a kettle, cosmetics and spare pillows. We had beautiful views of the Alps in the distance. Even though the room faced the street, we heard almost no street-noise. There is an aesthetically designed and comfortable common dining and lounge space downstairs. Coming back in the evening to a roaring fire in the fireplace was an added bonus! The guesthouse also has a washer-dryer unit and a small, well-stocked kitchen that the guests can use.

We have visited Japan several times in the past and stayed in ryokans, but this stay was by far the best, made most memorable and enjoyable thanks to the wonderful hosts. They were incredibly generous with their time, sharing their knowledge about the area and nearby towns. Depending on our interests, they had great suggestions on sites to visit, restaurants, walking paths and shops. The hosts are warm, hospitable and very thoughtful. We enjoyed the healthy and tasty breakfast that they served every morning. Even though we were unfamiliar with each other's language, communication was never difficult: through a combination of Google Translate and their device that translates from Japanese to English, we were able to communicate with each other very well. We are already looking forward to our next stay at Shioriya!

Update: This was our second visit to Shioriya and it was just as pleasant and wonderful a stay as it was our first time! The spic and span rooms were very comfortable. This time we stayed in the Japanese and Western style rooms. Our last visit was nearly 4 years ago and it was great to see that the high standards of comfort and cleanliness continue to be maintained. Above all, the hosts are absolutely wonderful! They once again gave us great recommendations for restaurants and places to see. We can't wait to return!

８月に戸隠神社巡りをした後に利用させていただきました。
くったくたの疲れた体にウェルカムドリンクと手作りデザートとオーナーご夫妻のお話やおもてなしに癒されました。
お部屋もとても清潔で浴室とトイレも分かれていて使いやすく心地よかったです。
福井の方からぐるっと回ったそば粉探しの旅みたいになっていて、奥様に情報をいただきとても美味しいそばやさんにも巡り逢えました。
そば粉も頼まれものでしたが、とても喜んでいただきました。
ジンギスカンも有名とのことで信州新町の道の駅で北海道でしか食べられないと思っていたサフォークラムもゲットできて大満足。

台風の心配があった帰りに万が一の非常食(笑)でといただいた長野のお菓子「サラバンド」、これ子供の頃大好きだったお菓子で長野のお菓子だったんだと大感動。次回長野を訪れた際には大量買いしていきます(笑)

オーナーさんの人柄が滲み出るとてもよいお宿でした。
また訪れたいと思っております。

20年前に3年間住んでいた長野に久しぶりにきました。初めての宿でしたが、オーナー夫婦が温かく迎えてくれました。話を聞くと白馬で長年ペンションを経営されており、その経験から細かな気配りが、調度品、アメニティ他、多々に感じられ、凄く居心地が良かったです。
ご主人様も私と歳も同じだったのでより親しみが湧きました。

先日バイク一台で訪問し、予定の時間より遅い到着になりましたが、とても暖かく迎え入れて下さり嬉しく思いました。
お部屋はとても綺麗で木の温もりが感じられ、アメニティ類も完備されています。
また長野を訪れる時には是非とも泊まりたいです。

建物・人・接客すべてがとても素敵なお宿です。
近くにあるリストランテ・フローリアを目当てに長野旅行をし、その際に栞舎さんを見つけ口コミもかなり良かったので宿泊しました。
営まれているご夫婦がとても素敵な方です。チェックインの際には奥様が作られた春のゼリーとお茶を出していただき、楽しいお話をさせていただきました。お二人とも本当にお話が上手で、長野の観光スポットについてもたくさん教えてくださります。
100年の歴史のある建物の良いところを残しつつ、綺麗にリノベーションされていて、お部屋もとても過ごしやすいです。シャンプーなどは、安曇野の上質な水を使って作られている、奥様おすすめのものを置いてくれています。使ってみると実際にかなり良かったです！
チェックアウトの日の朝にはお手製のスープとコーヒー・紅茶という朝にピッタリのセットを出してくれます。こちらもとても美味しかったです！
30年前からペンションを経営されているお二人のホスピタリティ溢れる栞舎さんに是非行ってみてください。

皆様の口コミ同様、オーナーご夫妻の心温まるおもてなしが本当にありがたかったです。

チェックイン時、ウェルカムドリンクをいただきながらお話ししてるときに、ココラデの牛乳パンが入手出来なかったとお話ししたら、翌朝9時に行けば買えると教えてくださり、手書きの地図もいただいたので迷わず到着し、無事牛乳パンをゲットできました。

また、そのあと戸隠蕎麦を食べに行ったのですが、それについても事前に詳しく教えていただいたおかげで、そばの実のお店に1時間待ちで行けました。奥様のアドバイスがなければ、中社付近でウロウロし、そのせいでもっと長い待ち時間になったと思います。

部屋は一階和室でした。
無駄のないモダンな造りで我が家のようにくつろげます。
共同キッチンがすぐ横でしたので、レンチンなどが便利で、設備は大変満足でしたが、唯一残念だったのは真上の宿泊客の足音がドタドタうるさくて、朝早く起こされたことぐらいでしょうか。。

にしてもオーナーご夫妻のあたたかさとかゆいところに手が届く気配りが本当に素晴らしかったので、また次回も利用したいです。

4年前とつい昨日とで計2回宿泊で利用させて頂きました！
経営されているご夫婦がとても温かくて気さくで話してるといつの間にか1時間とか経ってました。
お部屋は他の方も仰っている様にとても綺麗で、安曇野の水のペットボトル、シャンプー、今治タオルなどアメニティにもこだわりが感じられました。また、ウェルカムドリンクやデザートのサービスが美味しかったり、長野のオススメスポットもたくさん教えて下さいました。コトリの湯やおやきファームなどどこもよくていい思い出ができました^_^
4年経ってもやはりここは最高でした！
いい意味で「家」です！
次は入籍したらか子供が出来たらかな。全部屋制覇を目標にまた帰ります！笑

2人で1泊させて頂きました。
なにより内装がすごい！！全然寒くない！！暖炉といい木のいい匂いといいすごく温かみを感じました。建物内も清潔感に溢れとても居心地が良かったです。
オーナーご夫婦がとても人柄の良い方でおすすめのお店や美味しいお店、世間話で盛り上がりました。
サービスがとてもすごくてオーナーの奥様の手作りのデザートすごい美味しかったです。
泊まるお部屋も和室を選びましたがデザインが一つ一つ凝っておりすごく可愛いです。
布団からもとてもいい匂いがしてふかふかで手触りも良くてよく眠れました。
共有スペースにIHのキッチンや電子レンジ、オーブンとかもありちょっとした料理も出来そうでした。
今まで色んなところに泊まりましたがとても暖かく心に残る宿でした。またぜひ利用したいしあのオーナーご夫婦にも会いに行きたいです！

車(バイク)での来訪前提にはなるがアクセスしやすい立地。全4部屋しかないため要注意。

素泊まりが基本？だがちょっとしたドリンクサービスを来訪時と翌朝に頂けた。経営されているご夫婦のお人柄大変素晴らしく楽しく会話させて頂いた。

近隣のオススメのお食事処も教えて頂き大変参考になった。

是非また来訪したい。

2歳の娘を連れて、親子3人で和室のお部屋に宿泊しました。
木の香りのする、とても素敵な建物でした。オーナーさんご夫婦もとても素敵な方で、すっかりファンになってしまいました。
なかなか子どもを連れて、伸び伸びと宿泊ができなくなっていましたが、栞舎さんは子ども連れにもとても居心地の良い素敵なところでした。
また長野へ帰省する際は、お世話になりたいと思います。
