Gozanoishi jinja Shrine

We stumbled upon this place during our drive around the lake, so glad we did! It's a beautiful shrine, tori gate by the lake and it was not busy at all unlike the ones at Hakone or Miyajima where you've to queue for hours to get a good photo. This was absolutely beautiful, peaceful and a calming experience.

Beautiful spot around Tazawa lake. We visited as part of the circular bus route, where a short time was given to admire the picturesque tori gate on the shores of the lake.

The shrine is dedicated to the spirit of Tatsuko, whose statue is further around the lake. She allegedly guards the lake in the form of a dragon, after transforming through visiting the lake for 100 days, praying to keep her beauty.

Particularly striking in winter.

Amazing view in winter of the tori gate in snow over the lake. Its striking in the backdrop of the lake. The loop bus only stops here 10 mins. There is a temple opposite to it but the Tori is what you want to focus on. The bus might have a crowd of people who want to take pictures.

Wow. Wow. Wow. This is a must see when it's snowing because usually no one is around and it's just amazing you see while in complete silence 🤐. Prepare to take an expensive taxi 🚕 or have a car 🚗 because the bus 🚌 is not dependable in this area.

Tazawa lake is highly recommended to visit. Better to rent a bike than taking the bus as it only stop 10 minutes at remarkable point. The tour is around 20km so it's quite easy with good calves.
I did it by steps which is far more tough but you can enjoy a swim in a pur and fresh water.

Shrine by the seaside worth a visit post descending the mountain

Goza-no-ishi Shrine on the northern shore of Lake Tazawa with its striking red gate at the water's edge. Set amidst the mysterious lake, the shrine serves as a beautiful backdrop to the beach front area.

If it's a nice day: Stop, walk out to the rocks on the lake shore, look down! I swear you will never see more blue water in your entire life!

Definitely worth the trip to see and experience
