Gotemba Station

Morning of Day 6 of our 14 day trip, we were on the road from #hakone to Mt. Fuji - lake kawaguchiko & #fujiqhighland 🚍🏔🎢
It's awesome to see the local small towns along the way plus a little bit of lake yamanaka as well.
*It's not the easiest access route but it's do able with some planning & of course @googlemaps @googlejapan 🗺👏🏼

For us it began with a short walk down the hill from our #onsen hotel onto the main mountain road.

There at the senkenyoro mae stop we caught a local bus towards busta shinjuku & got off at gotemba eki stop which is at gotemba station 🚌 be mindful of the times.

From gotemba station we caught another local bus to #Kawaguchiko & got off at #mtfujistation 🚉

From Mt.Fuji station we caught the #Fujikyuko Line Local train towards Kawaguchiko/Fujikyu-Highland Station, our final destination 🚞

Just bought ticket to Kawaguchiko station. There is a kiosk for you to buy ticket and a transit board for you to refer where you want to go, it’s very informative

Touristic spot railway station!
Equipped for limited mobility travelers.
A lot to visit from there: Large outlets mall, Mount Fuji, Breweries, etc.
For the railway buffs:
Minami-Gotemba Station opened on July 20, 1962. Operational control of the station was transferred to JR Central following privatization of JNR on April 1, 1987.
This station has a single side platform and an unstaffed building to the west of tracks.

City Gotemba - great place to admire Fuji! Fuji visible throughout the area

Very nice, well maintained station on the way to Subashri 5th Station the view point for Mt Fuji.

Bus to hakone is behind the station. Use the overhead pass to cross the tracks. Go to bus bay 3 for the bus to hakone

Best place to see Mt.Fuji

Cute small station with a nice combini and excellent tourist information. Connects to hakone and kawaguchiko.

だんだんと少しずつ、綺麗な駅になってきています。
南側、乙女口にビジネスホテルもできて益々便利な駅になるでしょう。

全ての営業列車が停車し、一部の普通列車や小田急線の新宿駅と当駅を結ぶ特急「ふじさん」が起点・終点としている主要駅である。乗降客は、御殿場線内では沼津駅・国府津駅に次いで多い。

富士山や箱根の玄関口の一つであり、駅前からは富士山麓や河口湖、箱根方面などへ向かうバスが発着している。1928年（昭和3年）までは、駅前を馬車鉄道が発着していた。

駅の開業は1889年（明治22年）2月であり、御殿場線の途中駅の中で丹那トンネル開通以前に東海道本線の駅として開業した7駅の一つである。

開業以来国有鉄道の駅であったが、1987年（昭和62年）4月の国鉄分割民営化により旅客営業はJR東海に、貨物営業は日本貨物鉄道（JR貨物）に移管された。ただし、JR貨物の貨物営業は2006年（平成18年）4月に廃止されている。

標高455メートルと御殿場線の中では最高地点にある駅であり、付近を鮎沢川と黄瀬川の分水界が横切る。

富士山を間近に感じられる駅です。
コロナによる入国制限もなくなりましたので、これからインバウンドでにぎやかになることでしょう。

旧東海道線の複線の名残もあり、ここまでの坂を登る為にD51よりも強力なD52も飾っています。
山北駅にもD52は飾っていますが、御殿場のD52は夜にヘッドライトが点灯します！
天気が良ければ、富士山も眺められる景色が待っていますよ。
