神戸どうぶつ王国(Kobe Animal Kingdom)

We came from Osaka for a fun afternoon in Kobe and we're thrilled to have come upon this amazing zoo. Having been to many zoos outside of Japan, this was a completely different experience seeing the animals up close and getting to feed the kangaroos, capybaras and deer. The facility was clean and the landscaping was really well done. The staff are also very kind and enthusiastic. I highly recommend coming here for a unique experience as it's a fun activity for all ages!

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE! We visited 3 different zoos during our Japan trip but this is our favourite!! You can get really up & close to the animals sometimes as you walk around the different habitats & there were plenty to see. Many interactive elements such as the rabbit petting & dog+cat petting (this one is really popular so if you're close to the timeslot, do queue as they only let 20 pax in at each time for approx 10mins). You get to feed the animals during feeding time and prices were reasonable. We really enjoyed ourselves here! Ps do claim your stamp at the main entrance counter if you're collecting those!

We had so much fun here! One of the main draws for us to come to Kobe was to touch the Capybaras!!!!!!!
All the animals were cute and the exhibits were well thought out.
But nothing beats the Capys!!!

Great place to see various animals! The place has nice interior design. There are 7 areas I think and each area provides different experience. Personally I like the tropical forest area since you can feed and touch capybara!!!!! If you want to have a full experience, you want to get there early as some animal touching experience requires line up. Also feeding animals may be stopped after the first round of feeding.

If you are travelling from Namba or Udema try to get the package ticket from the Hansin station. It saves a lot of money!

This place hidden in a Kobe industrial district had much more to see then we expected. The animal closures were very nicely laid out and lots of stuff on hand to make sure things went smoothly.

Also the variety of animals and the sheer amount of them was also a surprise.

A very nice place for both adults and kids!
Lots of animals that you can’t see in other zoos. My mum and I spent the whole afternoon there and enjoyed so much!

Very nice experience even it's not a hot season can see camel. Unfortunately were raining but highly recommend bring with children's as can give food to some animals

Even though the price for entry is more expensive than most zoo/similar establishments, this is very worth every yen.

They allow most of the animals to roam around freely and there are petting zone for cats/dogs/rabbits.

Can easily spend 2 to 3 hours here.

We had the most wonderful time here back when we visited in January! This is by far our favorite animal spot we visited during our time in Japan. The capybara experience was our favorite activity!

An interactive zoo which provides an outstanding and "close-up" experience.

Highly recommended if you are in the Kansai area.

Well thought out zoo with ac inside and they also provide umbrellas for the outside portion. Animals will be closer compared to generic zoos. Staffs are friendly and the entrance is just by the exit of the station.

The animals are so crazy crazy close! The park is beautifully arranged with a myriad of plants. Be careful not to miss even smalle beautiful l fish!

This place was amazing. Such a great place for kids and the whole family. You got to feed and pet so many different animals, it was awesome!

A must do experience when visiting Kobe. The zoo offers interaction with animals such as feeding and petting animals. Also live feeding demonstrations were engaging and educational.

A charming zoo that offers a great experience for children and adult animal-lovers alike. It is right by the train station, so accessibility is good

It is very clean and well maintained, and it doesn't have strong smells that is often noticeable at other zoos.

The animals here appear to be healthy and well taken care of, and some of them have the option of being pet and fed by the visitors.

Lastly, the udon shop here was surprisingly quite decent.

Great experience there, lots of interactions with the animals and lots of demontration. Would recommend and go again. Wasn't super crowded when we went, which was a Tuesday.

4.5 ⭐ a must visit!

This is one of the best zoos I've been to. Great value for money, in my opinion. There is an awesome selection of animals on show. I especially appreciated the original and authentic enclosures. Speaking of which, they were clean, and the animals themselves generally appeared in good health. I really liked that there were enclosures, like the spoon bill and the African wetlands, that were more open. This allowed you to get closer to the animals for a unique experience. It also allowed you to photograph/video much better. There are a lot of plants and flowers throughout the entire zoo, which added a lovely touch. There are multiple food stalls on site and plenty of seating. I'm especially fond of the fact that this zoo engages in multiple conservation projects.

Lowlights: During my visit, it appeared that the Puma cage was very small considering the size of the animals and their usual habitats. I also noticed that one of the cats themselves had an injury and looked malnourished. This may be completely under control by the zoo, but a notice on the enclosure would have been reassuring for visitors. I also noticed that many of the mamals appeared anxious, pacing back and forth in their cages. While I understand that to a certain degree, nothing can be done about this without simply not having animals at a zoo, I've just never noticed it so much during other zoo visits. I'm not sure what can be done to help this situation, but it felt a bit stressful watching the animals behave this way.
