Yamagata Grand Hotel

We absolutely loved this hotel ( and Yamagata City) . Whilst it was wasn’t next to the station ( often choose Eki Mae Hotels purely for convenience of travel ) it was around a 10 minute walk which with our medium sized luggage was fine . What I really liked about this hotel was the scale of it - was large and spacious , the rooms were a really good size , bathrooms had a tub and was great value . The hotel is quite retro in that convention centre way ( chandeliers/sculptures & carpet in the lobby ) so if Japanese aesthetics , or quirky/contemporary design is important to you, you’ll be disappointed . What it does have is a really good location - good shops and tonnes of food restaurants nearby . I really enjoyed exploring the local area , it’s not touristy at all and had a great laid back feel but still loads of places to go . In fact we liked it so much we extended our stay by 2 extra nights . It’s a lovely area to explore as it’s not as busy as other better known cities but it’s not dull or sleepy either and the people are much more open than in Tokyo or Kyoto .Typically this area is busier in the winter for ski enthusiasts but coming here in May was surprisingly lovely . Don’t miss the spectacular Yamadera Temple - for me as beautiful or more so ( certainly less busy ) then Kyoto’s kiyomizudera .

The room is spacious, with fridge, tubs, desk and comfort chairs.

Great hotel, great service. Very cordial, at par with japanese hospitality. A little farfrom the main station, but easily accessible by bus. The Bunshokan is a 7min walk down the road. Surrounded by restaurants, convenience stores, cafes and souvenir shops. Overall great experience.

Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful with pretty good English. The rooms are homey and beautiful, and the bathrooms are the biggest and nicest we've had out of both Tokyo and Osaka.

雰囲気がいい…ビジホとは違う…グランド感…素泊まりでしたが…何だか贅沢な感じを感じました…
しいて言えば、浴室の清掃…石鹸垢がタイル壁に…リノベもリフォームもしなくていいので、清掃の質を上げて欲しい…アウトソーシングで更に経費がかかるのかな…生き残る、伝統を繋ぐための投資のように思うのだけれど…
チェックアウトの時、客室清掃スタッフさんが、さっと壁際に退いてくれた…素敵な振る舞い…忙しい時間なのに、ありがとうございました…気持ち良く1日を始めれました。

地元を代表するような立派なホテルで、フロント対応も一流でした。近隣の飲食店案内もしっかりしていて、夜も楽しめました。駐車場はホテルの隣にあり、1泊千円です。部屋も広くてくつろげました。

駅から少し遠いのが難点ですが、部屋の広さ、その値段に、朝食の充実と素晴らしいホテルでした。また是非利用したいホテルです。

街中で便利だけど、静かです。飲食店も近く、土産屋さんも老舗が何軒かあります。

たしかに山形駅から少し歩きますし、多少年季は入っていますが、自分にとっては十分許容範囲でした。
ブライダルをやられているホテルは、やはり品を感じます。
フロントだけではなく清掃員の方々も明るくご挨拶くださって嬉しかったです。

繁華街にありホテル内に絵画などたくさん飾ってあり見てまわるのも楽しい。内装に経年変化が見られるが少し広い部屋が選べる。朝食はバイキングで種類多く満足。周りにサイクリング道が整備されており散歩するのもたのしそう。また泊まりたいホテル。
