Fantastic day trip from Nagoya. We had a great time exploring the area and visiting the local potteries and shops. One of our favorite places for unique souvenirs.

You can easily spend 3+ hours here if you take your time and enjoy it.

Nagoya must do! Great place to learn about local pottery culture and wander through the neighborhoods. Little restaurants and cafes tucked around the corners so don't forget to look around.

This was a fun place to see examples of different styles of pottery. The shops were fantastic with super nice people. The prices of the pottery could vary from very reasonable to very expensive. The walking route was quite nice and a great way to spend a morning. I loved the bakery that was on site that used a furnace. Great stuff and a nice place. The tourist information staff were great and helped too.

Tokoname is famous for its pottery. Although the style of their product is somehow very traditional Japanese, and the price is not cheap at all, the walk course was what I really enjoyed. It lasts around 90 minutes with cute pottery products. If the weather is nice you definitely have nice photos :)

時代がタイムスリップしたような雰囲気抜群の散歩道。
坂が多い見通しが効かない道の風景が飽きさせません。
その先に何が見えてくるのかが楽しみになってきます。

板張りの建物、煉瓦の煙突、登り窯に焼き物の立派な工場と焼き物で栄えた町文化がそこかしこにあります。
保存状態もなかなか良い感じ。
妙に古いものをお洒落に見せていないところもグッド！

「土管坂休憩所」でしばし休憩。
今歩いてきた町並みが見下ろせます。
すてきな散歩道でした。

常滑焼の史蹟散策路として年間30万人超の観光客が訪れる史蹟遊歩道です。

「常滑市やきもの散歩道地区景観計画」を平成22年4月に策定し、景観を維持保全していくことで、焼き物の町を将来に伝えるため、誇りを持って街並みを守り育んでいきたいとあります。

史蹟旧跡は地元の方々や自治体の積極的な保全活動なくして遺せません。
地域の経済活動等、優先すべき建替えや自治体の区画整理で街並みは簡単に消滅していってしまいます。
風情ある景観は簡単には再建できないのでこれからもこの景観を守り遺してくれることを期待したいと思います。

常滑はいわゆる六古窯の一つで、中世から現在まで陶磁器の生産が続く日本有数の産地です。
明治以降には土管や焼酎瓶、タイルやテラコッタなどの工業製品を大量生産する大きな窯が幾つも建てられましたが、戦後になってそれらの窯の多くが廃業・移転しています。
しかし曲がりくねった道に起伏が多い土地柄のせいか大規模な再開発の手が入らず、昭和中期以前の窯業関連の遺構や街並みが今もよく残されており、地域に根付いた地場産業として賑わっていた往時を偲ぶことができます。

やきもの散歩道はそれら登窯や煉瓦煙突、コールタール塗りの黒壁の工場などを効率良く歩いて巡ることができる全長1.5kmほどのモデルコースです。
所要時間はおよそ1時間ほどですが、道中に魅力的な飲食店やギャラリーなどもあるため、それらで休憩したり見学する時間的余裕もあったほうがいいかもしれません。
また行楽シーズンなどは平日でもそれなりの人出になるので、ゆっくり見て回りたい方は休日は避けたほうが無難でしょう

かなり勾配もキツいですが、焼き物が道や壁や建物など至る所に使われていて街自体の雰囲気がカッコいいです。

でも、今風のおしゃれなお店がかなり古い民家を再利用しているのですが、地震とか来たら直ぐに崩れてしまいそうな危うい感じがちょっと怖いですね。😅

今回は陽気の良い3連休だったので、かなりの観光客がいました。
海外の方も是非もっと来て欲しいです。👍

小高い丘のような場所に、迷路のように、まがりくねった細道が続いていて、歩いていくと、可愛らしい常滑焼のオブジェなどがお店の一角や、道の脇、公園などに飾ってあって、まるで宝探しのようにやきもの散歩道を楽しめました。わざとらしくなく、毎日の人々の生活に馴染んでいる雰囲気が本当に魅力的です。
