Restaurant on beautiful Japanese natural landscaping and ancient architectures. Situated in the woods of natural environment with Gasho Tsukuri 合掌造り architectures, with sounds of water flows, red autumn leaves........ Food are fabulous using seasonal ingredients of rare quality.

It’s a must! This was an amazing experience. Restaurant is absolutely beautiful, food was delicious and service was impeccable. If you’re looking for a lovely romantic dinner I highly recommend opting in for the private room.

Absolutely 5-stars. Deep in the valley of Takao-zan. Reservation is required regardless of private room or not. Free parking is available here. One of the best Japanese traditional dining experience. We ordered beef course and the staff helped to grill the steak. Tasty food and suitable portion.

This is a 10/10. I know Yelp does 5 stars and I've given a lot of 5 stars before but this place is absolutely one of the best restaurants/experiences I've ever had.

Long story short we went up to Mt Takao for the day and decided to go here for lunch on the recommendation of a friend. As we arrived by Car (also accessible by metro/taxi when you arrive at the train station) and were warmly greeted and directed by their parking staff. We get out of the car and a hostess is there ready to guide us to the main front reception area where we are taken for registration. (we reserved 2 weeks in advance) The front reception is a moderate sized house that is part of a little village of houses, stream, nature and other amazing sights (see the photos). You are taken to your own little house in the "village" where they sit and serve you dinner/lunch.

The service was absolutely the best in the world. The food absolutely the best and the ambiance was amazing. It is so beautiful in this little village that you feel apart from the busy life of Tokyo.

The real Japanese dining experience. Not inexpensive but considering the food, ambience and service, it's well worth it. Beef, chicken course grilled at the table over charcoal... great dining experience. Hard to get to but they have a shuttle but taxi is also an alternative.

Really special dinner spot by Mt Takao! Service is excellent and meals are served in private rooms. We tried the chicken skewer and the chicken and beef sets. A great place to go to “get away” while still being close to Tokyo. Highly recommend!

This place is one of the must go places for me when I am in Tokyo. Must admit it is not within Tokyo and probably need between 1-1.5 hours of travel time depending on where you are. However the dinning atmosphere and food is worth it.

Normally I would say make as a stop to recharge post trekking in Mount Takao.

Near Mt Takao with a free ride from station every 20 minutes, it has delicious traditional Japanese food in a magic ambience. It has lunch special and a la carte. About 50-70 usd per person in average. Gardens and the river create an unique atmosphere perfect for sharing with your friends or someone special. Don’t miss it!!! Specially ir you arrive around 4 so you can see the beautiful illumination of the forest.

A very special restaurant and experience. It's certainly a bit of a journey out by train from Tokyo (we travelled from Shinjuku to Takaosanguchi on the Keio Line - about an hour) but very much worth the effort. The staff were charming and the food (we ordered a grilled chicken and fish set menu) was simply delicious.

The place looks like a set for movies. Very serene! My family and I was in awe in how beautiful the scenery was. We got escorted in tatami rooms where they served us our course meals. Wagyu beef was like butter melting in our mouth! Service is excellent! Experience was priceless!

This hidden gem of a restaurant is perfect for a post-Mt Takao hike. Diners get to barbecue their own chicken/beef/vegetable skewers over a charcoal broiler while admiring the stream that runs below the private dining rooms

Location: Classical Japanese experience. 400 year old house at the front transports you into a world of neatly manicured gardens, ponds, and moss covered huts.

Visit to this place will make you forget time and a 4 hour meal will feel like minutes.

Food: Special course was phenomenal with kuoi sashimi with miso paste, grilled chicken, river fish, and very tasty sweet bean paste with mochi.

Ukai Toriyama was SO GOOD. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic and delicious Japanese dining experience. The atmosphere was amazing, and we were taken to private little houses with a glass wall overlooking a koi pond. They even told us June-August is "hotaru" season, so the gardens are filled w fireflies at night. Reservations are a must.

Other than the food being really good, the service was top-notch. The staff were friendly, informative about the dishes, and super attentive (you will never have to ask for water lol), making sure that every guest is well taken care of and has a memorable experience.

As for pricing, we each paid 12.5k yen for the set meal we chose (chicken and beef), but it was 100% worth it for the quality of the food and the overall experience. There's even a free shuttle service that takes you back to the train station.
